Just Sexy Politics
I thought the other thread was going to be about this actually, but I will bring it up...
Why is it that the conservative women on TV are a lot more attractive than any left-leaning woman on TV? There are a few Hollywood actresses that might make a statement or two supporting the Democrats, but on Fox News, The View, on-line and even in office it seems like there is a shutout against attractive women speaking about progressive viewpoints. And you have the Playboy article that got some negative attention last year about who there is. The Playboy Article (NSFW) | RedState |

What better way to shovel infotainment? Keep you dazed from visual input as well as aural.
They use attractive women to cover up their immense pile of bullshit and incredibly selfish pro-God pro-industry pro-war pro-life pro-white agenda? You can distract decent men with tits all day. I've seen it happen. Somebody just recently posted that FOX News tit-juggle .GIF, didn't they? ... Women-as-sex-objects discussions like this is part of the reason why politics are all dicked up *rimshot* in the first place. I don't care what type of equipment my elected representative has in their underwear or how ugly they are if they do the job. America the Retarded loves Sarah "Beauty Queen 'n Shit-fer-Brains" Palin. I've seen the bumper stickers. And it scares me. Last edited by Plan9; 09-01-2010 at 08:00 PM.. |

People on the right are better at business? I say that a little tongue in cheek but what self respecting liberal is going to stand for women being turned into sex objects for the purpose...of well anything, especially for political talk. Conservative broadcasters don't mind exploiting that to the extreme if it means one more viewer will tune in just for cleavage and blow job eyes. If the numbers are the same as they have been the last few years, Fox News is the number one news station in America. Correlation? I really don't know but I'm sure it hasn't hurt.
I mean we use sex to sell everything else with great success why should we be surprised when politicians and news agencies start doing it too? I know I'm stereotyping the fuck out of both sides here but I do think its true to some extent...its all about playing to your target audience.

*And Fox News wouldn't be #1 if you added up all the normal viewers of the other news channels put together. It's kind of if the GOP had a primary and only one winner went into the general election vs 6 Democrats/Left-wing candidates who would split the votes. An I'm not complaining that the GOP does this, I think if they have attractive women that are qualified (or will change their opinions until they are qualified), that is fine. But, I am wondering why there aren't any 25-40 year old models getting into this line of work with the democrats? Just because a woman is hot, doesn't mean that putting her on TV talk shows or in front of groups of people is exploiting. That is if she is really smart and can convey her stances on the issues well. Last edited by ASU2003; 09-01-2010 at 09:36 PM.. |

Pssh, Democratic women are sexy. Kirsten Gillibrand, Democratic Senator from New York, is quite beautiful.
The thing is, women on the left don't appear willing to pander to sexists in order to secure a vote. Senator Boxer wouldn't be caught dead winking at an audience to get a vote because she has something called dignity. I suspect she also has self-respect. Sarah Palin may be considered attractive for her age (I swear, I don't see it), but she's also borderline retarded and she's a walking, talking gimmick. Her elevation by the right is the biggest slap in the face to women in a generation. She's an idiot, but she's okay to look at, therefore the right accepts her. |

As for politicians and such its kind of a toss up as well for me, again depending on your definition of attractive they exist on both sides. I don't find Sarah attractive at all, some do (it seems a lot do) but what the hell they found a looker might as well run with it.

Well lets face it, nerds are smart and when was the last time you saw a nerd on the cover of vogue? I wanna see retainers, funny cowlicks, pocket protectors, coke bottle glasses, comically high pants, the complete and udder inability to match anything...somebody who hasn't gotten laid in decades. That will get this country back on track...I mean really since when did anybody ever put faith in the attractive people to get anything done? They're too busy being invited places and and doing popular people things to put any thought into trivial matters like the economy.
And I'm really about 98% serious about that too, all kidding aside we put way to much emphasis on looks in this country for our own good. Imagine some of the brains we've passed over because they didn't look good on tv.

Typical right-wing politics: "Shhh! Don't worry your li'l ole head about all those rights we're taking away and all the ways we're going to screw you so the rich and powerful get more rich and powerful.... Just look at these boobies!"
The sad thing is, I'm sure the Democrats would play this game, too, if they weren't existentially paralyzed by having their collective head up their ass....
