Omg that looks like a Corvette...WTF! |
Powerclown - That GT is BADASS! Damn I want to drive one of those.
I haven't seen anything fantastic in awhile unfortunately. As far as rare though, does rarity count as frequency of sightings? If so, my dad and I have had several rarities over the years. He's always liked unusual cars. Jags, Rolls, MG, Opel, etc. Probably common fair in Bristol or something, but when you grow up in a small town in KY, they suren't common. When I was in high school we had a 1971 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow. Definitely stood out in town. Now he has a pristine 89 Jaguar XJS hardtop. My first car (in 1992) was a 1970 Opel GT (looks like a little tiny foreign made corvette or something). Probably the most unusual vehicle we had though was a mid 70's model International Pickup Truck. I've never seen another one since anywhere. Of course, the most rare privately owned vehicle I've seen was a friend of my dad's who owned a Half-Track military vehicle. Sure don't see those every day. Back to the exotic though... I did see a sweet Ferrari a few months back just cruise by me in traffic in downtown Memphis and I was just like, "wha, who, holy, sweet jesus that's awesome" and I had no idea what the model was. I just stared at it dumbly while my consultant rep was driving me to lunch. She just laughed at me like I was a silly little boy. Oh well. At least some women get it :). |
I saw a black bentley continental gt with black wheels going north on 146 a while ago. Damn fine looking machine. I also saw an ev1 on several ocassions, though I haven't for several months.
|
There is a Ford GT in town the guy that bought it will pick it up this weekend or he did yesterday....I hope to have digi on me when I see it:)
|
A neighbor used to own THE white Ford T-Bird from the movie American Grafitti. Kept it in his garage under a sheet. It always won awards at the local car shows.
Don't know why, but I tend to gravitate towards the oldies. Saw a Chrysler 300G a month ago, decided I want a convertable 300-letter car of my own some day. |
saw a porche 911, a vw thing, and a meyers manx today. Nice days bring them all out.

Way too many posts for me to look through to locate one but I owned one of these in the middle 70's...one of those barn finds, a buddy and I came up with the $350.00 required to purchase it...yeah it needed some restoring but we got 5k for when we got it running: Facel Vega

Is a new Corvette Z06 rare?
if so there is 2 in town now a blue one thats already modded and a stock red one...damn they look sexier in person! |

Last friday after leaving Halx and zkara in the Village, I came across a Aston Martin DB9 convertible

i see a Lamborghini Murcielago every once in a while. On the way to the train station I pass by a CL63 AMG, and if I get lucky, I see a Nissan Skyline GT-R on Tuesdays. There is a local car show about 2 miles north of me, so thats where the GT-R is going. Remember, I'm in the USA, the Skyline GT-R was never sold here.

I guess this question is sort of the opposite of what this thread is about:
I don't recall seeing it mentioned in this thread, and I just used "search this thread" above with no hits, so I'll say it: Though they are extremely rare, I'm surprised no one has seen a McLaren F1 yet on the street. my bad, not paying attention. I was just going thru this thread again and in fact, the McLaren F1 was already sited in earlier posts. |

where do i start I totally forgot about this thread, seen so many new and old rare cars the list is huge and well I forget most of them.
- 1967 Ford Mustang Mach 1 - 2006 Dodge Charger SRT8 - and 3 different Cuda's( not sure years) - 6 Different Corvette Z06 (06/07) - last gen Viper (getting its ass handed to it on the highway by one of them Z06's:)) - Ferrari F430 Spider - 2 Ford GT's - and couple exotics I have no idea what they where...lol |

