Tomb Of Velix OOC

Just thought that we might wish to discuss the game out of thread. If this is inappropriate, Rogue, feel free to smite.

How are we to deal with conversational threads? I would almost have liked to reply to Vinoh.

rekinom 04-25-2003 02:13 PM

Post removed.

Grondar 04-25-2003 02:56 PM

I too am new, so please bear with me as well.

It should be a lot of fun though, as I always enjoyed role playing games. :)

WildZero 04-25-2003 04:13 PM

Cool, I'll give it a go....never done this online before.

rogue49 04-25-2003 07:30 PM

Actually this is a good idea.
I see no harm in it.

And anything you might plan here or in PM, I can deal with anyway.
It is good being Godlike:)

The thread is openended, of course we all have lives outside of it,
I will at least update everyday,
this will give all the other a chance to read what's up and interact and respond.
Sometimes this will be more often,
it depends on my ability to update and the flow of the story and who I am interacting with.

Please do not speak for or describe the actions for anyone else except yourselves,
you can't do that in real life nor can you do it here.
(Unless your charm spell works, then that is a whole different matter.;))

Remember that this is more for character development and the storyline,
so I won't be emphasizing game mechanics as much if at all.
If you play fair, I play fair,
and I'll try to give you the benefit of the doubt.

If anyone is missing for awhile, there character will be "outted".
(fall in a pit, disappearing, whatever)
Then they will be out of the way, until the are found.
Anyone who is "outted" needs to PM me, to note they want to play again.
I will figure a way to work you into the story again
(let me do this, not you)

Anyone who fucks up, is killed.
And you'll have to start all over again.:)
(and when I say fuck up, I mean member attitude, not character actions)

I will make more input as we go on, or as questions pop up.

Also you are welcome to PM me at anytime
to let me know something that should remain between just you & me.

I hope you enjoy, I certainly already am.

As you know I am hosting the get-together,
so I might be a little pre-occupied a next two days, so please bare with me.

We are starting our little world here and as you know the world wasn't created in a day.
It took seven.;)

forgotten_dream 04-25-2003 07:57 PM

*clears throat nervously* as a point of theological accuracy, it actually only took 6. Please don't smite Gell! *cringes*

RenegadeSoul 04-25-2003 08:43 PM

I am looking forward to take part in this. It looks quite fun

rogue49 04-25-2003 08:44 PM

You are right, the seventh is the day of rest.
But this Demi-god, needs an extra day.
Hey nobody's perfect.;)

Golux 04-26-2003 01:52 AM

Would anyone in here like to have a rivalry with my character? I.E. Our characters have met before and butted heads. I think it would add a neet dynamic to the group. If you are interested let me know and we can work out the details in PM so that everyone else will be suprised!

rogue49 04-27-2003 12:10 PM

DO NOT ASSUME THE ACTIONS OF OTHERS OR THE STORY!!

I do not want players describing the actions, history, descriptions or powers of other characters.

I also do not want players adding to the story, or descriptions of the environment without checking with me first.

I might have different plans.

If you do this often, I will ask you to leave or kill off your character.

We need to place a limit on what a character might know.
If you want to use a power that lets you know something TO BE described,
just PM me to ask "Do I sense what is coming down the hall?"

Or if you have ANY question whatsoever, just PM me.
Just because I haven't update the story, doesn't mean I'm not available,
mostly I'm waiting a bit for players to react.

Others might want to color their own book,
Allow them to describe who they are and what they do.

I think you will enjoy this because this
allows you to build up the tension of not knowing really what's around the corner or what another might do.
Just like a in a movie, or real life.
That's half the fun.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Bob Biter 04-27-2003 12:24 PM

Good day all,

I'd just like to publicly apologise for assuming anyone's thoughts/words/actions. I now understand the dynamic of this current story (sorry Rogue, I got your PMs late), so all assuming duties will now be completely in the hands of the GM.

rogue49 04-27-2003 12:36 PM

Thank you very much Bob
I appreciate you saying that.
I just want this to be interesting for all.

I'm almost finish with the whole get-together and having guests.
Soon I'll be able to focus on our fun.
And it will be fun.

On a different tangent, and a much lighter note.
I just realized my avatar is a perfect one for GMing.
heh:)

rogue49 04-28-2003 08:14 AM

Due to a certain personal needs at this time,
I find it necessary to focus on that.

This would take it away from this wonderful thread we have all created.
I do want this to happen, and so to keep the magic going
I am handing over the reins to a fellow Demi-God/Gamemaster/Mod;)

Redravin

He is a beautiful storyteller, and I believe this will enhance what you are going to experience.
He is very interpersonal, and all you have to do is PM him with any questions, requests and interactions you have.

