Hmm. I can't think of any off the top of my head. I know I thought the world "approximately" meant "exactly" until I was 14 or 15. Everytime I heard someone say "there is approximately 150,000 people at the stadium" I would get mad because I knew that there wasn't EXACTLY that many people. Then one day I found out it meant the opposite. Ha ha.
On a side note, some of my friends believed wild things until they were older. One of my good friends didn't know that babies came out of vaginas until he took anatomy when he was 18 (he thought every woman in the history of man got a C-section). Another friend believed in Santa Claus until he was 15. I really think I'm forgetting something huge that I used to believe when I was little but it's escaping me!! -Lasereth

i believed art bell guests/unsolved mysteries paranormal stories to be generally factual i thought the space shuttle would venture farther into space instead of just orbiting the earth |

When I was a kid I believed that all matter is just energy condensed to a slow vibration - that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There is no such thing as death ; life is only a dream ...... we are the imagination of ourselves.
Or at least, I wish I did. Oh, my mother told me that once, when I was very young, I held the firm belief that it was not I that would move out of home, but her and my dad. |

I used to believe that English and Spanish were the "base" languages and that all other languages followed this same "base". I thought there was a Chinese-English and a Chinese-Spanish, for example. I also used to be scared witless of "grays", those gray aliens with large black eyes, you know.

When I was a little - mom told me there was a choc-wedge fairy.
(The "choc-wedge" was vanilla ice cream, on a stick, coated in chocolate). If I planted the stick in the garden and carefully placed a mostly intact paper wrapper over it, it would regenerate overnight into a new one. And it did... for a few nights at least. Then we simply started fetching from the freezer. : > |

Also, she once showed me her finger and pressed it together and told me that's how I started out in life and I was totally convinced that she was just bullshitting me... Up until around grade 3, I believed that I was the only kid in the world with my name and when I met somebody that had the same name as I did, I was really confused as hell

Anyone who knows me, knows how geographically challenged I am... It started as a child...
I honestly thought that Alaska and Hawaii were really close to one another, and I couldn't quite figure out why they had such different climates..... (every map I've ever seen, has alaska and hawaii drawn next to each other - I didn't get really stupid until later in life)

When I was very little, I was told that toasters worked because there was a little man inside that would keep an eye on the bread and when it exhibited the correct toastiness he would make it pop up... when it burned it was because he'd fallend asleep.
I also believed that if you swallowed gum it would stick to your ribs and make a stringy mess... I swallowed it nonetheless. I had a girlfriend who believed that if you ate your crusts you would get curly hair -- she had curly hair and ate her crusts and her cousin, who had straight hair, did not... it must be true! She also believe she got her freckles when she stood too close to the screen door when her father was painting.

When I was about 6 or so, my uncle fed me a piece of honeydew melon that had been bathed in a clear-colored hot sauce. It was so hot it made me cry. I never forgot about it. Up until I was around 14 or so, I refused to eat honeydew melons. People would swear up and down to me that they weren't hot, but I wasn't buying it. What, did they think I was stupid? Once I figured out that my uncle had duped me, way back when I was six, I was more impressed and amazed that mad or disappointed.

You might have to be asian to understand this one...but when I was younger, I was always told never to clip my fingernails at night cause if I did so, and I accidentally cut myself, all the rice would come out.
Yeah it's stupid but you know, when your elders instill that fear in you, man that shit doesn't go away.

When I was small I believed I have a tail like monkeys do. I think I was around 4 at that time.
At a family gathering: me: I'm a monkey adults: no Derek, you're a little boy me: I have a tail adults: no you don't *me pulled down my pants* me: Just that it grows in front doesn't mean it's not a tail! I truly believed it was a tail...

I had a theory about karma before I knew what karma was. I always tried to be good so that nothing bad would happen to me, and if something bad did happen, I went back and examined all my thoughts and actions. This was when I was like 5 or 6. I was a very stressful little kid.
I also believed that cockroaches were a lot smarter than they let on. |

I didn't have too many odd beliefs, even when I found out santa wasn't real I just nodded and said that made sense. I had some friends that had some wacky ideas though. One was that the stars were actual size, like glowing marbles. Another friend thought that orgasm was only something females did.
Just thought of some educational whacky type things though. I didn't have the months of the year memorized until I was 12 or so because no one had taught me. And I still have trouble remembering them in order. Another thing was that I've had a few friends that have trouble telling time on an analog clock (and they were near 20 yrs old).
