That is really nice...and i don't even like pickup trucks. It's so chic and smooth. A luxury car in disguise!

degrawj 03-07-2005 04:52 PM

well, i don't know how "rare" this car would be considered, but i'd never seen one before (probably because it was brand spankin' new). it was a BMW 640 CI. i didn't even know that BMW had brought back the six series. it looked freakin' AWESOME! like, sick awesome!! i almost want one. but alas, the two door thing.

Wow, is that the same bodykit as the Callaway Sledgehammer?

choskins 03-14-2005 07:48 PM

Yes. It is a Callaway aero body kit on a 1996 Gran Sport. In addition, the LT4 motor is stroked by Callaway. It is a 383 Supernatural.

greeneyes 03-14-2005 08:33 PM

A while back I drove past a VW Phaeton, in the middle of Indiana no less. Maybe not a "cool" car, but still rare nonetheless.

Those are still pretty rare. I didn't even know that the 350 model was done yet.

wrongfullyaccuzd 03-15-2005 11:09 AM

OK so they're not the rarest cars ever, but I was walking by this neighborhood near Embassy Row and I saw a Rolls so I ran over to look at it, and I saw some beauties in the same lot. Obviously these aren't my pictures, my camera was dead! I'm going to go back ASAP though and take my own, and I will repost.

DELETED PICTURES

Like I said I will return with my own pics soon! If I don't get yelled at or arrested :(

See long ass post below for update.

Halx 03-15-2005 11:20 AM

OMG.. YOU BETTER!!

Hehe...

Was walking in the Upper East Side of Manhattan yesterday and I came across a nice Bentley Arnage.

http://www.agga.ru/HomeLife/Auto/Cat...y_arnage_r.JPG

BadNick 03-16-2005 01:53 PM

I'm not sure how rare this Bentley model is, but one of my neighbors has one and I don't recall seeing another one in person; it's a fastback coupe from the mid to late '50's:

http://www.heritageclassics.com/bent...stypefb/01.jpg

BadNick 03-16-2005 01:56 PM

ahhh, sorry for wasting bandwidth

Now that I look at it, that model is nowhere near as nice and proportioned as my neighbor's car. I'll see if I can find a better pic of a Bentley fastback coupe like he has, it's pretty cool looking ...to me

Halx 03-16-2005 02:29 PM

Was on the Upper East Side again today.. this time saw a Maybach 62.

OK so a couple weeks ago I said I have found a neighborhood that had some nice cars in it and I would return to take some of my own pictures. Well, today I did. And then...I saw something else in front of a hotel. These are just some of the pictures, to see the rest, go here.

Today I was going down the road and a Ferrari 512 passed me. They're not that rare, but in this hick farming community that I'm in, you hardly ever see anything like that.

Cynthetiq 04-12-2005 01:02 PM

yesterday on the drive from the Holland Tunnel to Canal Street, I saw, a bentley coupe, a lambo gallardo, and a ferrari testarossa cabriolet, all within blocks of each other.

ok, i need to take a pic of this bentley dealership down the road from me, it has every high-priced, high-performance, high-luxury car on the market minus 2, the Enzo and the Merc SLR. They got the Continental GT, Austin Martin's, Phantom, Ferrari, and Lotus. Just sitting out front for everyone to see, and drool over.

Martian 04-29-2005 11:07 PM

And here we have the story of the best day of my life.

I was visiting my girl down in Detroit and she took me to her favourite mall. It's in a part of the city she informed me is populated by 'noveau riche', which is apparently the french term for people who spend more money than I've made in my life up to this point on their cars. In one day, I saw a Bentley Arnage, a Maserati coupe (!), a Maybach, two Lamborghinis (one Gallardo, one Diablo), a BMW Z8, a Z3 and probably two or three dozen less rare cars (Mustang GT's and the like). The Maserati was the best; the look on the valet's face as he was getting into it was priceless. I turned to her on the spot and said 'I'm moving down here. I want to valet at this mall.'

