There are reservoirs and aqueducts involved so you guys are hot! Why not jump in and cool off.

In fact, the name of where I am is an aqueduct but not Croton. The one I'm at is superlative.

Sorry, Liv. That's not the one. Though the "Aqueduct" part is correct so you get partial credit and a gold star on your forehead

Thanks, amonkie. For a minute there I was losing my hope for huMANity when you stepped in to save the day.

Yes I am at the Delaware Aqueduct, the longest aqueduct in the world. And as you so astutely pointed out, it is also the longest underground tunnel in the world at 85 miles long (137 km) and 13.5 ft. wide (4.11 meters).

The Delaware Aqueduct carries approximately half of the New York City water supply of 1.3 billion US gallons per day.

This is sort of a strange, funny fact: the Delaware Aqueduct leaks up to 35 million gallons per day. But probably not so funny if the leaking is causing flooding of your home! http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/12/ny...eaky.html?_r=1 Maybe they should see if BP can help them plug up those leaks.

Delaware Aqueduct - this is the obligatory Wikipedia link ...hey, with the huge leaks, this one should be in Wikileaks!!!

Tully, TFP's most famous diver, might be able to help with this problem plus when he talks he'll sound even more like the chipmunks than usual Drying Out After a Month on Helium - Tully Mars please come help and make big bucks

Yes sir, I do believe that is the case. It also shows that on my map above. What part of the Delaware Aqueduct do you suspect is not in NY?

Here are some facts that seem to be corroborated in multiple sources I found:

"The Delaware Aqueduct takes water from the Rondout Reservoir through the Chelsea Pump Station, the West Branch Reservoir, and the Kensico Reservoir, ending at the Hillview Reservoir in Yonkers, New York."

And a bit more on the location of the Rondout Reservoir:

"Rondout Reservoir is part of New York City's water supply network. It is located 75 miles (120 km) northwest of the city in the Catskill Mountains, near the southern end of Catskill Park, split between the towns of Wawarsing in Ulster County and Neversink in Sullivan County. It is the central collection point for the city's Delaware System, which provides half its daily consumption."

I looked at the Delaware one but clues like-

Quote:
what did Dela wear? She wore a New Jersey.
Had me completely lost, just got caught up on New Jersey.

No matter, nice work Monkie.

I'll be gone for a few days of diving. And no Nick I'm not spending days in a chamber so I can I dive to 700ft. But I might change my mind if someone waved that pay check in my face. I'd bet those guy make in a month what I make in a year or two.

I shy away from anything close to "tech" diving. It's kind of becoming the in thing to do. More gear, mixed gases, more risks and the pay off is I went to 250ft! Woot! yeah not for me. Other then a few sharks and a couple other fish I see plenty at 80-140 ft.
