I mean we use sex to sell everything else with great success why should we be surprised when politicians and news agencies start doing it too?
I know I'm stereotyping the fuck out of both sides here but I do think its true to some extent...its all about playing to your target audience.

I don't think that the GOP paid off these women to have the views they do. But, I do think they had normal media auditions and went with the old adage 'Sex Sells'.
Can't Take My Eyes Off You: Study Shows the Power of Attraction
*And Fox News wouldn't be #1 if you added up all the normal viewers of the other news channels put together. It's kind of if the GOP had a primary and only one winner went into the general election vs 6 Democrats/Left-wing candidates who would split the votes.
An I'm not complaining that the GOP does this, I think if they have attractive women that are qualified (or will change their opinions until they are qualified), that is fine. But, I am wondering why there aren't any 25-40 year old models getting into this line of work with the democrats? Just because a woman is hot, doesn't mean that putting her on TV talk shows or in front of groups of people is exploiting. That is if she is really smart and can convey her stances on the issues well.
