Looked like Raiden to me.
Maybe my dream is coming true about MGS3...I'd love to have the last part of the game take place in current-times. -Lasereth

Of course I want to get my hands on this game, my username alone should be enough to attest to that.
Edit: Quote:
As far as I know, the Raiden lookalike has nothing to do with the actual game, if he is actualy a character in the game I doubt we'll see any big role from him. It's basically just Naked Snake (Big Boss), The Boss, Volgin, The Cobra Unit and Eva as the main characters. Last edited by Solid Snake; 09-29-2004 at 09:09 AM.. |

omg, i just watched all the trailers, it seems that their may be mutilpl storys/missions in the game? the lose of an eye, the blackbird jets versus the hercules planes. I strongly beleive that the "ocelot" character may be grey fox. There is a few inconsistancys but still, it makes sense.

I doubt it. Frank Jaeger(Fox) was a young soldier in the 80s with Big Boss. Plus all the trailers hinting the games gonna taking place in the 60s.
Its funny how Johnny keep coming back. He's from a long line of cell guards. In MGS1 takes a crap while on guard and in MGS2 takes a crap while guarding the hostages. I wonder what will he do in MGS3? perhaps more crap

This game looks amazing. The last trailer I watched that Blitz found was fucking awesome! The "freakshows" are back. We have a guy that can control bees for cryin' out loud. Gives you a warm, fuzzy feelin' inside...
I loved the metal gear at the end busting out of the building, I cheered quite loudly This game is going to be badass to the max When the Gregson-Williams MGS theme started at the end I almost burst into tears of joy! And who can turn down Revolver Ocelot revolving those revolvers like nobody's business

I seen that pic in ebworld.com. It seems if you preorder MGS3, you'll get a demo disc Damn the preorder bonus kinda suck. I was hoping we could get a snake Figurine like what Dead or alive ultimate's preorder (gamestop.com)

i don't know if i've posted this forum yet...but notice that the game is Metal Gear Solid 3...not metal gear solid zero...that makes me think that there is a reason Snake is back to his roots, something to do with getting that russian chick's baby. So my theory...3/4ths worth of jungle with snake as Virtual Big Boss (before he was Big Boss), then the last 4th is as snake in classic sneaking mission indoors action. those of you who say impossible, just remember the Kojima is notorious for throwing us all off and making some huge impossible yet wildly entertaining story.

MGS2 sucked balls plotwise. I loved the gameplay but about halfway through the game, I just had to stop paying attention to the plot because it just confused me. There were way too many plot twists to keep the game interesting. Having your character get screwed over once is ok but not three and a half dozen times in a game that takes 12-15 hours to beat. That's like 3 screwjobs in an hour!

Yeah the magazine came out on tuesday of this week. Sorry if it's old news.
I got the magazine the day it came out and I got it at Barnes and Nobles. I started looking for it on the shelves but it only showed the October issue and when I asked the people they took me to this room that needed a password in order to go in and I waited outside. When he finally came out in his hand he was holding the November OPM with the demo. The demo is awesome and I recommend anyone who has the jitters for MGS3 to get this mag. p.s. it also has other good demos. |

I think this might be the most interesting action game of the fall. As far as the story goes, i think its going to be hit or miss. You would think you are playing as big boss, yet in some of the vids there are almost futuristic hovercrafts which arent very 60's. This game has kept a very low profile with very little leaked info. I'm sure there is going to be a giant twist that we will either love or hate.

All the clues scream "Big Boss"...the setting in the 60's, the eye cut off...however with great master Hideo kojima directing the game, we can expect a couple surprises. oh man can't wait can't wait!!!

I'm feeling up to a short review now.
Graphics: The best of the series, arguably best on Playstation 2 at the moment. The cut scenes are damn-near movie-like, and the environments are life-like and real. Spoiler: 50% of the game takes place INSIDE. Hideo pulled a fast one on us again. Yes, the game is about jungle warfare, but you play inside buildings a large portion of the game. Gameplay: Fucking awesome. Combines the elements of all the MGS games into one sweet package. Your radar is gone, but you have two or three items that substitute as a radar. For instance, the Sonar item gives you a map ala MGS and MGS 2, but you have to "ping" it to make the enemies show up. You click the L3 stick on the PS2 controller, and it makes a "ping" sound (similar to a submarine) and it shows up on the map where bodies are. Just all kinds of stuff like this make the game awesome. You truly are Charlie in the Bush in this one. You can change your camoflauge and facepaint to blend in with your environments. The Boss Battles are very nice. One of them is border-line EPIC. Took me 50 minutes to do it...... Plot/Characters: The plot is very good also. It's not nearly as complicated as MGS2 but it does have the classic "MGS" feel to it (psycho-fuck characters, huge plot twists, torture, etc.). The three best characters are The Boss, Snake, and Revolver Ocelot. Ocelot truly shines in this game. He moves from being absurdly cocky to having respect for the battlefield. You also find out why he uses (or who told him to use) a Single Action Army in the later games. I can't stress how badass the plot is overall, it has unity and closure at the end as well. Spoiler: No, you don't play as Solid Snake, no, it's not a time paradox, no it's not Virtual Reality or a simulation (a la MGS2). I'm glad they chose not to do this. It gives you more respect for Solid Snake by learning about who his father was. You play as Big Boss (who doesn't get his title 'til the last 10 minutes of the game) the entire time, no different characters. It really is Big Boss and you really don't play as Solid Snake. Overall, I'd say this one is tied with MGS for best of the series. Perhaps better than Metal Gear Solid........