I saw a Bentley Continental GT on the way in to work this morning
http://kelston.org.uk/assets/images/...-_1024x768.jpg |
Just saw a Mercedes Benz 190E 2.3-16. Those cars are almost as cool as the original BMW M3's
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b3...nz190e2316.jpg They don't look fast, but 0-60 in 7.5 seconds back in 1985 was blazing and they did give BMW a run for their money in DTM racing. |
At my old work i saw:
Lambo Gallardo Aston DB7 Aston V8 Vantage (new one) Bently GT (they suck, get an Aston DB9) Rolls Royce (no clue which one) Bently Arnage Many many old Jaguar XK's A couple of new Jag XK's The above racing Merc Hard top & Convertable BMW M3's BMW M5 BMW M6 I missed the Aston DB9 because i was on the crapper (dangit) Ford Mustang (rare over here) CL600 (new one, brand spanking 2007 plate) SL55 SL63 CLS 63 (mmmmmmmmmmmmmm...sexy) Several other AMG Mercs And many others which i will update at a later date |
I just walked past a GM Suburban that said "Powered by Ethanol"
NYPD vehicle... never seen one before. |
The XJ220 Jag is very rare, so even though this one is in a local dealer's showroom (Algar - Rosemont PA, Ferrari/Alfa dealer) I'm posting it anyway ...not to mention it's sitting next to an F40 so how often do you see those next to each other? Not to mention, the Porsche Carrera GT that I reported on page three of this thread was sitting in their customer parking area:

Saw a whole semi full of VWs in Perkins, Oklahoma but what really caught my eye was the R32 sitting on top pretty badass little car.
http://www.carpages.co.uk/volkswagen...f_10_08_05.jpg There was also a Yellow Gli Fahrenheit and an Orange Gti Fahrenheit (just found out only 1200 will be made in the orange and yellow each). It was a colorful car hauler for sure. |
That yellow and orange colorful hauler comment by Cycler reminded me that I've spotted the O-so-rare Oscar Meyer Weinermobile a couple times around this area in the last two years:

What a great weekend to be car spotting....
Friday night was a great one all in the Greenwich Village standing at 6th Avenue and 3rd Street in front of the IFC Theater. Lotus Exige Aston Martin DB9 Coupe Ferrari 430 Sypder this time in blue Ford Excursion Limo Yesterday in SoHo on the way home... Lamborghini Murciélago Black almost forgot, and this morning I saw that same Nissan Skyline GT-R I saw in Chinatown the other week as I walked to the office |
Just my somewhat tilted discussion about "rare cars":
The title of this thread is "Rare Car Sightings" and I'm not trying to nitpick all the very cool car sightings reported here since I greatly enjoy checking them out on a regular basis and posting some myself. But I was thinking about how "rare" sightings depend on location and perspective. However, in the long run, rare really depends on the total number sold or still in existence. One thing that made me consider this is that the sporty car I drive is actually more "rare" than many of the exotic but not-so-rare cars reported here. In the U.S. there were about a total of 7000 Toyota Supra turbo models sold from 1993 to 1998 when sales stopped. Of those, about 4000 had the 6 speed transmission like mine, the rest were auto trans. This probably accounts for why I see more Bentleys, Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Aston Martins, etc. than Supras. For comparison, this is a production note I found about the Aston Martin DB9 comparing it to the Ferrari F430 and 911 Turbo Porsche: "...As of 2004 production is expected be up to five thousand units a year which is roughly the same as its rivals, in particular the Ferrari F430 and Porsche 911 Turbo..." I also found this statistic in a discussion about the release of the Ferrari F430, the numbers refer to the 360 model: "...Since 1999, more than 17,000 Berlinettas, Spiders and Challenge Stradales have rolled off the Maranello assembly line. So the F430, whose first-year worldwide production of 2000 cars is already spoken for, has some big Italian loafers to fill..." From what I can find, it seems that there have been over 2500 Lamborghini Murciélagos sold so far, and well over 3000 Gallardos. As for the Bentley GT, most of Bentley's current production is the GT but all I could find was this about total Bentley production: nearly 9000 units in 2006. Hey, I'm not bashing any of these other cool cars. If anybody wants to trade a "not so rare" Ferrari F430 or Bentlety GT for my "rare" Supra, please PM me real soon ;) |
Yes, the other night, I saw a rare car...
a cherry AMC Eagle Wagon... except it was blue http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...agle_wagon.jpg |
I saw a Shelby GT-H mustang today. Not the old ones, but the new ones, and this one was a droptop. Didn't know they made convertible versions of it.
This car is so rare I couldn't even Google up a picture of a droptop GT-H. |
I'm batting 2 for 2 when it comes to Shelby Mustang convertibles. This time it was a black '66 at a corner in Hoboken. I wish I had my camera for this one, it was so beautiful.

