This happened a few years back when the broadcasters increased the length of their "season" to 36 weeks but didn't increase the number of episodes they ordered from the studios...
It created a shortfall of episodes BUT allowed them to milk the season for more ad revenue. |
FUCK! Fuck I hate ABC. I recorded Lost, stopped the tape at 9:01 cause I know they've been runing late. And I still missed the end!
Damnit. |
You didn't miss much. BUt in the future set your VCR to record 5-7 minutes late just to be on the safe side.

Did Sawyer tell Jack that he knew his father?
I figure not, cause he's an asshole... |

Sawyer is undergoing some personal revelations as a result of his being "lost" on this island. (As are the other characters as well) Sawyer's revelations are much more interesting to me though.
|
Spoiler: So was the guy Sawyer killed the real Sawyer, or did he make a mistake?
I'm afraid I didn't understand that part just before he died. |

At least, I think he was.... By the way, this weeks episode was pretty good. Of course, I'm a Sawyer fan. He may be an asshole, but he's my kind of asshole. I don't think he withheld the information from Jack because he was hoarding information. I think he was still trying to put all the pieces together when the show ended. I also think that, while Sawyer may not agree and continue to piss Jack off, at least he has a better understanding of why Jack does what Jack does. |
pretty good episode... it was interesting to see more about sawyer...
|
Thanks guys. :) Now I understand what the shrimp guy meant about "it coming back around" to Sawyer.
|
Every one seems to be connected on that island. Hopefully they will explore that more.

What the fuck was Hurley doing on that Chinese TV show? When Jin came into the secretary's house, he passed by the tv and Hurley was on it. I assume that's going to be explained later...right?
|
Hurley is awesome. The Best. I totally missed him on the TV though. Damnit.
At the end of the show when the music stopped I was all What the Fuck? Then Hurley did the same. Awesome. That episode was incredible. |

ya'll are way too observant. if something ever happens to me in public, i hope ya'll are around to describe who did what to me :)
the music thing hacked me off as well, i didn't know what to think. i got a big laugh out of that. good show. |
I was watching that with my sister and I noticed Hurley on TV as well. That's got to be explained some how. It'll probably be comical as they haven't developed Hurley's backstory yet and he's the only major character on the show that hasn't had their past explored yet. Can't wait for that one.
Now the boat fire. I knew Walt did it however I'm wondering "how" he did it. Did he torch it with some flames or did he imagine it and it went up via mental powers? And I feel so bad for Jin. I was thinking he was a giant a-hole but he's a man of purpose and dedication. I think I might have a new favorite now because he's truly alone and isolated on that island. He can't communicate with anybody really. His wife betrayed his trust. Poor bastard. But good episode and can't wait for the island war to pick up a bit. |
Great episode.
Did you see when Hurley was leaning back on the beach and in the background you see Claire & Charlie reclining, as well? When Hurley looks over at Claire's pregnant belly and then looked down at his own fat belly? Well, at first I laughed, but then I started questioning if there were some hidden meaning in the look, or if it was just one of those funny little insignificant scenes peppered throughout the series? What do you guys think? Just a scene for a chuckle, or one to make you go, "Hmmm."? |
I've learned in theatre that everything is in there for a reason. I see the same in "Lost." Every line, every scene, and every look has a significant meaning..... I wish that I had recorded all of the episodes so I could watch them again since I know so much more about the characters now. I also think there is something very significant about the golf course and playing golf. I've really been pondering that.

He was still in Australia.. just a Korean channel/news program. It did look like a today-tonight/a current affair (for the aussies) type program that was chasing him. I can't wait to learn his back-story. |
|
Thanks, Booray!
I cannot wait for the DVD. I'm hoping that they pump that baby out before Season 2 starts. Hurley = Most awesome person on this show. |
I liked last nights episode as well. Very good. I didn't suspect Walt as the pyro, but I should have. I loved seeing Sun in that bathing suit. Humina!
Next weeks episode looks awesome. Can NOT wait. |
I thought Walt all along. Poor kid, always been uprooted, and he's having a good time on the island.
Well, apart from that whole polar bear thing. |

His lines are all said spot on. His comedic timing is brilliant. |
I've read a little bit of spoiler info on Hurley's background on another message board (which also includes a translation of the Koren subtitles on the TV screen), but I'm hesitant to even post it with spoiler tags because it's too easy to just highlight it and read it and I think everything I've read will be revealed in next week's episode.
|
I've heard rumbles that Hurleys backstory is pretty awesome, but I don't want to know. It's up to you, Booray, if you want to post it with tags or not.
|
I thought Hurley said "Son of a bitch." when the batteries died. I thought it was hilarious. The way he said it was perfect.

yah good ep last night...
i missed hurley being on the tv in the background... but im gonna be rewatching the episode with a buddy who missed it so i'll have to look again... and at the end when hurley was listening to the music i turned to my friend and asked her how the hell his batteries could still be going... and bam the music stopped... pretty funny... |
This is one of those TV show's i'll actually by the DVD of when it comes out.. next weeks episode looks incredible.
|
i thought the music was just the show's music as it closed out. this was one of the few episodes where it ended w/o suspense.
|
I just got around to watching the last two episodes, and they were pretty damn great. Especially last week's episode.
Pretty much all the points I wanted to bring up have been said, but I did have one question. Was the scene where Jin is cleaning the blood off his hands in the bathroom taken from the earlier episode of Sun's backstory? Cause I was getting some mad Deja Vu there. |

But...when shown from his perspective, it shows him in a more sympathetic light. Making you go, "This guy isn't bad at all." Man, I love this show. |
Here's how I watched "In Translation"
Beginning: Sun in tiny blue bikini. Middle: blah blah Jin is an enforcer, Hurley on Korean tv, raft burns, blah blah blah. End: Sun in tiny blue bikini. My thoery on Hurley is that he's a master Starcraft player and won some big tournament. Starcraft, at least a few years ago, used to be a national obsession in South Korea. Hurley has said he's known as a warrior in some places, which would fit here. Did anybody else understand the "Deliver him the message that I am not pleased" to mean "Give him a beating?" Clearly that was what was meant, and the guy who got beaten expected something similar, but I was with Jin--it seemed to me to mean deliver a verbal warning. |

I hope that's the case. |

I was sitting there, watching him listen to it and went, "C'mon, his batteries've gotta give out sometime soon. They've been there long enough..." And as I finished the thought, the music cut out. Between the writing and my call I was laughing for a full 5 minutes after. And I caught Hurley in the background too, tried pointing it out to my friend (by which time he was gone), and got accused of just looking for things to be weird now. Thanks for making it clear that I'm not losing my mind to Lost. At least, not yet... |
LockJaw: That's kinda what I was thinking, too, Jin didn't understand that he was supposed to strong arm the guy because he was at the point just a decent, hard working guy. What I was asking was whether anyone else picked up on the real meaning before Sun's dad chewed out Jin. I was completely snowed.
It's getting close to the end of season one, and I'm getting nervous. Now that the show's been picked up for season two, I hope they aren't going to alter the show to drag out the mysteries. They've done a fantastic job so far of interweaving the various stories such that new revelations are constantly shedding light on old assumptions, but I get the feeling that this is because the show was concieved as a single season whole unit. If so, I'd much rather they didn't mess with the intended ending just to milk some more time out of the show. One great season with a top-notch ending would be better than a second mediocre season. And I love Hurley also. |
