I saw it on Saturday. It IS a bad movie, and I wanted to hate it, but I couldn't. I accept it, even though it was stupid as hell and illogical. I was entertained, but it really could have used more action. There was too much buildup, and they kill off two of the Predators ridiculously fast. Also, where the hell did all the aliens come from? At most, there could only have been ten drones, but there were more than that.

Spoiler: Am I the only one who saw her walking towards the last tractor? With the lights still running to suggest that it was working? She made it back to the ship.
Could have been done a lot better. I love the predators... the ending was fine, the beginning was decent (normal for this genre) and the middle was absolutely awful. PG-13 is a disaster for a movie like this. Fans of this kind of movie want to see violence ... we got none. |

On the subject of violence, Jaws was rated PG, yet it was more bloody and violent than this movie. People that complain that our movies are more violent today need a reality check. The hayday of movie violence was the 70s and 80s when people were testing conventions and pushing boundries.

I heard there was a new one planned in this "neophyte genre"... Mixelplix vs. Oscar the Grouch... who gives a shit. I agree this genre of movies is a thinly veiled effort to eek out some money from very very poor premises/plots. I anticipate this movie bombing.

Worst movie I've seen all year. This was pure big action, zero plot hollywood crap. You could tell no research was put into the characters, location, or even the earlier alien or predator movies. The audience if force fed rediculous characters that figure out way too much way too easily. Plus, with horrid lines like "My enemies enemy...is my friend" I wanted to puke.
This movie was blasphemy to two of movies greatest sci-fi action/horror franchises and everyone that was involved with this movie should be round up and shipped to some remote island where they can never taint the motion picture industry again.

Just got back.
Damn good movie. Anderson did a good job. Did anyone notice Spoiler: when Weyland was looking at his computer screen, he took his pen and stabbed it between his fingers?

whatever one may think of the movie, note that they made a point to address the point brought up in kadaths spoiler message regarding the heroine at the end of the movie- cause at that point she has ready transportation right freaking next to her

Alien vs. Predator blew big donkey balls.
Just a crappy mish-mash movie to suck your money out of you pocket. Spoiler: The plot was the worst thing about the movie. I mean, some might not notice it as movie is only about 60 minutes long, but c'mon. An Aztec/Cambodian/Egyptian pyramid under Antartica? WTF? Antartica was never populated by anyone and was frozen for centuries before humans were around. Ancient maps that showed in unfrozen are from dinosaur days. If the pyramid was around before the other 3, why would the other pyramids be less advanced? Why would there be no mention of Aliens or Predators in them? The scientists have to be the stupidest scientists ever. Hmm.. I put in today's date to unlock the combination, exactly 100 years after those other people mysteriously disapeared. *shrug* Oh well. Wouldn't proper scientists stop and catalog everything before continuing? And not go forward in case they ruin or contaminate the site? I like how they make a big show out of how the Alien blood is acid, but then the main character is able to carry the Alien skull like a shield. Odd. Speaking of the main character, what was her name again? Hell, besides Wexler and Sebastien, I don't remember anybody's names. Sad. Remember in Predator 2, Gary Busey knows all about the Predator, how his technology works, how to trap him, etc.. How come none of that is continued in Alien vs. Predator? Couldn't Wexler, with all his power and money, answer what's-her-face's question with "Yes, I know what they are, that's why all my men have semi-automatic weapons with laser sights"? Sure the fight scenes were cool, but it didn't have the creepy pacing of any of the originals. I just left feeling like a tool for being suckered into something that obviously not aimed towards my demographic anymore. Oh yeah, the girl with 1 layer of clothes in the Antartic would have a lot of Adrenaline coursing through her blood keeping her warm. Plus she walks towards a vehicle that's conviniently left on. No mystery there. Go watch something else. Like the originals instead. |
