So, I've watched the presentation for Microsoft and Ubisoft so far. Microsoft's Kinect did not wow me at all. I guess it is still pretty brand new, but the games they showcased for it did not impress me. I mean Kinectimals? Seriously? And, god I hate Peter Molyneux. He always always always over hypes Fable. Don't get me wrong, I like Fable. But, he is always talking about some "amazing" new features that aren't even implemented in the game.

I also was not terribly impressed with Ubisoft's presentation. Assassin's Creed Brotherhood seems like more of the same. The laser tag game presentation tried to make their game seem like more than just laser tag, but in reality, that's all it is...laser tag. And most of their other stuff looked just plain boring. However, I did like Shaun White's Skateboarding game. That looked kind of fun...

Microsoft's, EA's, and Ubisoft's Press Conferences were completely meh. Here's hoping that Sony and Nintendo wow me, but I kinda doubt it.

On another note, I am so excited for Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and the Mortal Kombat remakes as well as The Last Guardian.

Marvel vs Capcom 3 is going to use the controls from Tatsunoko vs Capcom I think it may also be 2v2 instead of 3v3.

The new Zelda seems very interesting with the whole forging of the Master Sword stuff. I wanna see what happens with the time line since this is taking place 100 years before Ocarina of Time.

Star Wars: The Old Republic needs to hurry up
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 looks extremely fucking badass. I just hope it has multiplayer which is the only thing the first game was lacking.

Not seeing a whole lot more that i'm interested in unfortunately. Lots of recycled or crappy shooters and basically a gloveless powerglove (kinekt). The 360 "slim" looks about the same size as the original but shinier and built-in wifi (which the wii and ps3 have had since .. forever). I guess they finally figured out that no one wants to pay 100 bucks for their crappy add-on wifi adapter. At least the new 360 has a lot of .. vents.. so it shouldn't over-heat. I just hope it wont fuck up $60 games if you breathe in it's general direction like the current one does.

Lots of "eh" and not enough "wow".

I never played TvC, what is the difference in controls from, say, MvC 2? Everything that I have read is that it is 3v3. I hope its 3v3

Here is a link saying 3v3 is confirmed:

Features
• Innovative graphics and gameplay bring the Marvel and Capcom Universes to life: Powered by an advanced version of MT Framework, the engine used in Resident Evil 5 and Lost Planet 2, now comes to Marvel vs. Capcom 3, bringing beautiful backgrounds and character animations to the forefront.
• Evolved VS. Fighting System: Wild over-the-top gameplay complete with signature aerial combos, hyper combos and other original systems. The evolved battle system takes the exciting mind-reading game to a whole new level!
• 3-on-3 Tag Team Fighting: Players build their own perfect team and use Assist Attacks and each character’s special moves to create their own unique fighting style.
• Living Comic Book Art Style: See the most adored characters from the Capcom and Marvel universes brought to life in a “moving comic” style, blurring the boundaries between 2D and 3D graphics.Of course we'll have more coming soon, and here are a few places you'll be able to find the good stuff:
The official website from the link appears to be down though so I could be wrong.

Edit: Also, yeah, I am completely underwhelmed by the Kinect.

The announcement that shocked me was the Goldeneye remake.
It looks pretty damn good, and fun. However, I hate that they are using Daniel Craig's likeness. Goldeneye will always Brosnan's Bond.

As for the rest, I haven't been too impressed yet. I hope the Valve "cancelled" presentation/surprise is something big.

You'll get Light/Medium/Heavy attack buttons and a fourth one for assists from the other characters you picked. There won't be Lpunch/Mpunch/Hpunch+Lkick/Mkick/Hkick. Its too simplified (probably to cater to Smash Brothers players). I may have missed an announcement saying otherwise, but last i heard this was the direction they were going.

You have obviously never played Smash Bros. Melee competitively. It's A LOT more than just direction + attack button or direction + special move button. Mastering the technical skills (teching, L-canceling, wavedashing, pivoting, chain grabs, each of the characters' individual tech skills, and many more that I cannot remember off the top of my head) takes a LONG time. Back when I played competitively, I still hadn't mastered all of them completely and that was over a year of playing it. Yeah, the basic controls are simple, but after that, you'll need months of practice to be any kind of decent at that game. (Smash 64 was the same way, but your statement holds true for Brawl.)

