the toasty guy grabs it away from nick and shell... |
Thanks for sticking up for me, Shell...or is it sticking out? Anyway, I was tied up and missed the boat...but for better or worse, I wasn't whipped while tied up this time.
congrats and welcome to the toaster guy. You're up, Tostie |
Where'd he go? Maybe he just popped in for a quickie.
I feel like I've just had a one-night-stand... ...not that I know what that feels like, mind you ;) |
Shell, was it as good for you as it was for me?
Tostie, are you somewhere in Bangladesh? |
methinks we got hit with a "monopoly" bot...
why don't you give it a go, nick... |
ok, caught me unprepared. I'll think of a place by morning and if monobot boy isn't back I'll take the turn.
OK, where in the world am I?
Europe? ...no doubt flirting in a restaurant,
drinking a beer, and dining on some kodak-moment delicacy |
yes I'm in Europe.
For a second there I thought you said "kodiak-moment" as if I was eating a big bear! |
west of the "curtain?"
yes sir
country bordering a sea or ocean?
yes sir
med?
yes sir ...3 bags full < not a clue, just being poetic
Adriatic?
ionian?
it's warm and cozy squeezed between the two of you
in the greece?
island?
yep, I'm Greecey. Lots of islands there, Shell, but I'm on the mainland.
are you in a place in greece that borders on water?
At a Naturally occuring place?
...is it a place of historical significance?
no, no, yes
I'm a few miles inland, so not right on the shore. The timely significance of this place relates to what people did there, which is the reason I'm there now, so not naturally occuring. Yes, this place has great historical signficance. |
parthenon?
The Olympiad?
I'm not at the Parthenon, unc.
I'm also not at "The Olympiad" but the place where I am is associated with the first Olympics. I hope you don't think I'm nit-picking but I want the name of this place. Shell, you're so close to the answer I'm looking for so hurry up and guess before the toaster guy pops in here again. |
olympia?
uncle phil phound me! You're up, unc.
The Olympic Games were a series of athletic competitions held for representatives of various city-states of Ancient Greece. Records indicate that they began in 776 BC in Olympia, Greece. They were celebrated until 393 AD. when an earthquake destroyed Olympia. The Games were usually held every four years, or olympiad, as the unit of time came to be known. During a celebration of the Games, an Olympic Truce was enacted so that athletes could travel from their countries to Olympia in safety. |
as soon as i saw "olympiad," which is a span of time, i knew it had to be olympia. i wonder if they had curling back then...
i'll come up with someplace by tomorrow, at the latest... |
unc, you're invited to join the local curling club that I recently started. We meet every night at 8pm...but attendance is not mandatory.

^ yes, back in the day. I wonder if that's why my daughter moved there? She loves it in Olympia.
As with many other regional breweries, ownership of this brewery eventually passed through several corporations including Pabst, G. Heileman, and Stroh's, until the brewery was eventually purchased by SABMiller. For a time, the Olympia brewery took over the brewing of other Pacific Northwest brands as their original breweries were closed one by one, including the Lucky Lager brewery in Vancouver, Washington, the Henry Weinhard's brewery in Portland, Oregon, and the Rainier Beer brewery in Seattle, Washington. Miller closed the Olympia brewery on July 1, 2003 citing the unprofitability of such a small brewery. However, beer marketed under the Olympia Beer name continues to be manufactured by SABMiller at a plant in Irwindale, California. |
