Sorry about the delay in posting everyone. I only have regular access to a computer while at work, and I just had a 3-day weekend out here in Japan. Also, since there is a 12 to 14-hour difference between me and the USA, most of my posts may seem to come at a strange time!
Anyway, I'm back. Let's rock.

OK...I am more than just a little annoyed.
Many of you have been clamoring for action. And many times I put you into some action, it goes "pfffst" You've been avoiding the places with the most obvious "beasties" You ran from the pack of vampires above You ignore or pass on the treasure given to you You don't try to figure out where the hell the Father went. And a damn shadow demon is on his last leg, trying to escape and you almost let him out the FUCKING door!!!! (with only one claw from Darghon, and a few energy blades from Sexodus) He was heading RIGHT at you. D'Aleen could have blasted him Kentalos could have blasted him Attrah could have hit him with his cold steel blade. Don't assume the creature is down, until I "say" it's down or gone. You don't know what strength it's at. You're basically in a "war zone" here. Don't assume anything. You know I'm really trying to add some puzzles and action here and it seems as if sometimes you're walking right by it. This is VERY frustrating to me. I try very hard to add things here & there...and to have them just go by the wayside...is defeating. I am trying to keep everyone involved, and create some challenge but your actions sometime contradict what you are asking for. You ask to play, and then you don't play You ask for action, and then you don't act You ask for puzzles, and then you don't think about them. (and this is not all of you for all of this, this is some of you for each or some of this) Please, I've asked you for some feedback and you've kindly given it to me and I'm greatly enjoying the story as it's developing, but if you want the play you want, then you need to followup with me & the storyline with your character's involvement. I can set up the scene, but I don't want to direct your characters. Let's make this into something even more special and keep up on the plot, and to increase the edge... maybe start getting frustrated at this maze, and start confronting instead of avoiding (not insanely so, but heroically so) This place is obviously a place of play & torture for the owner, as well as a staging place for his invasions. Aren't you tired of being a part of his act? Maybe I'm tired, but this frustrates me as I try to draw the story and your characters play. Should I just start just throwing out wandering monsters everywhere constantly? and everyone is going to get hit everywhere, and if you don't act, then "oh well..." I've tried to be understanding that this is not continuous, and that life happens outside of here, so maybe I haven't pushed you to the edge constantly, or leapt on top of you while you were away. Should I change this...and just start saying "oh well..."? No because with that kind of ruthlessness the game would be empty in no time. This is about participation, interaction & using your creativity And "acting" with your character as they might for "real". You need to be there as much as me. I am nothing without you, there is no story. Let me know what you think. Last edited by rogue49; 11-24-2003 at 07:16 PM.. |

I haven't notice any puzzle yet Rogue.. I was gonna message you saying I wanted some but that was it.. And I'm not really seeing anything to obvious about the way we're supposed to go as of yet.. I'm sorry Rogue if we're making this tuff.. When it comes to puzzles I'm more of a myst person.. hehe..

Rogue, the fact that we seem to be "walking by" your puzzles and monsters is the ubiquitous element that makes the game master such a challenging position. I've GMed a few games in my time and I understand the frustrations inherent to crafting a quest.
Also, players get attached to their characters. Avoiding the vampires on the top level was a demonstration of that phenomenon. In most of our battles of this quest, we have always tried to formulate a plan. At that time, we were not well equipped to deal with a potential group of undead, so we bailed. This is most likely what any of us would have done in real life: avoid unnecessary risks. I understand that risks is what heroes and adventurers are supposed to take, but I refer you to my previously stated statement about attachment. I'm sorry if you feel angry about our inaction or decision at what you may call "key moments", but please remember that YOU are the key holder. To quote The Matrix: you are guarding all the doors and holding alll the keys. While you may know when we are nearing something important, we do not. The place we are currently in is vast and contains many potential directions, so you shouldn't be surprised if we happen to miss something in our need to cover as much ground as we can. All I'm saying is this: we value the time you put in this thing. Believe me when I say that, just like you, we want to get the most out of this great quest. However, this is a big place and we are a big group, so we'll all just have to deal with that and give it our best shot.