Here is a quick example of shit that takes months, if not years, to master.

If this releases with multiplayer similar to the Jedi Knight games it'll be hard to beat. I wanna be able to throw my lightsaber at someone while jumping 100 meters to a ledge that i pulled an enemy off of with the force so i have room to land catch my lightsaber and slice his nearby buddy in half like i could years and years ago.

I would love to keep this thread updated with every company, but the only ones I can watch are the big ones on the show floor. The G4 link in the OP has links to tons of trailers though. I just watched the Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions gameplay trailer, and it looked okay. It seems like more of the same old Spiderman game that we've all played, but I tend to enjoy those.

Also, the Goldeneye remake is a big meh to me. I loved the original and all, but I doubt this will be ground breaking like the original. And, if it's not a ground breaking FPS then it will likely be kind of boring. That and I really dislike all of the FPS's on the Wii. The controls are never right.

What I would very much like to hear about is the new Zelda, Metroid, Dead Rising 2, and Castlevania.

Here's some stuff I found on Zelda (even though it's live right now, I can't watch it because I'm at work). BREAKING NEWS: Latest Zelda Wii Rumors CONFIRMED - Zelda Informer - Zelda News, Walkthroughs, Guides, Articles, Videos, and More

Zelda Wii's official title is "The Legend of Zelda". There will be no subtitle.

The game tells a story several hundred years before Ocarina of Time.It also answers the question of how the Mastersword came into being.

The fairy-like girl plays is a very important character in the game. Her Name is Zordiana.

The Hookshot is also in the game and it has new abilities. It will not pull you immediately to the target you aimed. Now it is possible to swing with the Hookshot, like with the Grappling Hook from WW. The Hookshot makes no use of Wii Motion Plus.

Sometimes you have to "draw" a specific symbol on a door with your sword, to open it.

The Bow-Control is very similar to the Bow-Control in Wii Sports Resort, as the script shows.

There are two levels of difficulty. Aonuma put it through. Miyamoto didn't want to include it.The Normal-Mode for amateurs. The Hero-Mode has no "Super Guide" included and the enemies tougher.

The On-Stage Dungeon, which is also playable at E3, isn't a Dungeon as we know it from the Zelda series. When entering a Dungeon, you will not notice you are in one. It will be a smooth graduation. There will be Dungeons with no Bosses and Bosses with no Dungeon. The "Dungeon" you are able to play at E3 will be an Ice-Level. It will be the frist "Dungeon" in the Game.

So, I went home for lunch and checked out part of the Nintendo demo. I really liked the Zelda showcase. Yeah, the controls sucked on stage, but after it all gets flushed out, I think it would be really fun. I like the 1:1 idea (I wish they would do one for lightsabers....that's actually good). And, I liked their implementations for the other items like the bombs and the bow. Also, it is titled The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.

They also unveiled a new Kirby and Donkey Kong Country game which is awesome. Both are still 2D platformers, but I'm still excited to try them out. Especially Kirby's new gameplay style.

I guess you left before they introduced the new 3DS. As thename suggests the top screen is in 3D. And guess what game they released exclusively to the new 3DS.. a brand new Kid Icarus. Its neat and all but c'mon.. buy the DS.. now buy the new DS lite!.. oh wait here comes the DSi!.. and a few months later the brand new even bigger than before DSiXL!.. Think you're done buying DS'? Fuck no here comes the 3DS. If you wanna play kid icarus you're gonna have to ya doidy lil fuqs! And you KNOW that once you've purchased your new 3DS and have installed all your nice games to it .. 3DSXL? (where you'll have to once again purchase all those games you downloaded because they are not transferrable)

That control fuqup on stage was a bit lame. I was wondering why link was holding his sword in all these queer ways, thinking maybe it WAS those messed up controls but they made him look like that on purpose so he can hold his sword skyward He looks like a retard wavin that thing around and holding it a mile from his body when running around.
I really miss the days when you could play a game with a controller and not have to flail around like a moron to do every simple little thing. Or doodle on a touch screen. Just because you CAN do things doesn't mean you should or have to, Nintendo!

