Pot Belly ideas
I need some ideas.. I drink diet drinks, but eat fatty foods.. The only body fat I have is in my stomach... Some people distribute there fat throughout there whole body but Me.. It all goes just to my stomach , nowhere else..
How do I cut that fat off my stomach the quickest way... I know crunches help build muscle but I dont know if they reduce fat at the same time? |

Unfortunately you can't spot reduce. Crunches will build your abdominal muscles but it won't specifically reduce your belly. Any exercise will however effect your overall body fat and the more exercise you get the more fat you will burn. The only real answer is watch your calories and work-out. Instead of three large meals, try having five or six small meals through-out the day. This will keep your metablism active digesting the food and you won't overwhelm your body with a large meal, causing it to store excess as fat.

Stop drinking diet drinks. They're not that much healthier for you than normal soda. Sure, they take out the sugar but the stuff they replace it with (sorbitol and other sugar replacements) is horrible for your body. It kills brain cells and causes stomach problems, since your body has trouble breaking them down.
Try to get used to drinking water or seltzer - no calories. ANd stop with the fatty foods! There are plenty of good foods out there that don't need to be fried. A good thing to remember is that if you don't buy it you won't eat it. When you go to the supermarket, try to avoid the candy isles. If you don't buy it at the store, when you're at home you'll have no candy to munch on. Go for the carrots or much on ice or gum intead. It's good to designate one or two days of the week where you can treat yourself. But don't go overboard. Excersize helps too. Last edited by Trisk; 07-09-2004 at 02:57 PM.. |

A good idea if you buy a lot of snacks and soda is to not carry ANY cash at all. I did this and I also started carrying a bottle of water with me most places, and if I get hungry instead of snacking I would drink water (I read that if you are hungry all the time it is usually an indication of thirst. Drinking water has seemed to help). Cut out the garbage and find something at least semi-healty you can eat, and eat smaller portions. Hell you could probably eat the same stuff you do now if you eat less of it and do cardio for 45 minutes at least 3 times a week.
In any case, burning more calories than you take in is the key to killing off excess weight, so if you take in less calories and work more off, you will lose weight! (As previously mentioned, if you build your ab muscles with crunches but don't have the diet to kill the fat you will have strong muscles, but you won't be able to see them)
