My problem is doing well on the wrong team. I always get stuck with the people who don't know a grenade from a hole in their ass. My K/D and W/L make that pretty obvious.

crap, I'm gonna have to go hide in a corner for a whole game and cheese up my average
Don't be intimidated by my score or playtime or anything. I've been gaming since I could move my thumbs and started on the atari 2600, and I'm not working or anything so my free time tends to be spent in all sorts of odd ways. Last edited by Shauk; 03-18-2010 at 10:18 AM.. |

Yea - I envy it, but am not intimidated. I've also been gaming since the 2600, but work 60 hour weeks and have a live-in full-time girlfriend.

Yeah working 40 hours a week and being married = playing a few times a week for an hour at a time. In college and before I got my current job I would play 10 hours of Battlefield in 1 day.

Wow I've been owning face tonight. I just experienced my first crash to desktop though. I was like 20-3 K/D with tons of points as medic in my squad and right before we blew up the last MCOMM station it CTD'ed. FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

I have the same problem as Jinn. I always get on the fail team. Every now and then I'll get on a team that just "gets it," and we push comm stations relentlessly until they're down. Then sometimes your team never even makes it to the comm stations the whole match, never even setting 1 charge.
I think 1 single squad can change the outcome of this game and whichever team has the teamwork squad is the team that wins.

Yeah now that i've been playing a medic for the last couple of hours, I'm really starting to see why they attract the noobs. You can rock a pisspoor 0/10 ratio and still top the scoreboard, but with a freaking gun that has 200 rounds before reloading, it's amazing that you wouldn't be able to mow people down.
I pop the ammo upgrade and a scope and it's STUPID easy to rack up kills as long as you're not a piss poor aim and you're facing the right direction. Ran in to a hacker last night with a 64/3 k/d and people just yelled at him and told him to gtfo while he denied it. Yet I personally watched him spinning 180 degrees instantly and taking out people in quick succession behind cover (myself included) it almost makes me want to invest 100$ in to a usb/software solution to play on the ps3 with my mouse/keyboard since I still suck with the controller. I just don't feel the precision I want is offered with the analog controls. I couldn't find a way to change teams on the console, seems like the only way to get on the winning side is to sit on that team until enough players rotate out that the law of averages falls in your favor. On pc it's just as easy as automatically switching as soon as you join, people don't notice. It's cheap, but no sense in saddling yourself with a bunch of failures who don't even know how to spot. (seriously it's a free 20 points, just freaking do it) Last edited by Shauk; 03-19-2010 at 10:35 AM.. |

They really need to improve auto team balancing, stacking the teams just exacerbates the problem and makes every game boringly one-sided.
They seem to have went a bit far in tweaking the dispersion to make the game less of a twitch shooter. They also really screwed up pilot controls/sensitivity; I suppose in an attempt to make it fit with the arcade-style of the rest of the game. It is just funny how it didn't work and every noob crash lands within seconds. At least the maps are just big enough to flank in and the destructible environment redeems most of the disturbing features. I just hope the only new maps we see won't be limited to DLC. What are some of the crazy exploits you know about? The C4-laden UAV sneak attack probably takes the cake. Anyone else only play engineer? I haven't even touched the other classes. |

Engineer is the most disappointing class to me.
Not my playstyle at all, and it took for freaking ever to unlock all the engineer guns, which are really not all that interesting. They're all just silenced, low accuracy, high fire rate, medium damage spray guns. Not exactly my choice for going in to squad combat. Last edited by Shauk; 03-19-2010 at 11:52 AM.. |

Not a fan of when they guide it through a window of a building i'm squatting in. 40mm grenades are too powerful, should take 2 to take down a wall, not just one, esp when they can camp on their own ammo box. Shotgun range seems a little long, I had some medic on top of the lumber mill of some map pop me all the way down on the road leading to the train depot (the other conquest point being the farm) Something seems wrong about that... being sniped with a shotgun. |

After playing multiplayer, I'm addicting to this game. It was a little rough starting out with the crappy starting weapons. But wow this game has been fun. The sounds are still lacking in my opinion but it may be an issue with my computer and not the game.
Anyone else having sound issues? The sounds are just flat to me and the explosion effects don't sound right at all. |

