Alcohol... drugs... blunt-force trauma to the head and subsequent rape...
YEAH, she "fell" down some stairs. They're buying it because they want his confession. Does this not say "drugged her, beat her until she went unconscious, then raped her" to anyone else? Maybe she fought his rape even while drugged, so he just beat her until she stopped resisting. I find it very hard to believe she just fell down some stairs. Scumbag. |

That's what I was thinking. If they'd mentioned he was crazy on his own intoxicants, then I might believe it was an out-of-his-head moment. But nothing, then he pleads guilty... Sounds like a planned accident. He's getting off easy.

It seems hard to accept this when that older woman got 30 years for soliciting sex from minors, you know - the "cool Mom?"
Nine years is the catch of a lifetime for this sicko.

I like my news articles to be written without judgment words used by the writers.
Also, 25 years seems like a much better sentence.

yeah 9 years... and you should know that 9 years normally means a maximum of 6 years inside (unless he commits further crimes while he's in prison) in the UK... and realistically he'd probably be out in 5 if he is good.
I would guess, without the article I read giving a lot of detail, that there must have been other evidence that she was drunk and fell on her own... but regardless I have no comprehension for such a light sentence. In all honesty, I dont really support the death penalty and I dont normally call for retribution as a form of justice... but if this guy was just killed, really who would complain? who would care? That somebody's reaction to a child injured and in desperate need of help would be to deny her the medical care she needed so that he could rape her while she was unconscious... it is fathomless, obscene. When an individual behaves not as a human, can they forfit their right to be treated as one? I dont know. It is a reaction based on disgust, but in my gut I really do feel that some crimes can be so appalling as to justify the abolition of the perpetrator. I wouldnt ever support torture or spectacle as a punishment, even for the worst crimes, but some things seem so inhuman, and to evidence that the person who did it is so utterly detached from human decency that they are beyond redemption, that I do start to see an argument to simply exterminate them. When this guy is out in 5 years, will he be rehabilitated? How can someone so indecent ever be reconciled to humanity?

The second article stated she'd been out doing drugs, etc. with friends, so there was nothing there to suggest he had anything to do with that part of it. He's just a scumbag who took an opportunity to show his monstrous callousness and disregard for anyone but himself. Don't know how British prisons work, but here he'd probably experience quite consciously what his stepdaughter did as she lay dying.