I will have to look and read the details of your posts a little more carefully Rogue. Perhaps if I find some time I can actually go back and map out where we have gone. There are so many places that I know we have not visited and have bypassed. On the other hand we have kept moving. When you think about the characters, we were told to go and defeat the evil in the Tomb of Velix. We don't know what that evil is. And so we look for it. Packs of things are likely not it (although they should be culled to prevent them from coming up behind if we do find the evil). I thought we were onto something when we went up with the gatekeeper but he disappeared.
Hmm...I'm not really getting to a point here am I? Well, I'll just have to do a little better in the game. I'll also have to try to check a little more often (although that's going to be a little difficult while I'm on client site). It seems like I keep missing all the battles. I get into the setup for something and then miss a day or two and it is over. That's just the reality of playing over the internet though. Regardless, I'll do better... and thanks again for your effort in this Rogue.

I know that I'm a new voice here, but I check this forum about twice or three times a day. I tried to go from the beginning to the end post by post, but it can be a little difficult, so i ussually just take a couple posts a day. I haven't gotten through the whole quest up to this point just yet, and frankly, i feel a little against it; I don't have a whole lot of information of it.. but
Because its not in my nature as the pixie, I wouldn't say it in game, but that dagger that was in my treasure box had alot of significance to it and it was cited often. Just carrying it around won't do anything unless we take a look at its hilt, or its blade, etc. Also, the cot was perfectly made, so that shadow we killed was there for a reason... it might have been a former owner.. There might be some notes lying around detailing what went on. Now, I play a charactar that is very not me. I ussually (at work and school) am very to the point ready to give an answer and provide a suggestion. My charactars that I choose to play tend to be the exact opposite. Klutzy, coy, and a little bit instinctive more than wise. ::shrug:: Hope this might help some insight. BTW -- I know nothing of the campaign that none of you don't already know.. I haven't been given any additional information that any of you guys. I am into this brand new as a completely aloof charactar and player. Soo.. to that effect.. why not lets sit down and look at that dagger? |

Yeah I know.. When darghon gets a chance Up to rogue whether Attrah and Darghon are still able to see it or if it's vanished up the stairs or down the hall.. But that'll be on the next thing to do

Well, you know if someone would like I am a wizard/cleric and I do have the identify spell. Remember I was not really concious of the dagger, so I can't just say give it to me to identify. I am going to have a few new abilities also, so just keep in mind the weakling mage is of the past, while not uber or anything I will have a few key abilities now.

I apologize for my outburst.
It was late at night, and I was tired. It's just frustrating to get feedback saying that more action is needed. And when I take the time to create it, it's not acted upon. I take the same attitude with the databases I create, even if it's the simplest one, I get frustrated when it's not used. Why put out the effort if it's not used? I enjoy creating & sharing...and I love that you all have joined me on this adventure. Something wonderful is slowly emerging. Your parts are just as important as mine. OK...enough bitchin'...let's have at it. |

I was coming in to apologize for not being as active as I would like as my internet at home is (in Rogue's words) all blooey and I can't always spare the time at work to come and play.
Now...I find we are in hot water with our GM Rogue, I can understand your frustration but as pointed out above, sometimes we don't know (obviously) what's coming up. Sometimes if a player skips a day or even a few hours, you can miss a lot and then it seems better for the flow of the game just to continue on where the others are. I, for one, am not able to always access in the evening and that's when most of the action seems to happen. And, just as in real life, I think we make mistakes in the game (by missing things). Also I think that sometimes there are too many cooks in the kitchen, so to speak. I don't think it would be realistic if the entire group gathers around to examine that blade...a few yes, while a few do other things, just as we most likely would if in this scenario IRL. In our defence.....I do believe that Darghon was heading out to give chase to that creature. And, the reason I didn't take my shot at it was I was under the impression that Krazixs was involved in close range combat with it. The only reason I didn't do anything was for fear of hitting him. :\ I know we all appreciate the job you do for us and how hard you work at it but I think we are doing the best we can under the circumstances. My two cents.

Despite my hissy-fit...I am aware that there is a real world out there.
And many of you won't be available for a few for the holiday Between Wednesday & Sunday, I know you're focusing on family. So if you aren't available, it's perfectly understandable. I've already finished my T-day...I had it early because my mom's working. If we do move, we'll keep the action down until most return. You all are gandering at several things right now so that's good. Enjoy your holiday....and slay that turkey for it is EVIL. BTW...congrats...I've just recorded the 13th page of 100 posts. That's over 1300 total for the game and over 8100 views DAMN! Last edited by rogue49; 11-25-2003 at 05:58 PM.. |

Well if he wanted out of the game he certainly isn't going to be around to post and "lead us in circles"
Obviously if he wants out and Rogue is going to make him go down fighting...well heck I'll step up and play!
