Michael Jackson not guilty on all counts

Somewhere someone's doing a moonwalk...

I'm surprised to be truthful. Whilst I think many people are trying to exploit him, the guy really has some issues.

Quote:
Jackson a free man
A jury today acquitted Michael Jackson on all 10 counts against him, including a charge that he molested a 13-year-old cancer survivor at his Neverland ranch.

The total legal victory vindicated the pop star, who insisted he was the victim of mother-and-son con artists and a prosecutor with a vendetta.

But the verdicts, which also acquitted him of supplying liquor to a minor and of conspiring to imprison his accuser and the boy's family at the storybook estate, may do little to improve Jackon's bizarre image.

He looked straight ahead as the verdicts were read and showed no visible reaction as he was found not guilty on all counts.

The verdict - reached after about 30 hours of deliberations over seven days - ended a star-studded, four-month trial that offered a global audience a lurid look into the weird world of Michael Jackson and presented jurors with vastly different portraits of him.

There was the creepy pervert who preyed on little boys, or had he been the victim of a frame-up by mother-and-son shakedown artists?

Screams of joy rang out among a throng of fans outside the courthouse.

Fans jumped up and down, hugged each other and threw confetti in celebration of the news. A woman in the throng released one white dove each time an acquittal was read.

During the trial, prosecutors who had been pursuing Jackson for years branded him a deviant who used his playland as the ultimate pervert's lair, plying boys with booze and porn before molesting them.

Defence lawyers described Jackson as a humanitarian who wanted to protect kids and give them the life he never had while growing up as a child star. The boy had asked to meet the star when he thought he was dying of cancer.

The defence said the family exploited the boy's illness to shake down celebrities, then concocted the charges after realising Jackson was cutting them off from a jet-set lifestyle that included limo rides and stays at luxurious resorts.

Jackson was cleared of all 10 charges, including four counts that he molested the boy in early 2003.

Jackson also was charged with providing the boy with wine - "Jesus juice", the pop star called it - and conspiring with members of his inner circle to hold the accuser and his family captive to get them to rebut a damaging documentary.

In the Living with Michael Jackson documentary made by a British journalist, Jackson held hands with the boy and acknowledged sharing his bed with children, a practice he described as sweet and not at all sexual.

Jackson agreed to take part in the documentary because he hoped it would help his image after years of eccentric behaviour that included transforming his face through plastic surgery.

But the airing of the program in February 2003 triggered intense media scrutiny of Jackson's relationship with the boy, as well as calls for investigations.

Authorities interviewed the boy and Jackson was charged before year's end. At the trial, prosecutors would allege that Jackson molested the boy in the weeks after the family helped Jackson record a rebuttal video.

The boy, now 15, testified that Jackson twice masturbated him while they were under the covers in the singer's bedroom. The boy's brother testified he twice witnessed Jackson fondle the boy as he slept.

Prosecutors hauled out bag after bag of adult magazines found in Jackson's home and projected explicit images onto a large screen, saying Jackson showed boys the material to arouse them.

Prosecution witnesses described other bizarre behaviour by Jackson: They said he licked his accuser's head, simulated a sex act with a mannequin, kept dolls in bondage outfits on his desk.

Prosecutors said kids were allowed the run of Neverland - a fantasy land of amusement park rides, golf carts and exotic animals about 177 kilometres north-west of Los Angeles - before being molested in Jackson's bedroom.

"They rode rides, went to the zoo, ate whatever they wanted - candy, ice cream, soda pop," prosecutor Ron Zonen said in closing arguments. "And at night they entered into the world of the forbidden."

Under an unusual California law, prosecutors were allowed to introduce evidence of other instances of molestation on Jackson's part that never resulted in any charges, to prove that the alleged crimes were part of a pattern of behaviour.

A parade of servants and other Neverland staff members described seeing Jackson grope or otherwise molest boys, with a one-time security guard saying he saw the singer shower with and perform oral sex on a boy who later received a settlement with Jackson.

The defence systematically portrayed the household help as disgruntled employees who were angry about being fired and peddled gossip about the pop star to the supermarket tabloids.

The defence also relentlessly attacked the credibility of the accuser and his family, namely by focusing on a $US152,000 ($198,150) settlement they received from J C Penney after the mother accused store security guards of roughing up the family and groping her.

Jackson's lawyers said it was a trumped-up lawsuit and suggested that the woman's injuries were actually caused by her abusive then-husband.

The defence also portrayed the mother as a welfare cheat for obtaining benefits after winning the settlement.

