Who is more obsessed with breast size?

As seen in this thread: http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/tilted-...-big-dick.html the discussion started turning to another question entirely...

Who is more obsessed with breast size? Men or women?

Do women want larger breasts to please themselves, men, or other women? Are men obsessed with breast size because they desire larger breasts on women?

I am sure there are other questions that will pop up as we explore this issue.

Personally, I'm fine with my breasts. I went through torture as an adolescent because I was the first girl in my school to really get them. I've never wanted larger breasts. I think the reasons as to why other women may want larger breasts are complicated; because I can't relate to them, it's difficult for me to speculate, but I think part of it--especially in adult women--is motivated by outside observations of other women. I think we just lay the blame on men--"oh, I wanted guys to notice me, so I got implants." I call BS: most guys I know don't mind implants in porn, but in real life is different. In my own life, the observations of other women were what made having breasts so young difficult. It gets really old to be asked for a tissue by the same two girls every day in 7th grade.

So what's your take on it?

Good question! For years I've thought that women are actually more concerned with breast size than men are. I've heard more women talk about how small they are than men ever make comments about how small a woman's breast are. In fact, usually the woman who think they are small, I've never considered small. I think too many woman have bought inot thinking all men care about is breast size, and that's not universally true. It sure isn't for me.

As a woman who spent the greater part of her life as a small-ish B cup but is now (due to weight gain) a large-ish C cup, I have to say that I love having larger breasts. I just like the way they look and feel. The only time that the observations of other people come into it is when I am actively trying to engage other people in looking at them, lol. I can't speak for anyone else, of course, but competition has nothing to do with it.

As for men not liking implants in real life, I have to differ. There are plenty of guys who dig perfectly round, perky implants. Just as there are plenty of men who prefer 'itty bitties,' 'hangers,' and 'milk jugs.' It's just a matter of an individual's taste. As for why women get them, I think the reasons vary between self-image needs and wanting to look more 'desirable.'

I prefer mine small, like they were pre-childbirth. I was the opposite of you, snowy. They used to chant "flatsy" at me, after these flat dolls they made back in the stone age.

No longer though. I don't like that I often have to buy tops in a larger size just so the buttons won't pop. If I don't want to wear a higher cut top, there are concerns that my cleavage is just too much. I find larger to be more of a hindrance, other than the fact that some men may find it sexier or more attractive. No offense, but I couldn't care less what a woman thinks of my breasts.

I think that women are buying into the marketed perfection of the Victoria's Secret body. The fact that training bras no longer really exist; they've been replaced by underwired lifting bras that make young girls look like they have more, adding to the idea that larger is the way to go. It seems that breast size for young women equates to penis size for men. Smaller means you're less of a woman? Sad times.

As to implants, I think women like to think they do it for other women, but I believe they're afraid to admit they do it for men. It's easier to blame it on women rather than admit they want to feel sexually competitive.

As to who's more obsessed -- probably the women. Either men say this to women to get into their pants or the utterances I used to hear were true. "More than a handful is a waste."

oh, and to answer the question, I think both men and women are equally obsessed with breast size...only the question of size does not always favor 'larger.' It is different from penis size in this way.

I'm obsessed with breasts not based on size, but rather because it's that wonderful meeting of innate sexual urges and cultural wonder/taboo. They're fucking awesome, big ones, little ones, lean ones, sideways ones, pointy ones, fluffy ones, etc. etc. They're astounding. I know women can be obsessed about how they look, but I highly doubt they'd go to the lengths men go to in order to see or feel breasts. In part, breasts are a big part (tee hee) of why men get jobs, get in shape, learn to cook, develop socially laudable chivalry-related skills, and all that jazz.

That's not to say we don't really love women's personalities, their likes and dislikes, their opinions, their fears, hopes and dreams, and other more deep attributes. It's just lucky for us that attached to the deep, meaningful, wonderful person are a pair of lovely breasts. They're the ultimate icing.

Women in my personal experience. I only care if they're extremely large or extremely small (don't like either). All that's inbetween (96% of women) I love and am obsessed with like Will said. And even if they don't have the best of breasts, there's still so much else to love. I'm big on asses. Then there's legs, face, hair, stomach, etc. Much like a guys dick size, it really doesn't matter much.

Some of the hottest women I've ever met had small breasts.

I will re-assert my statement from the other thread: In my experience, women value the admiration of other women far more than they value the admiration of men.