In 15 years of production, less than 9000 NSXs were brought into the country. We've been having a discussion over at NSXPrime, trying to guesstimate how many might survive today. Most agree the number is surely under 7000 now but there's no way to know for sure. It seems like equal numbers become track rats versus garage queens. |
bodypainter,
Your NSX is another example of an actual rare car, as opposed to something that some people just don't see too often. Your number crunching made me look into mine, too. My black '95 Supra turbo 6 speed with sport roof is one of 145 sold with that combination in 1995, mine is number 91. In 1995 there were a total of 526 turbo 6 speed sport roof models sold in the U.S. In the Supra community we also talk about how many are still left, how many are trashed or butchered to shame. No actual pics of the sighting, but yesterday driving with my kids a couple blocks from our home I look over in surprise and say to my older boy who's been a sort of car nut since he was 2 yrs old "do you know what that is?" and he confidently says "wow, dad, that's a Maybach!". I thought I'd stump him on that but nooooo ;) It was "just" a 57S like this ...rolling jewelry: http://images.worldcarfans.com/photo...01/1015big.jpg |
I found another goodie. A Studebaker Avanti. Pics coming this afternoon.
|
Yesterday on my way home from work ~5:30pm on the PA Turnpike westbound around Ft. Washington, I see a car carrier truck ahead of me in the center lane with some suspiciously interesting looking lights on a couple cars loaded on it. So I suddenly remember that my digital camera is in the car and I'm fantasizing what a great post this would be at TFP and I'm fumbling for the cam, get it out and turn it on, didn't go on so I turn it on again, just then the truck pulls into the right hand lane and with all the traffic around I didn't want to slow down too much so I just had to pass it. Soooo.... you'll just have to take my word for it but the top car on back was a Ferrari Testarossa of the more recent variety exactly like this:
http://www.fantasycars.com/derek/car...starossa_1.jpg Under the TR was a more common but still quite nice and interesting Ferrari 360 Modena in an interesting blue/gray color. Also on the trailer was a Viper GTS, a BMW Z3 of some sort, some kind of moded looking Honda S2000, and an older Corvette. |

I also saw a Bentley Continental GT the other day and I almost threw up. No car exists that is worse than a Bentley, imho.
|
I don't know what to make of your comment, willravel, because I like the Bentley GT's. I can see getting one someday when they depreciate to my budget ...which I think they actually have a good chance of doing, since there are so many around and they get a bad rap for being so popular with sports, rap, and other "stars". But once that image problem blows over, I'd drive one with pleasure. Of course I like the big 4 door Bentleys and RR's too so maybe we're just on different pages with these cars.
|
Like I said, imho. A lot of people love Bentleys, and I respect that. I personally think they are the Escalade of the ultra luxury car world. They're too common, they aren't worth a fraction of what they cost, and they're cheesy. If you're throwing $170,000 down for a car, I'm getting something that has subtle elegance and class. I don't want something that commonly gets Giovanni rims and leopard print. You can get a DB9 or a fully loaded CL Class with that kind of cash, and you'll be getting a much better car. Again, imho.

these are what I call rare cars,if you missed my post.....

A couple days ago I saw another Amphicar driving thru our neighborhood ...it's one of those strangely cute/odd little cars with propellers on back that can drive right into the water and boat-around. I hear they are quite rare but due to a local collection of Amphicar collectors around Philadelphia there seems to be a larger number here than in most areas.
http://www.amphicar.com/images/white2.jpg http://www.amphicar.com/images/vinta...r_in_water.jpg |
^^ Boy that brings back some memories. When I was a kid, my parents had a vacation place on a lake and the family next door had one of those cars. That used to be the highlight of the trip when we'd get to cross the lake in the car. Good times!
|
Well, no pics of the Avanti, unfortunately, the one shot I took didn't come out right.
But I did see a '64 Corvette convertible cruising top down along the New Jersey Turnpike. I think those 'vettes are the epitome of automotive coolness. |
QM,
do you know if it was an "original" Avanti or one of the later versions? Unless you really know the car, it's kind of hard to tell. Here's a pic of an original and a nice page showing the chronology of the Avanti: http://www.theavanti.com/services_chronology.htm http://www.theavanti.com/images/optional.jpg |
I bet there's not a lot of these driving around. Philadelphia has a couple that are used for sightseeing tours around town.

