1. Kero Kero King DX - A golf game where you hit frogs with mallets instead of golf balls and clubs
2. Phantasy Star Online - Online multiplaying Hack and Slash goodness 3. Naruto Ninja Taisen 2 - Based on the currently running anime, It features cell shading, and 4 player fighting 4. Animal Crossing - Genre crossing, highly addictive simulation game. I cant wait for the sequel to come out. 5. Mario Kart - Racing around and getting wacked with stuff has never been soo much fun, and i play it online too. 6. Legend of Zelda:Windwaker - Never played a Zelda game much before this one, and I really liked it. A good introduction for new plkayhers, and all around good game. 7. Cubivore - Evolutionary simulation game where you attempt to be king of the jungle! 8. Mario sunshine - Mario platformer that is a little intimidating at times, but is overall a great game. 9. Donkey Konga - Makes me glad that I import games. It's like Mambo a GoGo for my favorite console. Think DDR, with bongos 10. Viewtiful Joe - Great side scrolling beat-em up from Capcom. Im very happy the US branch brought this over. Links/ reviews to come later Last edited by Ganguro; 12-16-2003 at 12:53 PM.. |

Lasereth is right on the money.
However, I would add.. <a href=http://cube.ign.com/objects/016/016387.html>Super Smash Bros. Melee</a>, <a href=http://cube.ign.com/articles/435/435315p1.html>Soul Calibur II</a>(cause you get to whoop ass with Link!) and <a href=http://cube.ign.com/articles/456/456817p1.html> Tony Hawk's Underground</a> (because you can't go wrong with Tony Hawk).

Yeah, these guys have pretty much nailed it. One addition, if you're into racers, get Burnout 2 . This game is insane fun in multiplayer, and single player is long enough and challenging enough to keep you coming back. I've been through the game 3 times, which is a record for me and racers =D.

Just picked up a gamecube and I am very VERY pleased with it. So far I've only picked up SSX 3 and Zelda for it. I thought that I would play Zelda nonstop and I would never get into SSX 3 (never been into trick-action-extreme-sports games). Now I can't put SSX 3 away. I'm so unbelievably addicted. It truly is an incredible game. I haven't even touched Zelda yet. For $99 there is no reason anyone should be without a Gamecube. I've taken note of the recommended games and will definitely check them out!

I liked it, but then, i'm the friend who bought it. I never played the first ones though, not enough to be able to complain about there not being enough innovation and new shit.

About the Mario Kart: Double Dash game:
I agree with Lasereth, but not so much about the lack of innovation as the lack of having a human opponent to go against. I haven't even been able to touch the Battle Modes yet because my friends aren't much into the Mario kind of game, plus my bro is gone to the Navy now, so I've been stuck with solo-playing. In my situation, while it was fun, I don't think it would have been worth buying if the bonus disc didn't come with it (not that the bonus disc is real special, but it was just enough to make it a worthy purchase). Oh, and I was also one of those people who completely wore out the SNES and N64 versions, so I was already real good at it when I first started playing it. About the Top 10 (sorry, I'm not bothering with links guys): 1 (tied). "Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker" - Don't let anyone kid you about the cel-shaded graphics, this is an amazing game. It's the second-best Zelda in my opinion, only behind "Ocarina Of Time". 1 (tied). "Metroid Prime" - My personal favorite of the Metroid games and one of my two personal favorites on the Gamecube, this game was astounding in every factor. 3. "Sonic Mega Collection" - Yes, I'm the first to mention this one. Yes, I'm likely one of the only people, if not the only person, to mention this one. No, it probably shouldn't count because it's all the classic Sonic games I've grown to love off the Genesis wrapped into one sweet collection. 4 (tied). "NFL 2K3" - I'm willing to bet that ESPN Football's better (I played it on the X-Box and I liked it more), but since I haven't tried the Gamecube version, NFL 2K3 gets the honors of being #4. 4 (tied). "Super Smash Brothers: Melee" - THE party game of the system, it is always filled with laughs and excitement. You really can't go wrong with it. 6. "Super Mario Sunshine" - Although more difficult than almost any other Mario game I can think of, it's still a brilliant game. 7. "Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time / Master Quest" - This would be up alot higher, but it's a hardly-updated version of the same game from the N64 with a second mode (Master Quest) that reminds me too much of the first one to be 100% excited about. If you haven't played it on the N64 before, then you need to find a friend with this bonus disc and check it out, now. SIDE-NOTE: What Zelda games are on that new disc that's beign shipped with the Gamecube? 8. "Luigi's Mansion" - Oh no I just didn't! Actually, I did, and I stand proud with it being on my list. It's an under-rated game that too many people had huge expectations for. 9. "Animal Crossing" - An extremely innovative game, but I couldn't keep interested with it as long as many of my other friends could. A good purchase, but make sure you know what you're buying here. 10. "Mario Kart: Double Dash!!" - A solid game...you can read what I said at the top of this post.

H12, the new bonus disk has Zelda 1, 2 (from the NES), as well as OoT and Majora's Mask. It also has a demo of Wind Waker on there, plus a few movies, I think.

Semi-dead thread, but...
Super Monkey Ball and Super Monkey Ball 2...you have to at least try them. The controls are simple and there's plenty of stuff for novices, but damn...if they're not a couple of the hardest games ever made at the upper levels, I'm not sure what would be. |