I want to find an International CXT. I'd never drive one, I just want to see it, because I think that's the sort of truck you have to see to believe.

itch vaccine 04-30-2005 06:40 AM

Saw a Lamborghini Murcielago and a Ferrari 360 Modena driving together on a busy street in Kuala Lumpur near Shangri-La

One was yellow (the lambo of course), and the other was red. :)

brandon11983 05-01-2005 05:20 PM

I saw a Mercedes Benz SLR McLaren earlier today. It was the first one I ever saw on the street.

IanSturgill 05-03-2005 06:36 AM

Me and Tspikes51 saw a vintage delorean in a lot on campus yesterday, we didn't have a camera so no pics, that thing was sweet.

Cumbaby 05-05-2005 02:51 PM

I saw a Nash Metropolitain, does that count?

Cynthetiq 06-10-2005 06:34 AM

yesterday I saw a Bentley Coupe in metallic blue, and also a yellow Lambo Gallardo.

I also forgot last month on 42nd Street I saw an old 60something Shelby Mustang.

Seen the new Bentley coupe, a couple of full sized Bentleys, Maybach (the 60-something) model, couple of Maserati coupes, three Modenas, one Diablo, two Vipers, and a Gallardo. All in the last two months.

zizdog69 06-22-2005 01:21 PM

Just recently saw a BMW Alpina V8 Roadster and a few months ago, a Bentley Continental GT. What’s really weird about these sightings is that they are in a shitty part of town. There is no reason these $100,000+ cars should be in this area!

theguyondacouch 07-05-2005 03:22 PM

At the local car show, I saw a 2003-1953 corvette. Now, I may be incorrect, but I believe it is a 2004 vette chassis with a fiberglass 1953 style body on it. According to the guy, so far only 40 or so have been built. His was black with red interior. Not quite my style, but it sure was rare.here's some more info i found

rarest I have seen are a Ferrari F40 at a club day at Road Atlanta and a bunch of other old Ferraris 250gt, 400i and 308's

I did see a BMW M1 and a real 1960's GT-40 at Road Atlanta one time back on the early 90's

muckluck 07-08-2005 02:55 PM

I saw and sat in a Lotus Super 7. I don't know how rare they are but I don't see them too often. Also saw some Lotus Elise's some old Daihmler's, MG's, and some Rolls Royce's. Also some Ferraries and Lambos but those get kinda old fast.

DEI37 07-08-2005 05:36 PM

Not that the first two of these cars are anything particularly special, but they are uncommon. About a week ago, I saw one of those Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais W41's, with the ultra hi-po Quad 4. Nice car. Yesterday, I saw a Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme with the Quad 4 and a manual trans. Not many of those running around any more.

Today's viewing was special. Running up the highway, got passed by a Corvette ZR-1. Not sure what year, but it was cool to see. Not many of them made, so it was a treat to see a real one.

Cicero 07-09-2005 06:36 AM

Ford GT

Among a sea of Corvettes I found her last night. Same base color but the racing stripes were darker than the body color, black maybe?

http://www.seriouswheels.com/pics-20...-1600x1200.jpg

Better yet, I found out I get to drive a Mustang GT convertible in a parade with a beauty pageant winner sitting in back tomorrow. I need to go buy some lottery tickets before this lucky streak ends.

Lockjaw 08-06-2005 08:29 AM

Driving down Forrest lane in Dallas Thursday morning had a Ford GT passed me going the other way. Nearly swerved off the road out of shock. Had I not been going to work I would have spun a u-turn and chased it.

dpezzo 08-06-2005 10:54 PM

Saw my first Bentley a few weeks ago, which is awesome living in Ohio... Occasional Ferrari's (very nice new model, I am not sure what it is) in town lately. Once I saw a Countach and a Diablo. Would kill to see the Maybach. I need a car that have a lazy-boy for a backseat...

