nice read powerclown!

I just started Rise to Rebellion by Jeff Shaara

just finished Something Like an Autobiography by Akira Kuwosara - really enjoyed this book, more for his personal opinions than the stories he has to tell.

sailor 07-28-2004 05:31 AM

Absolutely American, David Lipsky.

Ive read it before, but decided to pick it up and read it again. Ive got a good friend at West Point, and its good to get a look at that life.

i like to analyze/discuss books, but not robbins
i have all his work, fierce invalids is my favorite.

Great book! I'm a Clancy fan, but I never have time to read. I also liked "Clear and Present Danger".

Right now, I am reading "A Time to Kill" by Grisham. I'm going on a trip to China next week, so I should be able to finish it by then (16 hours in the air!!!).

roachboy 07-28-2004 09:47 AM

v is excellent. probably my favorite pynchon book. even though only two things really stick with me: the idea of doing a yo yo and the priest haranguing his congregation of rats.....

Sacrifice by Clyde Phillips

tropple 07-29-2004 03:07 AM

John Maxim's "Bannerman's Law" (on the bus)

BTW, I finished the Donaldson's first Gap Cycle book. It was okay and filled the time. I don't think it is a raver, though. For some truly twisted plots, try on W. Michael Gear's Spider triolgy (Warriors of Spider, Web of Spider, Way of Spider) or his Forbidden Border's triolgy (Brain dead this morning, I can't think ofthe titles).

Kadath 07-29-2004 05:35 AM

tropple, The Real Story is just the intro book. It's short and direct to get people in. The series builds quite well. If you've got the time, it's worth it.

tropple 07-29-2004 09:27 AM

Thanks, Kadath.

I hope the remainder is more involved. I picked up all of them except for #2 (sold out in two stores) last weekend.

Chris Bunch's Risk Inc.: "The Doublecross Program" (at home)

Booray 07-29-2004 05:00 PM

Having misplaced my copy of Jitterbug, I am now reading Timequake by Vonnegut. It is depressing.

bltzkriegmcanon 08-01-2004 06:14 PM

Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers (yet again).

DonnieBoy 08-03-2004 08:55 PM

I found it at a Borders! I'm almost to the end of my current two books so I'll probably be starting it tonight! I sure as hell hope by bus isn't delayed tonight or I'll end up sitting with nothing to read.

Currently reading "Dry" by Augusten Burroughs - it's a about a gay, recovering alcoholic ad executive.

Started off really well - the chapters on the spiral down and rehab were fun, but the latter half is losing me a little.

-The Coma, Alex Garland

-The Four Agreements. Don Miguel Ruiz

I think I'm going to begin The Life of Pi next.

gorilla 08-07-2004 11:11 PM

I just started reading Generation Kill by Evan Wright, I read his columns in Rolling Stone about the war in Iraq called the Killer Elite and I thought it was very interesting so i was really glad that he wrote a book out of it. Im only 3 chapters in, and its already really good.

Val_1 08-08-2004 02:57 PM

God Against the Gods by Jonathan Kirsch. Its a history of the war between montheism and polytheism. Pretty interesting read.

aeolist 08-09-2004 12:47 AM

A Storm of Swords, third book in A Song Of Ice And Fire by George R. R. Martin, the finest series/author of modern fantasy.

sapiens 08-12-2004 11:26 AM

The Gulag Archipelago by Solzhenitsyn. Very disturbing non-fiction.

Esoteric 08-12-2004 12:34 PM

The Da Vinci Code, took a break at chapter 33. The book is very good so far. In fact, I need to continue and see what happens next!

08-12-2004 07:54 PM

My historical Linguistics textbook so I don't fail the course when I have to take it at the same time as it's pre-req. Also, at the same time (read: instead of) A Place to Call Home by Gabrielle Wills: a local writer from Lindsay, Ontario.... Amazing book for a first time author... very hard to find but worth it, if you're interested in historical fiction.

alpha 08-13-2004 01:16 AM

The Harry Potter books.. I'm not at book 3, intending to read them all.

Robert Ludlum's The Bourne Identity. Not my usual read at all, but having seen the movies recently, I decided to take a stab at it.