Finally beat the game yesterday. It took me 18 hour to beat the game. The gameplay is awesome but the bosses are kinda disappointing. I liked how they used to tell their story after they died in MGS1 and 2. Give you more info like how they got their power or why they're in the cobras. I thought theres going to be a interesting story behind The Sorrow but was disappointed.
It has the Best Ending Ever!!! Look at this TYCO R/C TERRAIN TWISTER Shagohod!?

The INCREDIBLE GRAPHICS coupled with the INCREDIBLE PLOT make this game a must have. Furthermore, everything from the voice overs to the cinamatics have been completely revamped, to make it a much more immersive and exciting gaming experience. For those who don't want to try it because you played the PS1 version, I advise you to at least give the game a rent and judge for yourself before blowing it off. It is truly an incredible and rare game. Its a shame GC owners won't have the pleasure of purchasing Snake Eater. |

I disagree. I think Twin Snakes was one of the most idiotic, fanboy-esque pieces of material I've ever seen. Silicon Knights butchered the series with 14-year old Matrix-style cutscenes and seriously screwed up the graphical style of the game. I watched my roommate play it from beginning to end in one sitting...I was cringing every 5 minutes at the simply immature cutscenes. Solid Snake is a hero. He's a fighter. He's a soldier. The best of the best at combat! He is NOT a fucking SUPERHERO with magical powers though...and that's what Twin Snakes turned him into. Snake is NOT Neo from the Matrix.
I was completely disgusted by Twin Snakes...but only because of the horrible, over-the-top cheesy cutscenes made for 12 year olds. The gameplay is still perfect and the voice acting/story is still fabulous. I wish they simply WOULD have made a remake of the first one without butchering the cutscenes into embarassing, unrealistic bullet-time eye candy. -Lasereth

I haven't played the PS1 MGS, so I can't judge the cinematic based on that, but I truly thought in the Twin Snakes it was done to perfection.
Although I would normally say bullet time is over used and cheesy, in this case I would have to say it was done so well that it didn't seem cheesy and actually fit in quite nicely. But like you said, if you can look past the bullet time, the rest of the game is incredible. I personally found every aspect of the game amazing, so I really have no complaints (aside from maybe watching the game more than playing it, but then again, the game is heavy on the plot, so it’s ok). Once again, I haven't played the PS1 version, so my opinion may have differed had I played that. That said, I still suggest all MGS fans give it a rent, it is an exceptional game. |

Ok, that makes sense! The reason I didn't like it was only because of the PS1 version. It was a perfect game and Twin Snakes is so different from it in terms of style and graphics that it left a bad taste in my mouth. I can see how gamers might like it without playing the first.

Twin Snake was a horrible remade IMO. The music was better in MGS with melody music which fit the atmosphere of the game. In Twin Snake, they changed some of the music to techno-ish music. Also they remove Sniper wolf's ending music Enclosure!! MGS just seemed to create a better atmosphere than TTS.
I hate how they changed Snake. Snake was calm in MGS but in Twin Snake, he goes berserk when the Armstech president forgot merly's codec #. Then pulls his gun on the Armstech President..... Which was stupid. Some of the dialouge that were changed was better in MGS too IMO. MGS: Snake: Liar! That nervous glance... that scared look in your eyes. They're rookie's eyes if I ever saw them. You've never shot a person, am I right? TTS: Snake: Liar! Your eyes wander. There's no confidence in them. The eyes of a rookie, You've never shot a person, have you? Silicon Knights killed a lot of the key moments with his ridiculous jumps and crap. Added a ton of Matrix-like moves that just ruined the feel of the game. Twin Snakes took a great game and ruined it. |

Yeah, I completely forgot about the music. I almost had a heartattack when they took out the intro theme "The Best Is Yet To Come." That's the best videogame song I've ever heard, period. Why in the fuck would you take it out? The rest of the soundtrack was omitted as well including the ending theme. BLAH!@!@

Found some interesting info on gamefaq about ocelot.
Spoiler: Snake: EVA, I wanted to ask you about Ocelot… EVA: Yeah, I know. He’s pretty infatuated with you, isn’t he? Snake: That’s not what I meant. Aren’t the Ocelots an elite unit? EVA: Yeah. Snake: So how’d he get to be their commander? He can’t be any older than 18 or 19. I can’t believe he’s already a major… EVA: I heard from the Colonel that he’s been given…special treatment. Snake: Special treatment? EVA: Yeah. He’s the son of some legendary hero or something. Snake: No wonder he seems to have the right stuff… So who is this legendary hero, anyway? EVA: Beats me. Snake: … EVA: The Colonel never told me. All I heard was that his mother was supposedly shot in the gut during battle and that he was born right there, with bullets whizzing past them. Snake: A pregnant woman in the middle of a battle? EVA: That’s what I heard. They say that when they stitched her up, the scar was shaped like a snake. Snake: Well, that’s battlefield medicine for you. What about his father, this legendary hero? EVA: He didn’t tell me. I don’t think Ocelot’s ever met his parents. Snake: Are they dead? EVA: Maybe, I don’t know. There were a lot of MIAs back then, during the last days of the war. Ocelot probably would have ended up the same way. But he was taken in and raised by GRU and Volgin. Snake: Because he was special? EVA: That’s my guess. This conversation is after the fight with ocelot when you in the cave. So Ocelot is the son of.... Spoiler: The boss and The sorrow?