Cicero 08-07-2005 05:48 PM

Since I don't live on either the west or east coast, nor do I live or frequent some of the upper class neighborhoods, when I do see an exotic car, it is a big deal. Today I saw a red F-355 Spider. I was walking along side Lake road in Bay Village, Ohio (an upper class neighborhood west of Cleveland) and there she was driving past. As the car went by I blurted out, "OH SH*T!" The car then makes a right at the light ahead and I duck into the parking lot to get a closer look. For a 10 year old Ferrari, that car still looks sharp. IMO I think the quality and style is an exponentially better than the Testarossa it replaced.

Me and Tspikes51 saw a sweetass Silver NSX a couple days ago, Driving really slow though. Saw another NSX and an SRT-10 Viper on the interstate in NC.

vautrain 08-25-2005 12:25 PM

About a year ago, I was passed on the interstate by what I believe was an original Ford GT40. Not a recent Ford GT. It might have been a very good replica, but I had the distinct impression it was real.

bookerV 08-26-2005 05:39 AM

So far this summer I have seen 2 NSX's (One silver, one red), a Lambo Gallardo, a Lambo Murciellago, 2 Ferrari 355's, and 4 vipers. Been a good year for cool cars so far.

Totally agree. I saw one driving around town (Calgary Alberta) the other day, and it was in perfect condition, and I just had to give the guy a thumbs up.

There's a testament to bad planning though. Not the cars - they're great, but the comapnay. Chalk one up for cocaine abuse!

bodypainter 08-27-2005 03:40 PM

So far I have only seen one other NSX just driving around since I got mine. I've seen several at pre-arranged meets, but just that single yellow one heading east on Bee Ridge road in Sarasota a couple weeks ago.

My wife and I are fucking funny thought when we're out driving. We'll see a car on the other side of the interstate, our heads will swivel in unison to check it out, and with one disappointed voice say 'Corvette'. We're always hoping, looking for others.

I know the NSX isn't the rarest of the rare - almost 9,000 were imported, but damn I almost never saw them before and now I never see them at all.

BadNick 08-29-2005 07:34 AM

My family just got back from a vacation and on the last leg we were in Toronto. On the second day, this past Thursday, I walked out of the Harbour Castle Hotel and see parked right in one of the entrance way spots was what looked like a real, original '66 Mustang GT 350R. When I got home I searched around a little online and found that only 3 were made. Now that is pretty damn rare. I have a few pictures of it, but at 7.1 megapixel they're too large to post and I haven't edited them down yet. I asked a couple of the door men about it and they said it was real and owned by a "celebrity" but they didn't want to say who. It was parked right next to a new, silver Porsche Turbo but who cares about that common P.O.S. ;)

Kinda funny, later in the day I came out to get our car and hand my parking ticket to the door guy and I say "it's the Mustang over there" and he starts to walk over to it as if he was going to get it for me!!! I spilled the beans and told him I was joking so I don't know if I could have driven it or not.

BadNick 08-30-2005 07:20 AM

I don't know where I got the idea it was a GT 350R, maybe wishful thinking; after looking at my pics last night it's a GT 350H. Very nice but not quite as rare.

Yeah, I had my doubts about it being an original R model. The H models were built for Hertz, I'm sure you're familiar with the story. Pretty neat. Big difference in terms of interior creature comforts between the R and the H. The R is recognizable on the exterior mainly by its scooped out front valance, below where the bumper would be. A lot of basic Mustangs have been converted to "R" look and/or specs, real R models are less common than genuine Shelby Cobras.

BadNick 09-01-2005 06:00 PM

...not to beat a dead pony, but it did sort of have a scooped out front valance even though it is an H not an R

Dear Mr. Rare Rippley ;)

In that case I should list my own stuff in this rarity list. I see several M6's every day, some convertibles. One of my daily drivers is more rare than most M6's will ever be ...my good old "MkIV" 1995 Supra Turbo w/6speed trans and targa sport roof, less than 3750 imported into the U.S. from 1993 to the last ones imported in 1998; total of all types of turbo Supras from 1993 to 1998 was under 7000. Now that's rare ;)

I am officially un-dissed. Also, I'm a little bit in shock still, from driving it, so disses just ricochet right off me :D - oh, and the ones rolling arounf your 'hood are 630's, 630 Ci's and 645's, I would guess...