saw the weiner mobile a week or so ago on the highway, see ford gt's almost every day (very popular with the ballers in augusta), saw a gallardo a few days ago, went to the this female friend of mine's house today, she has a '93 Cobra R and a '95 Cobra R, both of which are NHRA Super Stock cars

there's a ton of those in Boston, they used them for the parade when the Red Sox won the World Series, or the "Rolling Rally." supposedly they made over 20,000 of them. In a way you're right, compared to how many were made there can't be many remaining, but I guess the same can be said for any WWII era vehicle. |

Hi Guy's Some Great Car's,
How do I post an image of a car too ? ..Do I just click and drag the image over ? |
KKB,
as far as I know, you have to either save the pic to your own online photo storage site (free at places like photobucket or imagestation) and then you can include it in a post, or if the pic is already somplace online, you can just imbed the link to the pic in your post to show the pic, using that little square icon in the "quick reply" window below; if you run your cursor over that icon, it should show "insert image", so if you click it, a window will open where you can insert the link to the pic. |
sounds a bit complex

I haven't gotten the pics off my boy's cell phone camera yet, but we were on vacation in Ocean City MD last week and in addition to all the normal pesky gulls we saw, we also saw other gulls, like a Lambo Countach that was pretty much just like this one:
http://www.seriouswheels.com/pics-19...n-Doors-st.jpg Then a few yards away outside a little "car museum" on Rt. 50 we saw a DeLorean DMC-12 just like this one: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...3/IMG_9979.jpg http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...3/IMG_9992.jpg Also parked outside the little museum was an early '60's Corvair like this one: http://www.corvair.org/images/60sedan.gif and we also saw a real cool antique fire truck and a great looking old passenger bus that looked something like one of those old Airstream trailers, but I can't remember the name on front of the bus. |

The car itself is rare, plus I guess if I only see the one around here once every two years, it's still rare to me. So this past weekend I saw what must be the same Auburn Supercharged Roadster that I saw on Sept. 1, 2005 and posted in post #268, but this time it was driving downtown Phila heading west on Walnut St. I didn't have my camera with me this time, so here it was in Ardmore in 2005:

wow interesting bunch of cars...my town is all povey for class.

Rather than starting a new thread I'll add to this one and maybe somebody else will remember something rare they saw recently.
I don't know if you consider this "cheating" since it was at a little local car show held in the parking lot of a synagogue a couple blocks from my house. Anyway, today I saw this 1957 Dual-Ghia D-500 Convertible. Only about 117 of these were ever built. I'm copying a little history I found about it online: ************************************************* During the post-war revival, Virgil Exner at Chrysler hired Turin-based Ghia to build a number of special concepts on Dodge chassis. Among these were four Dodge Fire Arrows show cars that were designed and engineered as a feasible road-going model. They were extensively exhibited across America but were never put in production. This motivated Eugene Casaroll to buy the design and build the car himself. Having started one of the first automobile shipping companies in America, Casaroll was a big player in the industry. He had seen the Firearrrow concept cars and wanted to continue the sensation they caused at the motor shows. The first step was to start Dual Motors in Michigan which was the launching point for the Dual-Ghias. Dual Motors bought bare chassis straight from Dodge then shipped them to the doors of Carrozzeria Ghia in Italy. One of Casaroll's partners, Paul Farago enlarged the overall design of the show cars to better accommodate passengers and luggage. Ghia applied finishing touches such as signature tail fins and an updated interior and many luxurious appointments. The partnership was mutually beneficial and Casaroll agreed to call their new project the Dual-Ghia. For a limited production Italo-Anglo hybrid, the Dual-Ghia was quite a success. Casaroll targeted his marketing towards the rich and famous who would could afford the car's expensive craftsmanship. At $7,600 USD, the Dual-Ghia cost even more than a top of the line Cadillac. However, this didn't stop customers like Frank Sinatra, Peter Lawford, Eddie Fisher, Glenn Ford and Desi Arnaz from cashing in. They were most likely drawn to the car's Italian style and finish with the V8's American power. Built in both coupes and convertibles around 117 Dual-Ghias were made from 1957 onwards. This was far below Casaroll's initial estimate of 150 cars per year, but still a great number for a specially-built car. The Dual-Ghia was followed up in 1961 with the L6.4. With newer styling and a larger engine, this was Casaroll's comeback attempt. Only 26 cars of these were completed before high-overhead costs and poor sales ended Dual Motors. Story by Supercars.net ************************************************ http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...ingMeet011.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...ingMeet012.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...ingMeet013.jpg And for your continued entertainment, though these are not quite as rare, some of the other cars: http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...ingMeet009.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...ingMeet004.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...ingMeet008.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...ingMeet005.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...ingMeet006.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...ingMeet010.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...ingMeet003.jpg A couple of my buddies, the guy on the right owns the highly moded M3 Bimmer and organized the show: http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...ingMeet001.jpg last and almost least, my own "black magic woman" http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...ingMeet002.jpg |
Saw both a Murcielago and an R8 Saturday morning. I live right near Automotive Restorations, a very high end restoration/customs shop, so its pretty common to see this kind of stuff, along with the mega-high-buck classics.

