Sprint Training

The dude who just won the 100m world championship said he is the most natural sprinter in the world. Apparently he has never done weights or taken vitamin supplements, and his size does reflect this. Pretty amazing if you ask me.
I guess this shows that conventional training techniques arnt always the most appropriate for every individual. What does everyone think about this?

I am sure if asked, most professional athletes wouldn't tell you the truth about their supplement/chemical intake. As far as him not weight training? Well that is believable since he most likely doesnt want to hurt a muscle or impair flexability. Got a link to see what this guy looks like?

He is pretty wirey compared to those big boy sprinters. He looks more like a 400m runner.

Hershel (sp?) Walker used to be almost the same way ... I remember hearing that he never lifted weights. He would do something like 5,000 push ups every days and 10,000 sit ups. Then he'd run miles and miles up hill. Seemed like a cool, if arduous, way to train yourself....

You simply cannot get big using only your own body weight to gain mass, so basically he is full of shit Not only that, but to do 5k situps and 5k pushups a day would totally overtrain you and your muscles would never get a chance to grow and repair.

i've heard of martial arts masters doing lots of pushups and situps and it seemed to work for them. For sprinting it probably is possible cause you arent trying to constatly train your muscles to grow. If you are doing that many pushups and situps it must also be a great cardiovascular workout. For sprinters in the olden days i can see how this could be true. Just like in boxing boxers where told for the longest time that to work out would slow them down and make them less effective.
