I'm north of Eugene.

Eugene's duck country and I'm a beaver fan personally.

Oregon, the Beaver State! Tul, are you north of Salem?

btw, thinking I might find a beaver shaped building or something like that, I searched "oregon beaver" and you'd be surprised...or maybe not... at why they call Oregon the beaver state.

If you searched "Beaver Oregon" you likely found the town I moved to shortly after leaving the service. One flashing yellow light and a pop of less then 200. I was on the Nestucca Rural Volunteer Fire Dept. there as a fireman and EMT while I lived there. Still have a coast and hat that read "Beaver Fire Dept."

Yes, I'm north of Salem.

You mean like a government building? No, not in any house either. Though my dad spent most of his adult life working in the Oregon State Capitol Building.

Do you mean Route 5?-

Or I-5?-

I-5's highlighted in red.

Either way, doesn't matter, I'm west.

I meant I-5...I even wrote I-5 and then changed it to Rt. 5 not knowing there was also a state rt. 5. So is it possible to be at the intersection of 5 & 5? <<<< that's not my game question!

I've searched quite a bit but still can't find an "interesting" building you might be in that is a few miles from a town. I can only narrow down the area:

Are you south of Rt. 26?

I am south of Route 26, which the by as it leaves Portland and goes through Beaverton is also known to the locals as "The Sunset." Many people will tell you it gets that name because people commuting home out of Portland on it are looking west and at the sunset. Plaques at several points along the way will tell you it's actually named for the US 41st Infantry Division which had many Oregon members during WWII. It's construction first started in 1941 by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1st. depression and was completely shortly after the end of WWII.

Mainly I'm telling you this because my uncle went from unemployed to employed because of the CCC and worked on this highway. But you could make a WWII connection to the building I'm in even though it was built more recently.

BTW- you guys better find me today I'm going diving tomorrow, back to Mahahual for a few days then back to Merida for Carnival then I'm off to Belize. Once I get to Belize I should have the Net again but that's going to be a week and half at least.

Are you at the Tillamook Air Museum? ...if not, maybe I should be living in Idiotville, Oregon

Even though I have my doubts that you're here since the building is not really "recent", I'll post it anyway since it looks like a pretty cool museum: Tillamook Air Museum

There are a bunch of cool airplanes at the museum:
1938 Bellanca Air Cruiser
P-38 Lightning
PBY-5A Catalina
F4U-7 Corsair
TBM Avenger
SBD Dauntless
L-29 Delphin
A-26 Douglas Invader
J2F-6 Duck
PV-2 Harpoon
AM-1 Martin Mauler
Bf-109 Messerschmitt
P-51 Mustang
P2V-7 Neptune
C-47 Skytrain
AD-4W Skyraider
ERCO ERCOUPE 415-C
PT-17 Stearman
Boeing 377 Stratocruiser (Mini-Guppy)
T-6 Texan
FM-2 Wildcat
F-14A Tomcat
A-7 Corsair II
A-4B Skyhawk
Fairchild GK-1
Kaman HTK -1 Helicopter
Nord 1101
Bell Helicopter
Cessna 180
Chris-Teena Mini-Coupe
Alien Blimp
Quickie homebuilt
Ki-43 Oscar
Mikoyan-Gurevich Mig 17/Lim-6

See one of America's finest collections of over 30 War Birds including our P-38 Lightning, F4U-Corsair, P51-Mustang, PBY Catalina and SBD Dauntless dive bomber. Climb into a jet simulator! Explore our exhibit hall that features rare historical wartime and aviation artifacts including pieces of the great German airship the Hindenburg and a WWII Luftwaffe flight jacket. Have lunch at our 40/50's Café. Enjoy shopping in our aviation gift shop. All housed in a rare World War II Blimp Hangar...the largest wooden structure in the world!

Length: 1,072 feet
Height: 192 feet
(over 15 stories)
Width: 296 feet
Area: Over 7 acres
(enough to play six football games)
Doors: 120 ft. high,
6 sections each weighing 30 tons.
220 ft. wide opening. The sections roll on railroad tracks
Catwalks: 2 catwalks, each 137 ft. above the hangar deck

In 1942, the U.S. Navy began construction of 17 wooden hangars to house the K-class blimps being used for anti-submarine coast patrol and convoy escort. Two of these hangars were built at the Naval Air Station Tilllamook, commissioned in December 1942 to serve the Oregon-Washington coastal area.

Construction of the two hangars was rushed to completion. Hangar "B" was the first one built and was completed in the spring of 1943. Hangar "A" which was destroyed in a 1992 fire, was completed in only 30 days. Amazingly, there were no serious injuries or deaths on the whole project.

Stationed at NAS Tillamook was Squadron ZP-33 with a complement of eight K-ships. The K-ships were 252 feet long and filled with 425,000 cu. ft. of helium. With a range of 2,000 miles and an ability to stay aloft for three days, they were well suited for coast patrol and convoy escort. Naval Air Station Tillamook was decommissioned in 1948.

Since 1994 the remaining hangar has been home to one of the top five privately owned aircraft collections in the nation.

No, but that's the blimp hanger where I used to work next door. I couldn't remember when they turned it into a museum. I do know it was long after I became a PO and had my office at the court house. I have flown into that airport and parked my plane right in front to those huge doors.

I'll also say while I'm not there you're on the right track.

There isn't an airfield here... which is very, very odd. There's one real close, but not exactly here.

I DID! Gez, my bad. I forgot all about her being there. Maybe we are running out of places to hide. I was going to go to the Tillamook one until I posted that pic.

Well you found me, you're up.

I'll be gone for a few days. I'll abide whatever punishment the group decides for double back tracking if that's not allowed.

Off to pick up friends at the airport.

Go hide Nick

No, I'm not in Belize right now. I will be in a few weeks or a month or so. I was planing on being there starting March 1st but my place to stay fell through. I wanted to finish my dive master course there. Looks like I'm going to be finishing it in Akumal which is where I was today. I'm diving Akumal and staying Playa (del Carmen.) Playa has more lodging choices.

Hmm, pictures. I only brought my underwater camera and I'm still working out the kinks (AKA can't figure it out yet) Here's a few I took when I was on my way through here to meet up with Phil a few weeks back.

Here's where I'm staying-

Everythings falling apart and the door doesn't always lock. But it's got a view of the Caribbean, it's about $40 a night and it's next door to my favorite bar in Playa, Dave's Bad Boy's Bar (no, I didn't name it) Here's a view from the bar "swing"-

And lastly here's a tall ship that showed up the morning I left last time. I have no idea what it is or where it's headed-

So, not in a state but in the states? Are you a river or bay that is in more then one state?