just saw a Astin Martin DB9

There are more now. A company in (i think) Arizona is taking all the factory spare parts and building "new" ones out of them. I understand they're also modernizing the engines while they're at it. $40,000. |
I saw a red Cayenne GTS. There was a really hot MILF driving it...

Living in London you see really rare cars from time to time, the notable ones for me have been the Bugatti Veyron, McLaren F1, McLaren SLR and Porsche Carrera GT.

All jokes aside, I used to live in miami, and you'll see a buttload of expensive/rare cars there, especially in the downtown area. many porsches/ferraris. Also one of my neighbours here has a nice classic old prosche, i'll see if I can take a picture. And this car I saw in NYC. i have no idea what kind/brand/year it is: |
biznatch,
It's hard to make a definitive conclusion from that pic, but that's probably one of the several kit type cars patterned after a late '30's Lincoln Zephyr. Here's a couple pics of what made me think that: http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...rs/zephyr1.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...hyr-791831.jpg |

a diehard motorhead has a brain filled with typically useless facts just waiting for an opportunity to use one ;) ....though my wife would dispute the "brain" part.
biznatch, I'd love to see your neighbor's classic Porsche, many of those are very nice and could be rare. Maybe a 356 Speedster? |
:) I was just driving home from Port Washington, Long Island and I got to drive alongside an Audi R8.
It was beautiful..... |
From comments I see on various car forums, it seems that the external design of the R8 is controversial, but I like it a lot. But I wish it was more powerful/faster. I know that's only one criteria but IMO it's quite weak in that area.
One of my favorite Porsches is the GT3...other than the Carrera GT which is virtually unobtainable. And you...at least I don't... see many around. Today I saw about a dozen, probably more, at New Jersey Motorsports Park. I went to check out the track and found a Porsche club running there today...cool watching them blast around...very fast. With high gas prices I'm getting improved milage from these pics since I also posted them in the longest thread. http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...ug32008001.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...ug32008002.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...ug32008003.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...ug32008006.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...ug32008007.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...ug32008008.jpg |
nice! I can barely bring myself to autoshows let alone club runs because it make me want to spend money on a new car.
|
I went back to that track I mentioned above, this time to drive my car...
..but the rare car sighting I'm reporting was my favorite car at the track this day. Being an old motorhead who loves roadracing, I have a soft spot for American muscle cars. So in spite of all sorts of high end exotic Ferrari's and Porsches and many other nice cars, my fav was this 1964 Pontiac GTO...which would be rare enough even if it was stock, but this one has its own notoriety and is a "one off" handmade special. It was featured as a cover story in Hot Rod magazine a while back, as well as other automotive publications and websites. The young guy who owns and drives it bought it when he was 14 y.o. as a partly stripped out, beater; he fixed it up and drag raced it a while; then got into roadracing but crashed it real bad after a total brake failure...then decided to rebuild the whole car himself into his dream road warrior. This thing was probably the fastest, or at least one of the fastest, cars there this day. Awesome car, I love this thing: http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...P8-5-08008.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...P8-5-08007.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...P8-5-08003.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...P8-5-08010.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...P8-5-08009.jpg ...and a gratuitous closing pic of my car..the black one..next to a real nice small block ERA Cobra, destroked 302 c.i. motor with four two-barrel Webers on it. http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...P8-5-08005.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...P8-5-08027.jpg |
yesterday on the drive to farms in NJ, I saw a yellow with black top Porsche 968
|
I forgot if we have "rules" about where these are to be seen...though we know we don't need no stinkin rules...but if car shows are not intended, let me know and I won't do it again. This was the CF Benefit Car Show at Lahaska PA...about the 7th year for this show for a good cause; I showed my car just for support though it's not really a show car. But here's a couple nice rare'ish cars I saw among many other nice cars:
I'm most interested to learn more about this one so if somebody can steer me to a resource I'd appreciate it. It's a ...I think... 1962 Daimler Griffith, their own design 2.5 liter hemi V8, cool rare car: http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...202008/017.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...202008/016.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...202008/008.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...202008/010.jpg Immaculate old Caddy: http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...202008/012.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...202008/018.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...202008/019.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...202008/020.jpg mine :) http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...202008/025.jpg |

