Playstation 2 Repair Job Question

My PS2 had been unplugged recently (was rearranging my room and moved a power strip and didn't plug it back in), and had been that way for about two or three weeks. I plugged it in last Thursday and went to play a game, flipped the power switch on the back, and nothing happened. No red light on the front, no noise from the fans, nothing. So my obvious thought is that some cable must have gotten loose inside and I need to take it apart and hook it back up.

Warranty is not an option, as I bought it off ebay two years ago - and the VOID sticker was missing when I got it - and it's worked great the whole time despite that. I looked online for a variety of search strings including "Playstation 2 Disassembly", etc. - and it seems like all of the PS2 models that are being disassembled aren't as "advanced" as mine.

I don't have the slim PSTwo, but I seem to have a strange model (maybe really old?). As a result, the documention I've found (free) online consists of "take off the 8 screws underneath the foot pads, then lift off the case top, then you're done. Or a few of them might say things like "remove the 4 screws" without any picture evidence.

My PS2 had six screws underneath the casing on the PCB board, as shown in the first picture. I managed to remove them all without any problems and disconnect the cables on the board.

However, there's still one screw that I can't really get to that seems to be holding the board from being lifted out. I haven't seen any mention of it (or how to get to it, or if that's what is holding the board in place) online.

Has anyone got any experience repairing PS2s and know what could be wrong with the Playstation, or how to remove the board?

Thanks

Well just finished talking to a friend that used to repair PS2's and showed him the pics, Said everything in the pics look fine. From reading how the problem started he was asking the basic type issues, Did you double check that the back power switch was on, check the outlet you plugged it into, and even if the power strip you mentioned was on. Besides getting his hands on it and the previous things he mentioned, only other thing he could think of is something going screwey with the power cord itself.

Oy. Glad to say I never had to take apart my ancient ebay special before giving it to a nephew.

If I had to say, and I guess I'm supposed to, I'll mention the power supply board is fused.

That top board must come off. Aren't there 4 more screws in the pic? Fairly pointless trying to help remotely since I never had one apart. Look at it slowly, through a beer. There's always something hidden.

Of course, if it turns out to be a switched wall outlet issue you're in serious trouble.

If nothing seems to work, personal development is a good way to reset a tired thought process. In this case, size development. Grab that bag of ruffles I see on the floor and make haste.

I've tried a variety of power outlets around my apartment and none of them work - it was the first thing I tried. And yea, what clued me to the problem was when I flip the back power switch to on, nothing happens. I don't think it's the power cord - but I don't have another cord to test. My guess was something in the actual PS2's power supply came loose, or who the hell knows - hence why I was disassembling.

I did manage to pull everything apart (turns out I just had to tug really hard to lift the top board off the bottom one). I convinced myself that since it was already broken, if I broke it, it couldn't get any worse

And yea, cyrnel, this is an ebay special I got it two years ago for 120$ - it's served me well, but I can't afford a replacement, so I'm just working with what I've got. Here's a few more photos of what I've done since last night. And yea, I'm breaking into the Ruffles & St. Pauli Girl to help me with today's work

Underside of the PS2 with all of the boards ripped out.

Aforementioned boards, now decorating my bed.

Topside of PS2, that's the power supply unit on the left, and the disc drive in my hand - with a game still inside (couldn't get power to open it up -- and I don't have a tiny phillips head screwdriver to unscrew it).
