Looking for ideas for a Star Wars RPG campaighn. KOTOR and Firefly fans welcome.
Hi guys. I'm strongly considering running a Star Wars d20 RPG with some friends of mine in Pasadena, and was wondering if you guys could help out by mentioning some ideas for plots, character backgrounds, interesting planets, story ideas from books, comics and/or the KOTOR games.
I was considering having the game take place several hundred years before Episode I, The Phantom Menace. Back in a time when both the Jedi and the Sith were many. The feel that I'm going for is that the group will (eventualy) have a ship, and take up jobs here and there, while evading the Republic (or local crime lords) in a fashion similar to the Firefly TV series by Joss Whedon. For those of you familar with the Star Wars RPG (Saga edition), I'm not looking for rules idea just yet. Just plot, story, villians and henchmen, etc. And may the Force be with you

I'm currently involved in a campaign. It's only been going on for about a month, and we only get to play once a week if we're lucky, so it's not that far along yet.
I'm playing a Jawa bounty hunter/ aspiring force user. Yes, we bend rules to have more fun. Ha. It's set in the time of the empire. You could definitely pull some good ideas from KOTOR if your game is set in old republic times. Maybe some spin-offs of the story line in that, characters that bring some familiarity to the game, ships and gear that are appropriate from that era, etc. I'm not too familiar with that era myself. In fact my knowledge of the Star Wars universe is pretty much limited to the movies. That's why I don't run Star Wars games, I just play. Best of luck to you though. Running a campaign in any RPG is no easy task. (I've been DMing DnD for years now.) My best advice is keep on your toes, and read aplenty.

I've got an idea for a character: The_Darth. He's a father of two kids who works in the medical industry, has two kids, and moderates an online forum. And he has a 4 sided saber.
Which period of time in the SW universe specifically will you be writing in? I mean the Sith were not common at all a few hundred years before Star Wars Episode 1. The Republic alone is nearly 25,000 years old by that time. What you might want to do is place it during the great war, the "Hundred-Year Darkness" which was a massive war between the Dark Jedi and Jedi. |