Less than 130 of these ever existed and there are very few of those originals left, so this is definitely RARE!!!
I went paintballing with my two boys and three of their buddies today and on the way home we wanted to find a recently opened Sonic...couldn't find it so as we were driving through this converted industrial park which is now a mall, I tell the boys I'll ask the next place we see if they can give us directions...so I then see this interesting looking red car sitting outside one of the buildings so I pull over and take a couple pics of it, and then go inside the open garage to see if I can ask for directions...well two older guys like my age are working on this car up on a lift...the car outside was a lightweight 427 Ford Galaxie; the car up on the lift was a Ford Thunderbolt Fairlane clone...so I said to the guys how cool the cars are and they say "a real one is right there in the corner" so I look over and see a covered car and I say something like "...Wow, they are so rare I can't believe there is one here!" so they say go over and uncover it...!!! So here it is. Very rare and this Norristown Ford Thunderbolt has an extraordinary drag racing history...I'm guessing if this car came up for sale at Barrett-Jackson, with its history, originality, and provenance, I'd be surprised if it didn't sell for at least $200,000. The first pic is the real Norristown Ford Thunderbolt, followed by the others in my little story: http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...erboltreal.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...rboltreal2.jpg Here's a note about the Thunderbolt Fairlanes: Thunderbolt As the muscle car market took shape, Ford introduced a Fairlane for drag strip racing for 1964, heavily modified to incorporate a 427 CID (7.0 L) V8 with two four-barrel carburetors on a high-riser manifold, ram-air through the openings left by deleting the inboard headlights, equal-length headers, trunk-mounted battery, fiberglass hood, doors, fenders and front bumper, acrylic glass windows, and other lightweight options including deleted rear door window winders, carpeting, radio, sealant, sun visors, armrests, jack, lug wrench, heater, soundproofing, and passenger side windshield wiper. This special model, of which 111 to 127 total were made depending on who you ask, delivered 500 hp (373 kW) at 7,000 rpm and was known as the Thunderbolt. Here is another comment about the possible under-rated power: "...I watched a show the other week, that dynoed all the big blocks from that era. The 426 Hemi, a 427FE, a L88 427, and a Pontiac 421. All were in stock trim as they come from factory. The 427FE ford just like came in the Thunderbolt tested at 650hp and 525ft.lb. torque. That is an amazing engine for 1964 technology. By the way, the 426 did have 820hp factory, the L88 only had 550hp..." http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...lwgalaxie2.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...slwgalaxie.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...rboltclone.jpg |

I saw a rare car today. Only, I don't know what it was! Is there a website somewhere that has a listing of car emblems/brands so I can figure it out?
This one stood out against all of the luxury cars I see on a nearly-daily basis (BMW 7-series, Bentley, Ferrari, Porche, Lotus, etc.) but I just didn't recognize the emblem. ETA: It was a Maserati. Quattroporte. |
this was about a year ago

Anyone who's been in Grand Central station recently, maybe a couple of weeks ago would've noticed the two gorgeous Maseratis standing there, a Quattroporte and this baby right here:

This past Sunday afternoon it was a nice day and I went out for a ride in my car...blasting around the winding roads near home. As I was driving down Morris Road between Bryn Mawr and Gladwyn, a car was going the other way and I almost crashed from the shocking surprise. It was one of my favorite cars of all time, a '66 or '67 Ferrari 275 GTB. Here's a pic of what it looks like, and below that, one of my favorite car videos of all time starring this great and rare car.
