Well, now that this game is released on consoles, what are your thoughts? I've yet to play, but from what I've seen and read it looks rather awesome. I'm picking it up as soon as I can.

The demo for PC was complete garbage. I think we had a thread about this maybe 3 weeks ago.

That was about Superhero games and the Spiderman game on PC is not the same one on consoles, it's a hack version for 5 year olds. The console one is supposed to be very good, gonna give it a shot later today at work.

From what I have heard, it is getting really good reviews. It is supposed to be a fully open NYC that you can just websling around in, sort of like GTA with webshooters.

Crazy

The way I've heard it described by people that have played it is: "Grand Theft Auto with SpiderMan". Meaning it's as open ended as GTA, not that Spidey has to swing around shakin' down hos.

I just bought it today for PS2, and let me just say this: I spent literally over 3 HOURS just webbing around beating thugs up and roaming. The webslinging definitely puts you in mind of the movies, with all sorts of insane, over-the-top moments that just make you think: "hey...this kicks some ass". The combat can be a little iffy, mostly devolving into button mashing. But if you can master some of the more intracate combos and moves it's very rewarding. The only reason I stopped playing was because I didn't want to go too far into the storyline untill I saw the movie. But I definitely recommend it to any Spider-Man fans, and maybe everyone else too. .

That sounds very, very nice. An excellent usage of the license and great spin on the GTA-based engine.

I was playing it for about an hour at work today on xbox, (having all 3 systems, xbox, ps2, and gamecube beside eachother makes it easier to compare). And I must say, the xbox version is much better.

With that said, the game fuckin rules. Web slinging around, power jumping, all of it is pure awsomeness. I'll definitely be picking it up when I get some money.

Looks like there's a few of us here who get paid to play games I had a go on the Xbox version and loved it! Granted I only played for a few minutes it felt really good and more importantly, very deep. Might pick it up and give it a proper go this weekend.

The web-slingin' control takes a little getting used to.

But this game is, as some of you would say, "t3h r0xx0rs!".

I would. That's my system, too =) The game is pretty much identical across the systems, other than minor graphics changes to optimise it. A very well done piece of programming, indeed.

Well its pretty much the same for GC and XB, but I'm sorry to say this, it looks like shit on PS2 IMHO. I dunno, I don't dig the trails. I think it looks best on xbox.

And t3m3st, I only have so much time to play it at work, but I'm at Rhino right now. Took me a while to figure out what to do with him.

i've just read in an interview that the developers were concentrating on just the swinging and web engine, and having the entire of Manhatten at the player's disposal. Everything else was just "gravy" added in until the movie release. Now that they've got the meat down pat, the third movie game is gonna O W N.

Just got it last night -

I agree that it takes a bit of practice to get used to the web swinging, but once you get the hang of it, you'll be slingin like a pro.

With the exception that the non-plot missions are a bit repetative, this is an awesome, awesome game. I think it is more like True Crime than GTA, but same difference, I guess.

Is it just me, or does anyone else get some sick satisfaction of swan-diving off the empire state building and eating cement?

The city is huge.... incredibly huge. There isn't a whole lot that could make it better, IMHO, except adding in the power to slingshot yourself at things (a la movie)

Well, I haven't gotten too far in the game yet, but...

There is something that reads like it should slingshot you, but in reality you just get a better jump from it. Perhaps I just don't know how to utilize it, but whenever you hit the web swing button you automatically go into the air... I was thinking more along the lines of launching yourself from the ground...

While I admit the console version is the bomb, isnt anyone besides me just a little pissed that we PC gamers are getting screwed yet again? Christ, this isnt even a shitty port of the console game. Its a piece of shit that you would find for free inside of a box of Fruity Pebbles. The original spiderman movie game kicked ass on th PC, especially for the 20 bucks I payed for it. What the hell went wrong?

Yeah, where did you buy it? We're supposed to tell all customers that its a completely different game for PC where I work (EB).

But on a side note, they simply put less work into the PC port. PC games aren't selling for as much as they used to, so the game reflects the price. Why would they put the same amount of time into a game that sells for 1/2 the price of a console port?

I am enjoying it so much I got home a little after midnight and stayed up for 2 hours playing it and only got through one chapter because I just wander around having fun. My only gripe so far is that the sinking boat side mission is way too difficult. I landed on the boat twice and bounced right off -- Spider-Man can STICK TO WALLS! Anyway, it's very, very good. I got it for the PS2 just because my collection of PS2 games is much slimmer than my GC stack. Church, are you using the component video cable for the PS2? It looks pretty good using that.

Yeah, its got nothing to do with the cables, its the programming. I'm just saying, compared to xbox and gamecube, the ps2 one is ugly.

Swinging around the city is wonderful, but it's too easy to get lost. And the actual missions are kinda tedious and not all that fun.

Just picked it up and DAMN it's good fun =) Just spent about four hours cruising around doing the odd mission, the swinging engine is just so awesome.

eggy, you do have a map and pointers on all the time, so finding your way isn't too difficult =P

Well I attempted to play this. I went out and bought it for my Xbox. Popped it in, started to play. Was having a blast. Just got done the first mission when it froze. No biggy, so I restarted it. Bam froze again on the title screen. Ok getting annoyed. So I restarted it again but this time my Xbox wont turn on and I just get a flashing red/green circle...
I call the Xbox number. My 90 day warranty expired 13 days ago... So they won't help me at all unless I want to shell out $180 CAD (shipping, postage, repair fee) to have this thing fixed. Well suffice it to say I am mighty pissed. I couldn't even get a refund on my now useless game. All I could get was stupid store credit that I had to fight for.
So I am now not touching this game at all... And I no longer have an Xbox. I can't justify buying another one or spending that kind of money to get mine fixed. What a crappy crappy turn of events...

On a side note, the game was good for the 15 minutes I got to play it...