Men are obsessed with boobs - primarily because we don't have them. But women are far more obsessed with the appearance of their boobs than men are. There's a lot of money in convincing women they are inadequate and sometimes this onslaught is successful in breaking down some women who are, quite frankly, perfect. Perhaps not in the "vitruvian" sense, but what was that line from Last Samurai? "They are all perfect."

Being a naturally large breasted woman, I have always been happy with them. Some would say they are too large, but most just remain fascinated by them....I would say that men are more obsessed with breast size. But I get oggled by most men and some women, but being the big breasted person I see things from a different angle.....

I like larger breasts on other women. Not ginormous, but prefer a D to an A. It's what women (usually) have over a man that I am attracted to. It's what I like.

I am a big fan of my breasts. They are a 38DD and soft and supple. They are one of my weapons of attraction.

I am paranoid about cancer. I am inevitably going to get it. YAY HEREDITY!!!! I think about it a lot and what types I would most likely get. I do NOT want breast cancer. (it's one of the many kinds in my family) I do not want to have to cut my breasts off. They are part of my identity. I know it's a weird thought, but it's what goes through my head.

I've known a handful of gals who have had implants, and I'd say all of them except one did it to enhance their sex appeal (i.e. make them more attractive than other women). Funnily enough, 2 of them were married when they got the procedure done. Myself, I'm happy with mine. I am a large C or small D, depending on the bra. I used to be a small B but my breasts got bigger after I had my son and they've pretty much stayed the same, despite some weight fluctuations.

A couple of years ago a bunch of women I worked with had an overnight girls only retreat. As we all sat around a campfire, we started talking about boobs. One woman after another lamented about her breasts - too small, too saggy, too many stretch marks (I don't think I heard too big). Out of ten or so women, I was the only one who was content. After saying so, one of the girls told me I should be happy because I had a "fantastic rack". I guess it was something she'd noticed. She was also the most vocal about her unhappiness with her own body.

In answer to the OP - I think women are more obsessed, but probably only slightly.

I think women are more obessed with breast size, most specifically their own. Every human capable of rational thought periodically obesses about some physical part of their body, whether that obession is attractiveness or disease or something altogether different. Given that women have the majority of breasts in the world, they're more likely to think about them and obsess about them.

I think guys were much more obsessed about breast size last generation. I think, since more and more women got implants, more and more guys are beginning to understand that quality is better than quantity.

I know for me, I would always, always rather see/touch really nice natural breasts than odd-looking/feeling fake breasts. That goes for porn and real life. Fake boobs are not sexy.

Look, do men like big boobs? Sure, of course we do. Does that mean we don't like the smaller ones, too? Not at all.

For me, at least, it's always been about proportion and shape. I basically have two female types that attract me most. The first is curvy, voluptuous, with big boobs, junk in the trunk, and good, load-bearing hips, like a medieval serving wench. The second is slim, willowy, with long, long legs and small, very firm breasts, like a ballet dancer (this type is rare, mostly because even most ballet dancers don't naturally have the bodies of ballet dancers, and have forced slightly less willowy bodies to be thinner than they're supposed to be)-- she should be naturally built slim, not starved and looking like she'd be hot if you took her someplace and fed her sandwiches for a month.

One of those two types comes with big, bouncy D-cups (or above). One of those two types comes with A-cups. Both are awesome. And the fact that those are my usual types doesn't mean I don't look and appreciate (or have, in the past, felt and appreciated) women with other body types, with B-cup or C-cup size boobs, in all different shapes and sizes.

Dudes like boobs. But dudes like chicks is really the more accurate statement.

I think that the whole big fake boob thing is being perpetuated a lot by the mainstream porn industry, which doesn't really market to most normal guys, but to the lowest common denominator among guys, which is the Bobby Joe McSleazy Workin' At The Plant Drinkin' Beer Watchin' NASCAR type that will snicker about boob size endlessly because he never really left sixth grade, and will nonetheless put his dick into anyone or anything, no matter what or who's attached to the hole. Personally, I think that's why the internet's such a blessing: dudes find what they like. And so do chicks.

Frankly, I think women are getting much more screwed by the fashion industry, which just doesn't seem to understand how not to try and make women into anorexics and bulimics.

My issues with size are more in the extremes. I don't like very flat chests (ie all nipple no breast) and I don't like massive breasts (too much of a good thing). Nice responsive nipples and enough flesh to play with, and I am very happy.

