Yes.

Here's the view, roughly:

This beach is the setting for the opening of one Natsume Soseki's novels. It's also a popular movie location.

Bad Nick, you still have a chance. Kukjukurihama - 92. There are 3 beaches in Kamakura. This is the one in all the movie shots -- and also this Hiroshige print:

Here's the view in bad weather:

You're not a Navy guy are you Guyy? I spent nearly 6mos. in Yokosuka. Non duty days were often spent on beaches at Kamakura and nights were almost always in the bars with the "Yokohama Mama's."

No. I lived on that hill on the right hand side of the Hiroshige print as a kid. I also spent a few years in Zushi, which i'm sure you know, and a few in Yokohama as well. In Zushi i was right near the beach, a few hundred metres. I think the angle of the Hokusai print really puts you off Zushi or Hayama. Not that it's super realistic anyway. As you know, you can only see Fuji on a clear winter day, or maybe on a windy summer day when the wind blows the haze off the bay.

Are you in the Northern hemisphere?

Honestly no I don't remember Zushi. I remember there being a large Buddha in the area, somewhere up on a hill. It was huge. I remember taking the JR line just about everywhere. I remember getting lost if we ended up on another line. Also buying whiskey (and porn complete with black dots covering all the "good" spots) out of vending machines on the street. Oh, and of course the Circus Circus Club in Yokohama. It was a while ago, mid 80's. My memory isn't crystal clear. In fact when you posted there are three beaches at Kamakura my first thought was "BS, I've been there." Once I googled it I found out you obviously know more about the area then I do. But I do remember the beach(es) being either very nice or damn freaking cold. On warm days the beach would be full and the young girls would try to speak to us in broken English. These conversations almost always ended with the girls giggling wildly and running back to their friends.

No, southern hemisphere.

So, southwestren hemisphere.

You mean this guy, i think.

He was down the hill from us. Maybe you wouldn't know Zushi, which is right next to Kamakura. Most of it is around the point from Zaimokuza/Yuigahama. There was a US Navy presence there in the eighties, but it wasn't so large then.

Do they speak Spanish where you are?

I'm sure that's him. I have problems remembering some things, like the number of beaches a town might have. Partly because it was 20+ years ago, partly due to the amount of alcohol the average sailor drinks and in part due to the number of places I visited in a short period of time. For example my ship spent nearly six months docked at Yokosuka doing repairs on the USS Ranger. About half way through our six month stay we took a cruise to some island for two weeks of liberty. I had a great time but have no idea what was the name of that island.

Yes, Spanish is the official language where I am.

The other possibility is that it was Kannon in Ofuna (near the Shochiku movie studio), but you wouldn't see that on the way in from Yokosuka. She's definitely up on a hill, whereas the Daibutsu in Hase is in a valley. In fact, i think he's been knocked off his base once or twice by tsunami.

Since my daughter's middle name is Magda, I'll guess Magdalena National Park?

And much to Tully's liking, he can sniff all those sulfurous fumes from the Mentolat volcano there.

Took ya three tries but yes I am indeed on Tenglo Island.

I was supposed to go there last summer but the guys on Wall St. decided I didn't need to see the place.
