just a word about color changing your text, it's generally frowned upon because you don't know what style someone else is using and probably it's not going to be readable and when something isn't readable, they skip it.

BUT you happened to pick the one color that staff uses because everyone can read it no matter the theme. Please don't use that one at all.

Hello all. I'm writing this from Maryland, where I am attending classes to upgrade my mariner status. I'm 41 years old. No wife, no kids, no home and a handful of friends scattered about the US. I work 4 months onboard/2 months off. I'm considering planting some roots in Seattle or the Bay area at the end of the year.

well had a god/religion vs morality debate with some co workers and just decided to do some more reading and found this site and the rest of the threads looked interesting just thought i'd join and have something to read and converse on to keep me sane during deployments

Hi im a 50yo married male

Ships today do have internet, though the amount of time you get online varies. At the least, sailors get some time each week to check email and pay their bills.
Working onboard the M.S. "pride of Aloha" in Hawaii, I got to surf the net daily, though it was via a prepaid card and quite expensive.
My daily status updates to my family and friends still get written at sea, they're just not posted daily. I keep everything on a memory stick and ready to post as one big update when possible.

niceasssub - we're pretty much just a mix of folks. I'm not quite sure what kind of advice you're looking for or what expect of the site. One thing that you shouldn't expect (or try) is using this as a hook-up site. The first complaint usually gets folks escorted to the door immediately.

Beyond that, what else can I tell you?

my advice is to post in the relevant sections the advice you need, and then those of us that can provide a good anser will respond.

1 thing i've found with this site, people do help you a lot and provide suitable ansers. unlike some forums i was on (i quit those ones). now, you'll find me on all the caring sites.

that was an unusually long ramble for me.
