Good Tasting Protein Powder

Can anyone reccomend me a good tasting protein powder to buy? Last time i bought "Mega Whey" Vanilla flavor and it tasted so bad i could hardly drink it without gagging after every swallow!

Just need something that can mix well with milk or water or whatever...thanks a lot

Optimium Nutrition 100% Whey. have been drinkin this for nearly 6 months now. Beats the heck outta nitro tech for taste, and they have quite an assortment of flavors that are good in both water and skim milk.

Nitrotech.... yes yes i know this is on the border of being a protien powder but it is really just protien. It is fantastic, tastes great, and i really think i didnt help me drop serrious pounds, and help me build some good mass. Read the back all thier studies are done by xavier, which is a decent school.

i like eas advantedge high performance whey protein (yes, advantage is spelled advantedge on the bottle).

other tips to making protein shakes taste better:
1. use a blender so it mixes more uniformly (instead of the clumps you can get doing it in a bottle)
2. add yogurt- vanilla, strawberry, etc.
3. add fruit

now that i do the above three, i'll never go back to mixing it in a bottle on the go!

I use Prostar Whey - vanilla or chocolate. It tastes great and is almost a little "treat" when you are cutting out sweets.

ON (optimum nutrition for the uninitiated) 100% whey, THE tastiest protein powder out there. Not half bad quality either.

A hand blender is also your best friend when it comes to making your shakes taste better.

+1 for ON. So far I've tried their chocolate, chocolate mint, cookies and cream, and strawberry shake stuff, and I would recommend it all. Never liked vanilla whey. Eech.

Is all this protein necesarry? I do work out 3 times a week, but am not going for a big bulky look; just slim and tone. I have a pretty good diet, but one thing I never really took too seriously was protein supplements (I'm a meat eater, but not as much as most-I'll have 2 or three days a week where I won't eat any meat). Perhaps I should re-think adding some extra protien into my diet.

If you're getting enough protein already, then no, it's not really *neccesary*. However, the advantage of whey is that its very fast digesting, so it's good for taking right after a workout because thats the time when your muscles are most craving protein.

I am on the Mammoth 2500 , vanilla, from interactive nutrution. It has won an Alive award of excellence (I have no idea what that is, but it sounds good). I drink it with juice , or water ,and sometimes I throw a banna in there. Anyway I take it, it tastes great. My friend has been useing it for years, and loves it.

ON (Optimum Nutrotion) through www.musclesurf.com. About $34 with shipping for 80 20+ gram servings. Very tasty.

Post workout I drink a serving with water (for quick absorption) and perhaps some malt powder. Before or at other times I might mix something like this in a blender:

ice
skim milk
malt powder
flax meal (for fiber and Omega-3s)
banana (or I keep frozen strawberries, etc)
ON
possibly some honey if I plan on a really hard workout

-1 for Nitrotech. I tried it a year ago and I couldn't even get it down my throat. Muscle Milk tastes the best, I've found. I might try the ON. I've been seeing a lot of people recommend it, and it's cheaper.

GNC chocolate whey protien is pretty good stuff, I've known people to drink it just because they liked the way it tasted. But I'll also say that those people were pretty strange.

Actually immediately following a workout your body is looking to replace glycogen stores spent during (presumably) instense exercise. Not that protien absorption isn't enhanced but the repair of fast twist muscle fibre and it's associated metabolic chemistry takes place primarily at rest.

Back to the original question...

Try a package of the Myoplex Deluxe chocolate. If your diet can take the calories mix it with skim milk. It's VERY good although the newer formula is a bit more fibrous than previous versions.

Best tasting protein I've ever had.

Though I currently use ON, and have for years, as it's much cheaper and tatses pretty darn good when mixed with milk

Here's another vote for Spiru-tein. Good stuff, and the most well-rounded diet supplement I could find. It's about $23 discounted for a 2.3lb tub. (~25-30 drinks) My ex doesn't like the strawberry but I like them all. Much better than old chalk drinks or sweetened nightmares.

i use GNC brand Whey. Strawberry flavor, mix with milk and let it sit in my fridge over night... it dissolves nice and uniform. and it tastes pretty good. I made the mistake of starting out with Vanilla too.... yuck, never again.