Oh, and after driving the M all day, I got to drive a late 60'd mustang with a 351 engine in it. NO idea what model, so feel free to help me out on that one. It's a coupé, with a 351 engine, and it has a hoodscoop.

Yeah, I guess what I meant to say is, the bumper wouldn't even be there on an R model. Also, I think that paint job (color scheme) is unique to the H model. The H is certainly *not* a common car by any stretch of the imagination though, but I wouldn't at all be surprised if that one is indeed original. It's beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

That paint job was a speical for Hurtz car rental back in the 60's... I have been told, so please till if my story is wrong...but I have also read that some place I will see if I can find it on the net some place.

Man, that yellow Chrysler is a land yacht. Cool car.
Also like the silver Benz below it.

I'm pretty sure the Hertz Shelby Mustangs were all black and gold and all but a very very few were automatic transmission cars. They were called the GT350H.

LoganSnake 09-23-2005 07:49 PM

Saw Ford GT today. The car looks pretty sweet in person. Also saw, and could hardly believe it, a Porsche Carrera GT driving past me. Pretty spiffy car to see in the suburbs.

OMG they sold them..I though it was just a concept:eek:

Halx 10-06-2005 12:11 AM

My mom's cousin has one of them. Shelby Series 1. Loud fuckin' things. He's a lawyer.

LoganSnake 10-06-2005 12:07 PM

Are they expensive?

BadNick 10-06-2005 12:15 PM

I think they were priced around $175,000 but that doesn't include any dealer incentive discounts ;)

I saw one drive by our local playground this past summer, the loudness (as in good sounds, not noise ;) )caught my attention and then I couldn't believe I was looking at one! But I've heard some negative vibes about them ...not sure on the details though. Anybody know anything more ...good or bad?

THGL 10-06-2005 12:50 PM

Looks too much like a Vette body kit. I was totally unimpressed when I first saw them.

Beautiful car, driven by the CEO of the company I work for. I think he should sell it and give us all raises.

castex 10-16-2005 12:04 PM

Even around here, an hour from their birthplace, these Alpine Renault a310's are rare as hens' teeth! I saw one last week, parked, pristine.

Want one!

Damn saw one of these in white today, looked like a soroity girl driving it in the middle of Oklahoma. It looked awsome!

rideough 10-24-2005 06:26 PM

I've seen almost all of the cars mentioned including about 40 Deloreans in one parking lot...DMC convention at the hotel I was staying at.

But the rarest are these 2

1964 Ferrari GTO- 36 made and worth in the 10 digit range. I parked beside it in my buddies P.O.S. Mustang at the 97 Montreal Grand Prix

1967 Shelby Cobra 427 S/C- 31 were made and it was selling for 4 MILLION Cdn! when I sat in it when I was 17. I dunno how much that is now but 13 years ago I was impressed.

So can anyone beat that? I don't think so.

castex 10-25-2005 10:19 AM

:hmm:
A GTO in the ten digit range? Blimey!
Let's see; $10,000,000 - ten million dollars. Eight digits, and not far off the world record GTO price. Ten digits makes for a car worth well over one billion dollars.
In addition to which, the fact that you were able to pull up next to one means it was almost certainly a fake - re-bodied 250 GTE or glassfibre datsun-based lash-up, it matters not a jot.
Can anyone beat that? Almost certainly.

However, if you really saw a real GTO, and a real Shelby - so many replicas - then you win the thread. Bravo!

rideough 10-25-2005 12:05 PM

I have no clue as to the authenticity of the GTO but the company it kept in the parking lot said much about its heritage...numerous Ferrari's, a Miura and a XJ220 were all present.
I am certain the Cobra was real as it was at a reputable exotic dealer.

castex 10-26-2005 01:55 AM

Right you are then!