Yeah, I didn't catch any of the 3DS stuff except for like the first minute or so. But, I really don't have too much interest in hand helds anyways. Unless there's some absolutely amazing game on there that I MUST HAVE, then I don't plan on purchasing one.

IGN reported that the controls for Zelda are actually fantastic...better than Red Steel 2. It really could have been some shitty interference on stage.

On one hand, I agree with you that they could have just used regular controls and tried to change the game in some other way, but on the other hand, I've been looking forward to a good game that can make use of good 1:1 controls like this. Whether or not this game will actually be any good remains to be seen, but at least I can see these controls for a series that I generally tend to like and am accustomed to.

Twisted Metal looks like it'll be really fun. I may have to actually buy a car game hmm...

Medal of Honor, of course, will be great. Its basically MW2 with destructible environments like out of Battlefield Bad Company. I kinda like how the battlefield team went with the MW quicktwitch as opposed to the slightly slower pacedness of Bad Company for this game.

Infamous 2 maybe good, the first one wasn't bad.

Playstation Wiimo.. err.. Move.. old news i guess. Not really doing anything new with that thing.

Playstation Plus was a bit confusing. He really seemed to stress the "own for the life of your subscription" thing. Kinda odd how they flat out diss 360 for their pay service, sayin how the PS3 does it all for free and in the same breath introduce their own pay service. *shrugs*

The little "gamer" skit was pretty amusing.

I haven't heard anything about APB lately. It's being released at the end of the month. I could see this appealing to a lot of people. I wonder if it will differ greatly from other MMOs and if it will offer anything new in terms of gameplay dynamics. It's like a GTA MMO.

I know it's pretty much inspired by GTA, but the thought of human players vs. human players reminds me of Car Wars.

Good God that Kinect skit with the asian girl and tiger was downright cringe worthy. The presenter was god awful and the whole thing was so scripted. Stop Skittles, that tickles!!!!! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

As much as I've mostly ignored the E3 expo for the past several years (or more exactly, as little I really paid close attention to it) I do find myself geetting back into the habit of following the rolling updates for this year's convention. I've come across and invested about 2 hours worth of article/blog reading this week alone, and while I still don't have many definitive talking points, (nor can I remember which blogs I actually read) I just wanted to drop in and post this:

(as you may have guessed, I'm big proponent towards retro-side-scrollers / fight 'em up games.)

Yeah, the whole thing was so stupid. What a waste of such cool technology. "Hey, we've made this awesome new way to play games using camera only. You don't need controllers anymore! Our first game? It's this game where you can pet a tiger cub. That's it. I guess he does a few tricks. Why don't you come spend $200+ on this game and Kinect instead of adopting your own real pet and building an actual relationship with it?"

This is actually my first year keeping up with E3 too. I guess this summer has been extremely boring and depressing, so I've needed something to waste my time on. At least it's pretty easy for me to talk about this year's expo since most of it has been pretty shitty. Honestly, between the crappy games for Kinect, the super advanced features called "buttons" on the Move, and the same CoD, MoH, and whatever FPS's that come out every 6 months, there really hasn't been anything that has actually wowed me. It just feels like most everything is more of the same.

Having said that, I admit I am very interested in the coop feature for Portal 2....

It's interesting because people say "all you have to do is switch it." But in reality, it's really hard. You have to change all the models -- you have to make two of everything. So really you're making two complete games, one left-handed version and one right-handed version. We just can't do that. For Twilight Princess, what we did was just create a mirror -- we flipped everything. And if that worked I guess we could do it that way, but again having to create two games is not something we want to do. We just hope that people will play it right-handed.
Left handers are screwed.

Konami's conference was god damn awful. A couple of the games looked cool, but those people presenting sounded like idiots/jackasses...

Looking at a few of the titles coming out, I'm excited for a few... I really got intensely into the Valkrie Chronicles when it first came out but I'm interested to see how they turned a second one out of the first one, or if it'll be a totally different story. Also, FEAR 3? I was disappointed in the second one, but hopefully they went back to the drawing board with the third. And FFXIV... 13 sucked... 14 better be something worth buying... and they got balls (rumoured) making another god of war, I thought the trilogy was definately wrapped up well....