Witnesses for the defence testified that during the weeks the boy and his family were supposedly being held against their will by Jackson's associates, they were taken on shopping sprees, the mother went to a spa for a body wax, and the children had an orthodontist appointment - all paid for by Jackson.

In his closing argument, Jackson lawyer Thomas Mesereau Jr called the family a pack of scam artists trying to pull off the "the biggest con of their careers".

Jackson never took the stand, but spoke on several videos played in court.

The case unfolded at times like a circus. After his arraignment, Jackson jumped atop an SUV and danced for cheering fans.

He failed to show up for court one morning and was nearly jailed before he shuffled in wearing pyjama bottoms, suffering from what aides said was a back injury.

Often, he came to court in dark jackets and a rainbow of vests and matching arm bands.

The jury got a look at the strange world of Michael Jackson when the documentary was played in court. Jackson said he would often hug or play with his chimp Bubbles to relax after a hard day's work. He also said he once considered having a celebrity animal party for Bubbles.

Several celebrities testified for Jackson, including Macaulay Culkin and comedians Jay Leno and Chris Tucker.

Tucker said he felt used by the family and warned Jackson to beware.

Culkin said he slept in Jackson's bed as a child but nothing improper ever happened, contradicting testimony that Jackson put his hands up the Home Alone actor's shorts.

In jumbled and tearful testimony, the accuser's mother claimed that

Jackson's associates held her against her will, warning her that killers were after the family and that they might somehow disappear from Neverland in a hot-air balloon.

"Please don't judge me!" the mother implored jurors, holding out her arms.

"He's wrong!" she said, pointing at Mesereau, an aggressive defence lawyer with a mane of pure white hair and the build of a prize fighter.

The prosecution was led by Santa Barbara County District Attorney Tom Sneddon, who displayed open hostility for Jackson and eagerly tried him - an opportunity denied him in 1993 when the star settled another threatened molestation case with a boy for $US15 million to $US20 million.
Later, Jackson derided Sneddon in song as "a cold man".

The trial seemed to wear Jackson down. He lost weight, and the artist known for his electric, moonwalking performances was rendered motionless, seemingly frozen in his courtroom chair as his private world became utterly public.

Prosecutors portrayed Jackson as being in dire financial straits because of heavy spending. Jackson's Thriller album from 1982 is one of the best-selling albums of all time, but his dominance of pop music eroded around the time molestation allegations began to arise in the 1990s.

Although Jackson did not take the stand, the defence used a powerful tape of him shot by his own video cameraman. The jury saw nearly three hours of introspection during which the star talked about his troubled childhood.

"I haven't been betrayed or deceived by children," he said. "Adults have let me down."

Aww, how cute, a dove per charge. The world sure FEELS much more peaceful now that Michael Jackson is acquitted.

If I was MJ, I'd be trying to get my porn back.

Okay, edit, for kicks I went to MJJsource.com, which is the offical Jackson site, and he is comparing his acquittal to the birth of Martin Luthor King Jr and the fall of the Berlin Wall. I am so not shitting you.

How was it wrong? The prosecution never proved their case beyond a reasonable doubt.

Well hopefully he's just a weirdo who lacks maturity and proper judgement.

If he continued to have kids sleep in his bed after this I would think he's up to something. 18 years and 18 months in prison should be enough to scare the sense into him. Mind you he didn't stop having kids in his bed after the one molestation case back in the day.

Hmm.

Exactly, There was no way they would be able to protect him from the general population. I heard they were going to have to put him in solitary with the likes of Charles Manson to keep him alive.

The guy obvious is in need of some serious help regardless of the outcome (which should have been guilty). They could have recommended therapy or something.

I think it's fairly incriminating when he says, "If I can't *be* with children, I'll kill myself"

That indicates more than just being around kids, to me anyway. I just think it's creepy. Plus, there was that whole Martin Bashear interview... :/

Man, Jacko was pretty busy with the trials, I doubt that in 10 years (Which most of the new accusers would be 20 by then) there would be much accurers as there is today...

I was hoping he was guilty. I mean, jeez, there was alot of evidence against Wacko Jacko, then again, there was alot of evidence discr editing the evidences against Jacko.

Now that the cirus is over, I wonder what the media is gonna suck the blood out now...

