Treo 650 vs. Blackberry 7250 (Bluetooth, of course!)
My head is spinning with reviews and on-line chatter about these newer PDA phones.
I need the device to be as practical and dependable as a cel phone can be (which in my area = Verizon ) and I want a good organizer that will sync up easily with my iBook G4 that I just bought. I really need to keep my calendar and phone book up to date and with me at all times. If it's not easy to use (and sync) and not dependable as a Palm or phone, then it's of absolutely no use to me. Receiving email isn't first on my list right now, but I can see this changing in the near future. Ahh, is technology really good for us or just an ever tightening noose around our straining necks? Thanks for your help! g

I've used the Blackberry 7250 (through T-Mobile) quite a bit and was very happy with it. I didn't use it with a Mac, but it synced quite nicely with Windows. I haven't used a Treo 650 before, so I can't compare.

Wife has a Treo 6500, uses it with both her G3 iBook and my G4 iMac. Flawless so far. I've only heard vague reports of iCal "issues" but that's not an app we use. |

Thanks for the input so far. Most of the reviews I have found on line are at least a couple months old, or older. We know how quickly devices are updated and patches made available. My buddy swears by his Treo 600 and is trying to sell it to fund a 650. He uses Verizon, but has to pay 50 clams a month for the unlimited email downloads. Does anyone use their PDA phones with Sprint or Cingular for a comparison? My problem is that Verizon is by far the best, most reliable service in the mountains. Cingular is the worst and now Sprint offers a deal for $5 which utilizes Verizon's towers when needed (transparent to the user) since they are on the same type of signal.
Thanks again g

go to www.treocentral.com, best site about the treo in the world. I have a 650 and love it, never used a blackberry as I am with sprint. There are so many things that you can do with the 650 and I dont know about the blackberry. I havent used my blue-tooth for hot-syncing, but for the blue-tooth headset, it work ok, the headsets I tried all sucked, but the BT worked. I agree with the above statement that any instability in the palm is not caused by the palm, but by user installed software. I have a ringer program which causes really random resets weeks apart, but I live with it. My vote is for the treo.
