A good idea if you buy a lot of snacks and soda is to not carry ANY cash at all. I did this and I also started carrying a bottle of water with me most places, and if I get hungry instead of snacking I would drink water (I read that if you are hungry all the time it is usually an indication of thirst. Drinking water has seemed to help). Cut out the garbage and find something at least semi-healty you can eat, and eat smaller portions. Hell you could probably eat the same stuff you do now if you eat less of it and do cardio for 45 minutes at least 3 times a week.
In any case, burning more calories than you take in is the key to killing off excess weight, so if you take in less calories and work more off, you will lose weight!
(As previously mentioned, if you build your ab muscles with crunches but don't have the diet to kill the fat you will have strong muscles, but you won't be able to see them)