Sounds are not spectacular, you may want to bump up the quality, it starts on medium by default. I think it's only in changed in your config file BTW.
Last night, on one server I was playing, I saw over 30 PB Bans for aimbot in a matter of hours. I don't know if the server was goofing up or hacking is way more common than I thought. |

yeah I've seen some crazy like 138/5 dude or something the other day, people were yelling at him hardcore.
was kinda hilarious, I just went and found another server though, no reason to stick around and nerd rage when the solution is clear. |

Are all servers reporting PB as off? I have yet to log into a server that has PB set to on in the description. Not that PB is perfect, but it would be nice to know not everyone on a server is hacking except me.

I'm not kidding, taking m60's away from the other team is a higher priority than reviving people, I guarantee you that gun's getting beat with the nerf stick. Everything else tops out around 16 damage, even the assault's guns, this thing bottoms out at 20 and is 25 at most ranges, with accuracy and speed better than the semi-automatic sniper rifles. Quote:
The real trick to engineer is to bind spot to a mouse button you don't use and keep spotting every vehicle possible. Especially if you barnacle onto a vehicle. An engineer topgunning for a tank is horrible. They trade shots, he pops out and fires an RPG or CG, then repairs, and then hops right back in again. You also need to think of your RPG as your primary weapon, the Carl Gustav as a long-range or anti-infantry/air/unarmored variant, and your SMG as an emergency weapon. Always go for perpendicular shots, and the damage model is very detailed so anywhere that looks like it would hurt more on a real tank probably would. Hatches, engines, treads (first wheel esp), all can easily knock half of something's life off on the first hit. You're either a sniper or a ninja that uses explosives, and happens to have an SMG. Not an assault with a silencer and a backup rocket launcher. And yeah the Carl Gustav rocks, it's got a very flat trajectory and very fast projectile. It's less effective against vehicles than the RPG but easier to use. Quote:
Engineer: AKS-74u, [RPG/Gustav], drill, [2x rockets/2x dmg], Accuracy Medic: M60, medkit, defib, sight or scope, and either magnum ammo or accuracy. Doesn't matter, the m60 right now is just gamebreakingly good. Recon: GOL Magnum, motions, mortar, Scope of your choice, damage or spotter scope.

I don't feel like the M60 is as OP as people say. I think the medic class in general is pretty damn strong. There's very few moments when I die and I think "fucking M60."
Though it is funny how in Battlefield Vietnam, at launch the M60 with med kit and LAW rocket launcher was absolutely game breakingly OP. Now THAT M60 was fucking OP.

I have major respect for people who play that well with a controller. dude is pro beyond pro, I can't imagine touching his k/d ratio. I'd suspect him of cheating if it wasn't for the video. <--- |

Just like the 1911 is basically a Better Shotgun since you can kill people faster and with more accuracy and reliability with it than you can with a Saiga.

I'm not arguing that it's not OP. If you read above, I said I don't think it's AS OP as people say it is. Yes it is very obviously better if you look at the stats but I don't think it breaks the game as some claim.

I wish I had the capability of recording. That one match I went 20-3 as Medic was as entertaining as that video. PC players are so much better because of the mouse aiming that kill streaks like that don't happen as often as they should. That's one thing that sorta hurts the PC version. Everyone is so damn good that you can go a long time without cool stuff like 5-6 kill streaks happening.

Yeah that was good shit. I agree with you though, there needs to be some sort of "monster kill" notification in this game. You can kill 3-4 people and no one notices. Last night my brother dropped in and got like 4-5 people and I thought he was hiding. What happened to BF2's squad kill notification? That's a nice feature that's oddly missing.

hrm, well I haven't been fortunate enough to get on a conquest arica harbor map but I have landed in a few rush laguna presa maps.
I must say I was surpsised at just how non recycled it felt. It feels much much bigger than the conquest version. Conquest maps as a whole, and as a mode, are starting to feel second-rate to the rush mode of this game. If feels much more evolving as the match goes on, where conquest just tends to feel like "oh fuck me, i'm trying to hold a point with next to no cover." by the time 15 minutes has gone by and buildings are reduced to nothing. Laguna Presa Rush is a badass map though. |