I love this quote off Fark
Quote:
"We, the jury, find Michael Jackson to be...a freak"
"I meant the Verdict"

The best quote off of Fark for this whole incident was "Unlike the penis of a small child, Michael Jackson's fate is not in his hands"

Even if the evidence was not credible for some of the charges, at least convict him on some of the lesser charges, such as conspiracy.
The dude has a sensor that lets him know if someone is approaching his bedroom, and in that same bedroom, he sleeps with little kids. Do the math. The man is guilty, and like OJ and Martha (Martha being guilty means nothing, she spent a couple months in a resort), they got off.

Uh...the accusers said there was a sensor. AFAIK, it was a load of BS.

As for the whole "celebrity" argument, if there's ANY celebrity whom being so hurts, it's Michael Jackson. Yes, there was a load of fans outside the courtroom, but how many other people (as evidenced by this thread) think he is a freak, already decided he molests children before these charges even took places, and just generally dislike or are disturbed by him. Now, take a random sampling of 12 people...maybe ONE of them is going to fall into the "fan" category. These jurors found him "not guilty" on the evidence alone, not on the basis of his "celebrity."

If Jackson doesn't want to go through this kind of legal strife, why on earth does he continue his somewhat questionable lifestyle? After the first trial, there was some hooplah about him starting a charity, and I thought, hey, that's a good idea, great way to move above the negative press. Then he anounced it was a CHILDREN'S charity. Awwwwww Mike, when will you learn?

But this man or whatever you would call it, definitly has some massive issues. There is no excuse for the things he has done, and his popularity and money are what saved his ass. If he was just any other joe schmoe this case would have been done and overwith long ago and had been guilty.

To be fair, Scott Peterson wasn't a celebrity until America became googley eyed with his dead pregnant wife. So, I can kind of see where Ng is coming from.

Martha Stewart wasn't convicted solely on her wealth, she was convicted because she's a woman in a powerful position. Other fuckers, just as guilty have yet to serve any jail time because they're sans vagina.

All that being said....

I really don't care that Jackson was found not-guilty. On the one hand, if there's smoke, and there's been a whole lot of smoke, don't you think?, then there's got to be a fire somewhere. I mean, there was the almost court case a couple of years ago, the more recent fiasco and, as I understand it, several kids/parents he's paid off over the years. So, are all of them lying? Have we really been hounding this guy that much for nothing? Probably not. If it walks like a duck, talks like a duck..it must be a pedophile.

On the other hand, these folks that had him brought to trial were probably trying to milk the 'King of Pop' for a little bit of money. The stories just didn't seem to add up not to mention the history (if I understand it correctly) of the family doing this kind of shit before.

So, is he guilty? Probably not in this instance. He's definately got some problems, though, no doubt about that.

The prosecution blew this case by the charges that they filed. Conspiracy? That'd be pretty tough to prove...

I was watching an interview with Nancy Grace this morning, Ok, so she's a little looney, but she was adament that he should be tried and convicted on what he's done the other 364 days of the year, that it doesn't m atter if this kid's family was lying, he's definitely did it in the past therefor he should be convicted.

Just that someone would beleive that is astounding. It sets a really bad precedent to be able to convict someone on their prior history

This is why I think people should write and get Nancy Grace out of the tv. She's a perfect example of what was wrong with the justice system and what's currently wrong with the media. She's so completely biased that it makes me sick to even see her make up crusted face.

An observation:
Those who say he's guilty typically say it like this:
"He's a guilty pervert who should be put to death. No! An easy death is too good for him, let's chop his balls off and let him bleed to death."

Whereas those who say he's innocent: (Apart from a few nutters)
"There's no good evidence to say he's guilty, I'm going to stick with innocent."

Also, very few people have had access to all the evidence that the trial jury has had access to.
I'm convinced that the only reason people say he's guilty is because they don't like him as a person and want something bad to happen to him. There's pretty much no balanced reasoning going on here and certainly no knowledge of what actually went on. You can't imprison someone based on what *might* have happened, if you do the legal system falls apart instantly.

I said it in the beginning, though I'm sure no one heard me, and here I am saying it once again: He's not guilty. He never was. Sure, he's a freak in the respect of his behaviour and looks but he's still a human being. He's odd and that's why others don't understand him...I'm happy to hear the news. Hopefully now people will leave him alone.

Whey will these people get off the M.J. train anyway? Just leave that poor mentally fucked up social retard alone. Being treated like Jesus Christ from a young age has got to fuck you up. What do you expect? Fucking Chip Cunningham?, All american, well ajusted, socially acceptable, emmotionally grounded? Hes a product of his upbringing. Leave the poor pathetic fucker alone. Go pick on Eminem or something.
