The definition of insanity
http://entertainment.msn.com/music/a...px?news=160321
Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Why does a beautiful, talented, and otherwise intelligent woman seem to be incapable of functioning for 5 FUCKING MINUTES without a man?!? The level of insecurity this woman must suffer from is nothing but sad. Anybody want to place bets on how long this "marriage" lasts? ---------- J.Lo Reportedly Weds Singer Marc Anthony Jun 6, 8:38 PM EST Jennifer Lopez reportedly married Marc Anthony in a small ceremony at her home, less than six months after she ended her high-profile engagement to Ben Affleck. Both Us Weekly and People magazines reported Saturday's nuptials. Lopez's spokesman Rob Shuter told The Associated Press on Sunday that he had no immediate comment, and neither magazine published comment from either Shuter or a representative for Anthony. For Lopez, 34, the marriage would mark her third — the first was to waiter Ojani Noa in 1997, the second to dancer Cris Judd in 2001. Noa lasted a little more than a year; Judd for nine months. Anthony, the Latin singing sensation, just divorced former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres last week in the Dominican Republic. The pair, wed in 2000, have two young sons, and he has a daughter from a previous relationship. Lopez — the singer-actress-fasho nista more famously known as J.Lo — has kept her romance with Anthony, 34, decidedly more low-key than her engagement to Ben Affleck, which was a magnet for tabloid attention. The 18-month "Bennifer" romance featured a near-wedding, but it was scuttled at the last minute with the couple blaming excessive media attention. Lopez also famously dated Sean "P. Diddy" Combs — back when he was still "Puffy" — for two years before the couple broke up in February 2001. It was unclear when Anthony and Lopez were engaged. The two first dated in 1999 and had been seen together since Lopez's split from Affleck. Lopez had reportedly been wearing a dazzling new diamond engagement ring for several weeks. White tents and an altar were set up outside Lopez's house on Saturday, with folding chairs on both sides of an aisle, Us reported. The two were married shortly after 6 p.m. before about 40 guests, Us reported. Lopez reportedly wore Neil Lane jewelry and a dress with a veil. Lopez's mother, Guadalupe, arrived at the event in a limousine with Anthony, "Entertainment Tonight" reported. Anthony and Lopez were both born in New York. Us reported that Saturday's wedding was coordinated by Sharon Sachs, who also planned Lopez's wedding to Judd and the canceled wedding to Affleck in Santa Barbara. Lopez was on screen most recently as Affleck's wife in "Jersey Girl." She dies minutes into the film. Anthony, a salsa superstar who has also had crossover success, is releasing a Spanish album, "Amar Sin Mentiras," on Tuesday. He has also dabbled in acting, and appeared in the recent Denzel Washington film "Man on Fire."

happiness doesn't come from having money or "loved ones" surrounding you.
seems to me that she's the epitome of unhappy.

I always feel sorry for the rich and famous. Their lives, as personified by the person in question here, seem so deluded as to be remarkable. I suppose - deep down - that's the fascination. I have a feeling that below the knee-jerk envy and desire many people have to be one of them, we all know they are pathetic.

I suspect that they define their "happiness" through the eyes of the public. They will never find peace while looking through the media's prism. Their only escape is to shun the very public they are addicted to. In this case, it will never happen.

Not all celebrities are pathetic, but it seems a lot of music pop stars do have this problem. Perhaps it reflects in the individuals being made popular? I've heard a lot of grumbling about how the music industry focuses more on style than substance; this may just be another side effect of that.

From where I am sitting, much of celebrities problems comes from too much, too soon. They seem to have been handed this stellar career and didn't pay their dues like some others. I would think that it would be hard to develop self confidence and have a healthy level of self esteem if everything is handed to you, and people are your friends purely because you are famous.

The actual opposite of 'love' is indifference-which is basically how I feel about most 'celebrities'. (I would not, however, turn Tom Selleck away should he come knocking)
I don't pity them or hate them. Let them dig their own holes, marry 10 times or whatever floats their boats. And, if you think you may want to put some of these attention-grabbers on a pedestal-picture them on the john..... |

Not to get off subject(but am anyway), so can love or hate. As Dr. Joyce Brothers has explained, the emotions of love and hate are just that- deeply-felt emotions-whether toward animate or inanimate objects. As the opposite of feeling would be UNfeeling, so the opposite of love/hate must be indifference-the absence of any emotion. I LOVE chocolate and my kids(not the same way) HATE cheesecake and phonies(almost the same way) and couldn't care less about who J-Lo fucks.

It is pretty sad, but you don't need to be a celebrity to make this mistake. J Lo is a warning sign. Hopefully she is making these extreme examples in the public eye so that others can learn from her mistakes.

Life under the microscope
We live in a culture where everyone spends so much time creating an image for other others to consume. The lives of celebrities are exponentially worse than ours in this manner. Perspective is such a hard thing to find in any of our lives. How can one find perspective when every moment is dictated by a concern about how it will be perceived by a mass public? A career and livelihood in acting/entertaining demands one to suspend humanity in a way that is unfathomable to me. It is for this reason that I would consider a life in public service in politics to be something that I could not pursue. Though who knows what sacrifices I will be willing to make in the future?
