I didn't think it really "sucked balls" per se. I enjoyed the plot twists to a great extent. It at least made you think, which a lot of games recently tend to not make you do. If you read some synopsises or essays (yes I'm a nerd) on the whole plot of MGS2, you can really see what Hideo Kojima was trying to say with the game. Put it this way: The game was really fucking weird the last half for more than one reason. Kojima was basically giving the world a big F-You and showing his personal opinion on matters through this videogame. That's why it got so weird at the end.
