I've found that each series rewards you with the same car every time you win it. Mainly the point of racing a series again is to win the car again for the money you can resell it for.

Am i the only one who finds this game easy as far as racing goes?
The game is great, But i can't seem to find a difficulty setting anywhere. First car i bought when i started playing was a Civic Type R, I upgraded it to about 300hp then entered the japanese events and murdered NSX's with it..NSX's only have 276hp..but i think they would have much better handling. It's kinda boring racing when i have a 10 second lead. Another thing i have noticed is that the AI is pretty pathetic, No matter what the situation is, The AI cars always try to race the exact same line..For example..Going down a straight away im watchin 2 cars behind me and instead of the car pulling out to pass the other, The car bumps into the back of the other car like two times. Great game as far as graphics go, I wish they would have made the racing more aggressive.

I'm just about to wind up the tests for the super license. So far, pretty cool. I like all the new cars....and I FINALLY get to 'drive' my dream ride, a CLK-GTR!!!
Oh, and whomever thought up the coffee break for the super license should be shot. That was horrible.

It will give you the same car every time. This can be a good thing though. Some of the cars sell for a lot, so you can keep on winning them and selling them for credits.
ah damn, by the time i finished writing this, the question was already answered. Anyways, beat the second series in the special conditions race and sell that car, you'll get ~260,000 credits Last edited by userasdf1234; 02-27-2005 at 12:34 AM.. |

got it on release date, and I must say, I am pretty impressed. BUT, yes there is a but and please hear me out. Does anyone else feel like they are playing GT3 again? Not that I do not like it, but what exactly is so ground breaking about it? The game is awesome but so was GT3, more cars, yes, more tracks, yes all this adds up to such a great game that I think they would almost have to put in over 1,000 cars and TOTALLY make it look exactly like real life to improve the series any. I am plodding along with Hal in the lowbie races still, making meager cash along the way. The one thing I did like was the fact I could bring over my A and B licenses from my GT3 save along with 100k to start out with, that really helped get me going in the slow races with a nice car.

One track... i don't know what it's called, but it's the first track on the Japanese Championship run... has 3 shortcuts that are more than easy to take advantage of... one of them cuts like 5 seconds off your time, while the computer has to slow down and navigate around the track. Makes it easy money because you can compete with a low end car.. lots of points to be gained too.

How much memory does the save use up ?
Also, what's everyone's opinion of the Nurburgring ? Is it so massive that it's unplayable ? The New Zealand release is still about 12 days away, bastards

Well I did that race... sold the car.. I now have a Mercedes SL65 AMG with 800HP. I think I'm gonna do it again and buy a ton of little cars.
Nurburgring is 12 miles long.. if you're ok, each lap will take about 10 minutes.

the nike car and the toyota motor triathlon race car are basically worthless... you can't use them in any races, and even if you could i doubt they'd help you win. also... i'd be cautious about selling any cars. a lot of them you can only win once and can't buy... so if you sell it, you won't be able to get it again. of course, you can do any series over and over and keep winning the car... which is a great way to make some quick cash. if you have a fast enough car, you can enter it into the japanese gt championship, flip on b-spec, and about an hour later, you're 250k richer with an awesome nissan z race car that sells for about 280k. I have sold a few cars i won during the beginner events, But none of the fast cars. So the endurance race on Nurburgring is 24 hours damn, I don't know if i'll like that, That's gotta be some heavy cash you win for that with a sweet car.

when you choose a race, it will take you to the screen where it lists your competition... and on the far left has the icon where you start the race. the icon to the right of that is where you choose b-spec mode. here you can choose the aggressiveness of your driver, whether to try and pass the car ahead, and whether to come in for a pit stop. if you hit R1, you can toggle between the different views... if you switch to the data view, you can push L1+right on the d-pad and increase the rate of the race up to 3x. for most short races you can just walk away at this point because you won't have to do a pit stop, but unfortunately this doesn't hold true for the endurance races. it's still very helpful in races that you don't want to do or are having trouble winning... just make sure you have a really good car because the AI isn't exactly perfect. it sometimes takes a lot longer to pass the competition than it would if you were driving. i still can't figure out the details of the skill rankings (found on the game status screen). i don't know what the maximum values are, how to increase them, or what they effect. i assume that the more you race (and the more you win) the better you get at it and the easier it becomes to win in b-spec mode... but i don't really know. anyway, hope i helped... back to the race for me (over 130 laps so far, still about 7.5 hours left in the race). |

TIP: Note sure if it is already posted...
Win the Stars and Stripes race (3 tracks) - this will bank for 30,000 (10k each) and a new Race Camaro which you can sell for 212K.... This can be done over and over which does not affect your win ratio.....

this means you CAN just let it go on its own for hours... but it won't be going at 3x all the time. after every pit stop you have to reset it to the data view and bump up the race speed, but if you don't mind letting it go in real time, then you can pretty much start the race and come back in a few hours. |

What would you guys give this game on a scale of 1-10? Gameplay i would give it a 7..I can't believe how horrible the AI is in this game Graphics, Car selection, Track Selection, Tuning Options etc, I would give a 9..There was a few cars i was hoping would be in the game but thier not. Mercury Marader (sp?), Dodge Magnum, The new GTO..I think that's not in because they are not in production yet or something. As far as imports go they pretty much got it covered, Except for ferrari's & lamborghini's..oh well. Know the screen when you are previewing an event? How it gives you any restriction on the type of cars that are allowed and so on, I wish they would put a horsepower range for every event. Just givin my opinion on some downsides to the game, I would give up some options to have a more aggressive AI personally, Like the photo option. I haven't looked to far into it but what's the LAN settings for? I know you can't play online, But LAN means local area network..Just kinda of stumped on what this is for

i agree with you about the horrible AI... you practically have to have double the horsepower of your competition to win in b-spec mode, especially in a short race. it takes forever to pass and i can't even count how many times my driver has rear-ended someone instead of swerving around them to pass. i can't believe they spent time creating that stupid photo mode instead of fixing FUNDAMENTAL gameplay problems like this. |

SWEET! i just figured out that you CAN rewin prize cars for non-series championships. if you go and try to redo the race, it will ask if you want to clear all the trophies... then you can rewin all the races and get another prize car. for example, you can clear the two trophies in the rally d' capri (on easy) and rewin both of them then get another toyota rsc rally car which sells for almost $280k... a great, quick way to make some cash.

I find it odd that a few of the cars I am winning have no specs (no drive type, weight, etc.) and have no cost (can't be sold). I figured this was Ok for the special cars, but I just won an '05 Mazda 6 (stock) and I can't sell it and it has no drive train type so I can't enter it in quite a few races that it desereves to be in. What is the deal with this? Am I going to keep winning cars that I can't sell and can't drive or is this just a fluke?

not being able to sell the cars you win is typical.
I just got 25%. I threw my CLK GTR into the Nurburgring 24 hours endurance in B-spec mode, and set it at 3x speed. Lets see if this works and I wake up with a million dollars.

Got the game, and I don't even own a playstation. So I borrowed the neighbor's kids playstation (he has all three platforms). First time on the nurburgring did 9.24 in a buick grand national. Stock. Woo hoo! Anyways, need to get a ps2 memory card to save in simulation mode. Then I can build me some cars.
