Anybody else having more fun with the Photo Mode than the actual racing itself? I seem to just burn hours just taking pictures of my car. Too bad I only have a used MR2 to take pictures of, not a bad car itself, but it's just not pretty.

The photo mode looks alright though, I messed around alittle bit with it..Some good options for filters n such. Although i would have liked them to put the effort they did in the photo options into the AI.

oh no. oh god no. Please make it not be true.
I had almost 3 million credits. Every car I wanted. 30% completion. Every license. When I tried to load it up just now I get the worst message I have ever seen "Save file is corrupted. Do you wish to retry?" I retry I retry Over and over again. But nothing works. Last time I shut off my PS2, it was not saving the game. I didn't remove the memory card while it was saving. I didn't do anything wrong. And I lost everything. I know its just a videogame, but I've spent so much time in the past two weeks earning everything that I had, only to lose it all. I guess it'll be a while before I post here again. I don't think I have the energy to do all that over for a while.

Ouch! That's bad Elwood!
I had that same error show up on me in GT3, I had played to about 68 or more %, and put the game down for 6 months, when I went back to load it up I had the same exact error. I tried playing from scratch again, but being so used to the Indy cars I quickly just gave up on it again. I feel for you, if I find anyway to recover that I'll let you know. |

Its the Logitech Driving Force Pro worth it? I'm thinking about getting the wheel and the game. Pcnation is selling the wheel for about $110 which is the cheapest price I can find, with the game is going to be $160 together.
Anyone got the driving force pro here? would you recommend it?

still running and loving this game.
What is everyone's fastest max speed contest speed? I hit 288.xx in a completely modded '96 Ruf CTT2 with Nitrous. Hit 250something in a modded '05 Ford GT with Nitrous as well. I got that LM Camaro or whatever it is called (I am pretty sure it was a prize car for one of the USA races), modded it up to 912 hp but cannot hit anything higher than 224.xx without Nitrous in max speed test. Any modders out there care to share gear ratios or settings to get top speeds?

Love the intro to the game, I almost pissed myself when i seen it. Quote:
Final Drive ratio is gonna give you more top end, But slow your acceleration..So adjust your individual ratios accordingly, Or just experiment with the auto adjuster. I'm sure you could get it going alot faster than what you have it going, Maybe even quicker than the Ruf..Maybe Actually, Lower your final drive ratio..Like pretty low..Not all the way though. Then make 6th gear (Or whatever the top gear is) Longer..Not too long though because thier will be lag when it hits sixth if it's to far apart from 5th gear. I gave ya an idea of what to do..So just try it out and experiment. My RSX Type S has about 350HP and i can get it to do almost 200mph without nitrous. It might not be possible with the camaro, I haven't really tried tuning the ratios in the camaro so i don't know. But theoretically (sp?) 900HP car should reach 300mph if the gears are tweaked right..Maybe even more, But i doubt it.

since I know nothing about gears, cars, or the proper ratios I usually just set the auto setting all the way out to 25 and let 'er rip from there. I have a couple friends who say they knew how to do it, but we sat there for hours the other night with that Camaro and could not pull anything faster than 224ish with it. At one point we were looking good in 5th gear then it redlines kicks over to 6th and starts slowing down WTF.
Nothing we tried would get that car faster than 224ish without the juice.

The auto setting is the way to go, but you may want to set top gear a little wider if you are redlining it in top gear.
At least this was the case in all the other GT games, 5 more days to go

My local games store has a store copy of GT4 and I played it for a good half hour today. Fuck me the Nurburgring is narrow, and has all these little bumps in it that throw my car off course... maybe it's just the car without the mods I only played arcade mode. Also it's sad to see my beloved Seattle City track edited so you can't cut through the chicane off pit road.
Oh and the AI kicked my ass. 4 more days!

*in the FF race in beginner and the Civic Race in the Honda Menu i easily beat the races Pretaining to the picture quality, The backgrounds in the game ARE real pictures. And if you are dissapointed with the picture quality of the game i recomend getting component cables. I plan on getting them soon but i've seen GT4 w/ component cables and its pretty clear IMO. |

I am on Spring Break right now (yeah, I know, it is a bit early), and I am not looking forward to school starting back up and keeping me away from all the racing. It's amazing the level of depth a racing game can have. I have always thought of the Gran Turismo series as an RPG on wheels.

FYI -- during days 694-701 you can buy the sweetest cars in the game. they are used le mans cars (mazda 787b, toyota gt-one, nissan r92cp, and another nissan). so they cost about half as much as the new ones cost, but are just as fast... and the best part... they're all jet black! they look SO badass. better save up though... they cost about $8million total.

I've got it.
My car of choice right now is the Holden Monaro @ 675 BHP and NOS. I'm still doing the licences (half way through iB as we speak), but that SLR is looking mighty tempting.

A couple of days in and I must have restarted about five times at least, after becoming unhappy with my choice of motor.
I'm trying a different approach now; seeing how far I can get without buying any cars or modifications. It's going pretty well so far. I've got all the licenses done, completed the driving missions and the beginner races. I don't think I can go much further, though, before I crack and spend all my credits on something beautiful but impractical (again). Last edited by jwoody; 03-11-2005 at 04:15 AM.. |

Although my best car currently I got for winning some races. It's a Nissan with 910 BHP and a power to weight ratio of 1.477.

I think the A spec points are just for bragging rights because if you just use an insanely fast car against not so powerful cars you'll recieve less a spec points. Its just so you can compare with your friends and such. This is what i read on another site at least.