I have already told him the plot and other details.
Please use the same standards and rules I have already established and respect his decisions.

I truly do hope you enjoy this all, and I'm sorry I won't be able to join you in this part of the path.
But I shall return...
And like all good adventures, the story must go on.;)

Take care, and thank you all for joining us.

Bob Biter 04-28-2003 09:18 AM

I'm sure we'll be in good hands with our new GM!

Rogue, will you be returning as a player character or GM/Co-GM?

GoldenOuroboros 04-28-2003 02:31 PM

Just as long as there is a GM :D I think that's where the others failed.. there wasn't a steady GM to describe our surroundings and what was goin on..

:D

Bob Biter 04-29-2003 09:44 AM

Vinoh Madren

Just thought I'd lay out my character description here, in case the GM or anyone else would like to know more about him:

Name: Vinoh Madren
Race: Human
Class: Mind mage (master psychic)
Alignment: Scrupulous (Palladium system)
Age: 25
Experience level: 3rd

Physical description: Average build and height, with bald head and grey eyes. Wears light to dark grey travel robes and carries a knapsack. A wooden club hangs at his side.

Background: Exhibiting psychic powers at a young age, Vinoh was presented to the Mind's Eye Guild, who is dedicated to the development and understanding of mental powers. While traditionally viewed with fear and suspicion, psychics of this guild always defended the realm from any threats and proved to be invaluable when dealing with paranormal occurances, which eventually earned them the trust of most people.

Vinoh quickly learned to master most low level abilities and spent the better part of a decade in honing his powers and wordly skills. Having recently been given the informal title of "potential", which denotes those wishing to become full-fledged mind mages, Vinoh was asked by his Guildmaster to respond to the Duke's summons, both as a test of his courage and dedication, as well as a way to develop his powers even further.

Powers: Although psychic powers are very personal and vary greatly from one person to the next, Vinoh apparently tends to exhibit a combination of sensitive and physical powers, mostly favoring the former. He has minor healing abilities, but these are barely developped. He is a fair fighter, but his physical skills mostly involve defensive combat, as Vinoh relies primarly on his mental abilities.

Motivation: Desire for knowledge
Allies: Mind's Eye Guild
Enemies: None, although psychics and mages rarely get along, due to opposing power sources and philosophies.

Equipment: Traveling robes, traveling boots, knapsack, rope, flint, sleeping/meditation mat, food for 2 days, water skin, soap, pendant with guild crest, wooden battle club.

Cubby 04-29-2003 11:53 AM

Redravin...Do you think we should all have/create such detailed bios..or at least list what we are carrying? How close to "realistic" do we want to be?

Also, do you mind communication between participants in PMs or do you want everything down in the OOC or RPG threads?

redravin40 04-29-2003 01:05 PM

I am fine either way, on communication.

The bios help everyone get a handle on the game.
It isn't necesary to tell everything but an outline is very useful.

Bob Biter 04-30-2003 05:31 AM

I didn't mean for my own bio to serve as a template for others, it's just that I like to write and I guess I got carried away with the details...

Cubby 04-30-2003 08:01 AM

Don't worry about it Bob, the details were great. For my character I will eventually write up a little history or just details about the character including what he has to adventure with...

Tower 04-30-2003 06:45 PM

I really hope they re-open the Tilted Roleplaying section. It would make keeping track of The Tomb OOC and IC sections MUCH easier.

On another note, I would *really* like to play in the game, but it's already pretty far into it, and I don't know if it'd be alright for me to enter. Additionally, there is a large wealth of people already involved -- I don't want to burden.

I would like to RP..there or anywhere, though.

Bob Biter 05-01-2003 05:40 AM

Well, a lot of players who started off with the rest of us don't seem to be there anymore, so maybe you could take over a character, or create one and say he/she arrived late.

Since we're still at the castle, I think you could join in without any problems. PM redravin!

Tower 05-01-2003 02:15 PM

lol well I just tried to 'leap in' -- due to my tardiness the idea I conjured up seems to be appropriate.

forgotten_dream 05-01-2003 02:22 PM

You certainly made quite a commotion when you arrived. It was a good entrance-- I'm impressed and want to see more! (Plus you've allready got Gell's attention-- he'll be dissapointed if you leave. ;) )

forgotten_dream 05-01-2003 02:54 PM

Just a racial question for Tower, what is he? Half orc, or something else?

Tower 05-01-2003 06:35 PM

Yep, half-orc.. same as Gell. (Tried to hint at that when I said I saw someone 'similar'). :)

forgotten_dream 05-01-2003 10:04 PM

K, that's what I thought from the description. In that case, welcome brother orc! ;)

Cubby 05-02-2003 03:08 PM

Great entrance Tower...sorry for the "welcome" but I was really suprised everyone's characters just figured that it was an everyday occurance and decided to accept that this prisoner orc was all of a sudden part of our group.

