bentonville, arkansas?
|
Tierra del Fuego?
|
no to both of those, but I admire the "bold" guesses.
disclaimer: nothing in the sentence above is intended to be a clue |
NH?

yes NH

WH?
|
yes WH
Once you home in on a more specific location, I'm in an unusual building that I hope you can guess. |
US?
|
located in a state bordering on an ocean?
|
Yes in the U.S. but not in a state bordering an ocean, or even a lake or major river.
|
holy roller, batman...
east of mrs. sippy? |
First, please allow me to retract part of what I said above. The state I'm in does border on water but the town in which this building stands is not on any coast.
Yes I'm east of mrs. sippy. |
Border on the Atlantic?
|
The state does not border the Atlantic....think lake.
|
Lake Michigan?
|
Nope...the state does not touch L. Michigan.
|
One of the other great lakes?
|
you in pa again?
|
yes one of the G. Lakes
but not in PA again. |
Superior?
|
Superior is an eerie guess, Tul. But not correct.
|
you could be in ohio...
|
Oh hi, unc. Why yes, I am in Ohio. Now find the building I'm in. Or first home in on the town. Clue:
|
Lake Erie?
|
man, you know how many municipalities in ohio start with "S?"
ok, sandusky? |
|
unc, I'm not sure why you said that about the "S"
Tul, on the other hand, cut right to the chase. You're getting good, Tul. Maybe too good. You're up next, bud. The Longaberger Company - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The Longaberger Company is an American manufacturer of handcrafted maple wood baskets and offers other home and lifestyle products, including pottery, wrought iron, fabric accessories and specialty foods. It is one of the primary employers in the southeastern Ohio area near Dresden, Ohio. Started in Dresden, the company is now headquartered in Newark, Ohio. A family-owned and operated business, the Longaberger Company was started by Dave Longaberger, and after his death is owned by daughters Tami Longaberger and Rachel Longaberger. Although Longaberger is a family-owned business, there are approximately 45,000 independent home consultants located in all U.S. states who sell Longaberger products directly to customers. The Longaberger corporate headquarters on State Route 16 is a local landmark and a well-known example of novelty architecture, since it takes the shape of their biggest seller, the "Medium Market Basket". Originally, Dave Longaberger wanted all of the Longaberger buildings to be shaped like baskets, but only the headquarters was completed by his death. After his death, further basket-shaped buildings were vetoed by his daughters. http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...ourCompany.gif http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...%20I/dream.gif http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...any_media2.gif Each basket is signed and dated by the maker and the company's stamp is placed on the bottom. http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...eadquarter.jpg |
Yeah that "S" comment kind of threw me. I'd heard of the huge basket building in Ohio before but got focused on the town having to start with an "S." I went back and read the clues instead of concentrating on the youtube video with the "lazy S Ranch" logo.
OK, guys- where am I? |
mexico?
never heard of the basket place... |
No not Mexico this time.

|
Up- No.
BN- No. |
are you south of Legazpi City?
|
Not sure how you did that, but I'm in Legazpi City. I'm going to assume you choose this city because it's the geographical center of the nation. If that's not your reasoning I'm running some spyware software on my system to see if I have a Trojan with Bad Nick in the file name.
I choose this city due to it's close proximity to the Mayon Volcano. It's a nearly perfectly formed cone and the most active volcano in the Philippines. Legazpi City http://www.filammillington.org/files...no05jpg_1_.jpg You're up Nick. Where ya gonna go? I don't know, but you'd better go before the volcano blows. |
Wow, Tul, that is somewhat eerie, or superior as you guessed a while back ;) Based on a couple of our previous adventures here I can see why you'd be doing that spyware/trojan scan.
But you're right, I just looked at a couple of Philippines maps and chose something centrally located to try to get a bearing of where you might be. Previous to that, I never even heard of Legazpi City. I've always been very interested in volcanoes, though the death and destruction they cause is a sad reality of our world. OK folks, where in the world am I this time? |

Seriously, couple good guesses. I've had a fascination of volcanoes since Mt St Helens blew. I was kid working at Wendy's burgers in Salem, Or. that morning. I was getting the salad bar set-up and the earth shook and what appeared to be a large mushroom cloud began to rise almost directly north. Another teenager working there started freaking out. She was certain the Russians had launched an attack ala "Red Dawn." After a while I began to think "Crap! maybe she's right." Then a guy came through the drive thru and said "So, Mt. St. Helen's huh?" Umm, yeah, that does make more sense. So for about 10-15 mins of my teenage life I thought WWIII had begun. I got laid that night so it all worked out fine. Back to the regularly scheduled game... NH? Speaking of games how was your evening? |
Yes NH.
For sure that Yap one freaked me out a bit! Especially the part about looking at the same job description for that diver job. Ahhh, the game: From work I got a couple tickets to the "club box" section which was a great view of the ice and we had our own bar in that box so I didn't get thirsty. So it was looking pretty dim most of the game. By the end of the 2nd period the Flyers were down 5 to 1, and more importantly the Flyers game was very sloppy and the Carolina Hurricanes seemed to be more in control of the flow of the game and obviously scoring much easier. Then the shit busted loose in the 3rd period and the Flyers tied the game, I could hardly believe they did it...partly being short-handed no less! Then they won the game in the overtime shootout....one on one against the goalie and the Flyers got 3 out of 3 to the Hurricanes 0 for 3. I had an extra tequila with selzer on ice and a slice of lemon to celebrate. Strange type of exciting ending, but as a Flyers fan I liked it. |

WH? The really odd thing about that job ad is it turns out they're not the same ads at all. Different dive shops completely. One was with "Beyond the Reef Diving" the other was with something like "Rize Diving." I can't remember which one I applied for, got a thanks but the positions been filled message about two days after I sent off my resume. Anyway I checked around and it seems there are nearly more dive shops on Yap then residents. How many people a year can this island get? Seems like a really out of the way place to attract a steady supply of tourists. But then again I'd go at the drop of a hat given the chance. Opps! Almost forgot. Sounds like the game and evening went well, glad you had a nice time. |

tweet tweet...you got me, unc. I am in the Canary Islands.
The Canary Islands, Coordinates: 28°06′N 15°24′W / 28.1, -15.4 are a Spanish archipelago. The archipelago consists of seven major islands, one minor island, and several small islets. They are of volcanic origin and can be found in the North Atlantic Ocean. These islands are located just off the coast of the north-western portion of the African continent/mainland, nearest the political divide of Morocco and Western Sahara. They form the autonomous community of the Canary Islands. The Canary Islands were formed by the Canary hotspot. The status of capital city is shared by the two cities of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The city of La Laguna in Tenerife (World Heritage Site) is the third city of the archipelago. Also the Teide is A World Heritage Site. http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...kjt/canary.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...ry-Islands.jpg The islands form the Macaronesia ecoregion with the Azores, Cape Verde, Madeira, and the Savage Isles. The archipelago consists of seven large and several smaller islands, all of which are volcanic in origin. The Teide volcano on Tenerife is the highest mountain in Spain, and the third largest volcano on Earth on a volcanic ocean island. All the islands except La Gomera have been active in the last million years; four of them (Lanzarote, Tenerife, La Palma and El Hierro) have historical records of eruptions since European discovery. The islands rise from Jurassic oceanic crust associated with the opening of the Atlantic. Underwater magmatism commenced during the Cretaceous, and reached the ocean's surface during the Miocene. The islands are considered as a distinct physiographic section of the Atlas Mountains province, which in turn is part of the larger African Alpine System division. According to the position of the islands with respect to the NE trade winds, the climate can be mild and wet or very dry. Several native species form laurisilva forests. |