That said, there is a big difference between eye candy and breast in bed. I think implants are great to look at but just not all that fun to play with.

I'm not a breast person either. I could care less about their size, and it's not a reason I would choose one girl over another.

And implants actually make them worse than what they were naturally in 90% of the cases after you get the shirt off...

I'm not in a position to comment on woman vs. woman competition to enhance their image.

It might have been interesting if this were a poll. We could then see at a glance which sexes think which sexes are more obsessed with breast size.

I agree with many here. I'm not obsessed with size. I love to look at nicely proportioned breasts (not too large or small for the body). It's part of the package.

I prefer a natural breast with functioning nipples and soft skin. I'm not too fond of tattoos or piercings.

I can't speak to how much importance women put on other women's breasts but our culture is obsessed with breast size. Here you can't even air them out in public without risk of punishment by law. I mean, as a man, I'm naturally intrigued by breasts, I love the way they jiggle around and point out when it starts getting cold outside and I'm probably even more attracted to them for the simple fact that they have to be covered up all the time. But as far as the size of them goes, bigger is not necessarily better or worse.

All the conversations about actual and differing breast size, for the most part, I've had with other women.

When talking about breasts with guys.... its more about their actual existence on my person.

So based on my research.. I would say gals.

Basically legs and ass > big breasts.

I don't see the purpose or use of drawing the obsession with breasts down gender lines. You are going to get variations amongst individuals despite whether they're men or women.

I think that if we're going to generalize that we should be willing to admit that society, in general, is obsessed with breasts. This obsession takes on both negative and positive properties.

Not necessarily. I have a plan.

Oh, wise BG, but there is a purpose.

What about the fact that breastfeeding is considered a faux pas in the USA? I remember attempting to discreetly breastfeed my infant in a public place some years ago. Despite the fact that nothing was 'whipped out' and the girls were fully covered, I was removed from that location and people stared at me as though I had a red "A" imprinted on my breast, rather than a tiny infant suckling there.

I've seen similar news stories continue, and the advent of nursing areas in ladies' rest rooms. Nurse my baby two feet from a toilet? Really? Even smokers are treated with more respect.

And why? Because the conservative American woman says so. We know the men wouldn't give a damn. Breasts are all about love. Despite the objectification of them in this country, men love 'em. But American women feel threatened when their man might catch a glimpse of another's glory and will stop at nothing to keep that temptation from their man. Hide them!

Hide them!

Who's obsessed?
There is a long history of this obsession with sexuality and the female body. There were pre-Christian cultures who virtually worshiped the female body, tying it into fertility and healing. However, with the advent of patriarchal Christian societies, you get this infusion of sin and shame when regarding the female body and its functions. (The American Puritans were a late development.)

There was a time when a woman was forced to go into hiding when she was menstruating, because this blood was considered impure and filthy. Today we have the running horror comedy joke: "If it bleeds for a week and doesn't die, it's not to be trusted." But the very spirit of this dates all the way back to this ancient time when women and their bodies were subjugated by various means.

I think that this has very male-centric reasons behind it. I could go into evolutionary theory and state how men have quite a disadvantage compared to women with regard to parentage, etc., but I think we'd be getting too far off topic. I guess my point is that I think our contemporary views of the female body have an ancient lineage with a patriarchal source. I'm sure you could find a number of feminists who would agree that contemporary women are self-regulating in this as a matter of habit and expectation.

So generally we have this nasty mix of the female body as unclean, the female body as temptation, the female body as property to be guarded. Basically, the female body as object instilled with desire, anxiety, and fear.

This is why, I suppose, I felt it futile to draw gender lines. Both genders are complicit in this to a degree. The only real reason to draw lines would be to make distinctions in how each obsession takes form and operates. I don't see this as a useful means to determine who is more obsessed.

I feel sheltered. Never heard this before. And who's we?

Desire, anxiety and fear = obsession? Sounds more like confusion. Although one's got to wonder how many men have nightmares of being chased by a pair of large breasts...

Men everywhere, apparently. We also have colorful terms like "shark week" and "chumming."

I meant "we" as in "society." I've heard this joke more than once. I think one was an amateur horror short, and the other time I can't remember.

So I guess North America? Thought I wouldn't doubt it if it were going around elsewhere.

And the whole desire, anxiety, fear thing: yeah, it's what fuels the obsession.