I wanted to try to get you to prove your innocence or trust, or..whatever. Gell calling you "brother" or "friend" or something would have done it but until then, I don't think my character would have let up.

Regardless, welcome aboard!

(and watch your step! ;))

Tower 05-02-2003 03:55 PM

Thanks for the welcome, Forgotten and Cubby. Don't worry about the giving me a hard time, I actually thought it was pretty cool, and it adds mystery to my character..hehe.

Anyways, this should be a fun game.

Cubby 05-05-2003 09:07 AM

Just an FYI to everyone that as of end of day today PST I'll be incommunicato for a day or so then will potentially have limited access for a couple of weeks. I'm off to a client in the UK and I'm not sure of interet access. I should have some at the hotel room so probably not a problem but in case not, hopefully my character isn't too damaged by the time I return.

Bob Biter 05-05-2003 11:23 AM

I'd also like to note that since I only have Internet access at work, anything said or done to my character will not be answered/reacted to by yours truly on weeknights and weekends.

GoldenOuroboros 05-14-2003 07:15 AM

Have you ever seen a post as big as my last one that was actually written up from scratch :D

Have fun all :D
Hope you all didn't think I was gone

Minx 05-29-2003 09:58 AM

Hello everyone! I hope you don't mind my stumbling into the story so far into it...and for allowing a girl (gasp) into your midst! :p
I am very new to rp games but am enjoying it very much. I love the fact you don't know what is going to happen next and learning more about each character as time goes on. Forgive my mistakes I may make (for ex: thinking Sarael was in the inn when I arrived....where the heck did he go to anyways?) as I am still learning!
I have a question for redravin. How are we to deal with important characters that "slip away" and who are carrying something we will need later. I'm speaking specifically of arael's character Orpheon who was in charge of the two scrolls given in the castle. If we have lost that character - how shall we regain the scrolls?
Thanks again for letting me join in and a big thanks to GoldenOuroboros for the nice welcome I received.
See you all in the game! :)

Cubby 05-29-2003 12:51 PM

Minx, welcome to the game! Don't worry about knowing what you are doing, just have fun. As for characters that aren't around right now...it is somewhat of a problem at times (such as when I started to set a broken arm and then couldn't log on for over a week..and found myself coming back to an army of undead) but for the most part just deal with whatever is currently occuring and feel free to throw some twists into the plot. Set your character's mood and try to stick to it. I know I've already strayed somewhat from what I wanted to but I think I can pull Thantos back.

Looking forward to a great adventure! Welcome aboard.

Minx 05-29-2003 02:00 PM

Thank you for both the welcome and the advice Cubby. It is appreciated. I hope you all will correct me if I do anything wrong...well I know redravin will :)

Apokx 05-29-2003 03:40 PM

Saw this thread for the first time, after posting the 210th reply to the Tomb of Velix.

Anyways, post more replies.I troll the boards until someone does -_-

rogue49 05-29-2003 05:41 PM

If you have any specific questions, just PM redravin.
Including if you are wondering if something if proper or not.
It's his show now.
I'm just a minor consultant now.;)

Minx 05-29-2003 07:29 PM

It's nice to know you are still watching over us though, Rogue!

GoldenOuroboros 05-30-2003 02:52 AM

oooo.. this thread survives :D

All is good, welcome again, Minx.
Personally I've never met a chick Roleplayer.. I guess they do exist outside the bedroom :p

Yeah rogue! I hope you're enjoying the show and where it is taking us :D

Minx 05-30-2003 11:56 AM

lmao...never met a chick r/p eh? Well I'm glad to be the first! :D
I am happy you all let me into the group, as I said I'm a rookie though so go easy on me!
I liked the idea mentioned earlier about bios....especially since the numbers have dropped rather dramatically from the start of the game.
For anyone interested this is D'Aleen in a nutshell...

Name - pronounced "da leen"
Race - elf (with some human bloodline due to her ancestor Aine *a godess of old Ireland* and her attraction to human men lol)
Age - 25 (human years...much much older in elvin)
Powers - in tune with nature, can speak with the animals and has a limited ability to converse with trees; in tune with the elements (slight magic allowing her to create fog, mist, small storms, etc.); elves see very well in the dark (may come in handy!)
Weapons - very skilled with a bow/arrows; carries a long silver dagger strapped to her thigh in case of close combat - unfortunately elves tend to be slight and rather delicate despite being fierce warriors
Mood/character - always ready with a smile and a kind word for everyone but there is an underlying sadness to her; trusting (too much perhaps) and very compassionate with an open heart and ear
