well i got some money set aside and looking to hopefully get a new mobo/cpu.. i love AMD.. never had let me down.. only question is would the 3200+ 64 be worth the extra cash over the 3000+ 64..
3000+ $346.79 cdn http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...anufacture=AMD 3200+ for $434.20 cdn http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...anufacture=AMD ASUS K8V SE DELUXE $185.82 cdn http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...nufacture=ASUS or if someone could show me a good combo for Intel, by all means.. |

Yes, the extra money for the 3200+ is worth it. The 3000+ has 512kb of L2 cache. The 3200+ has 1 MB of L2 cache. That'll increase performance dramatically, even though both processors are the same speed. I'd hit up the 3200+.

Well, I can't say I'm too familiar with the heatsink/fan industry, but what I would do is keep the stock heatsink to begin with. Try it out to see how noisy it is, and how well it cools the processor. If it's not up to snuff, then look into others.
I was surprised how well my stock heatsink worked on my P4, and I didn't need to buy a new one. It's just a tad on the noisy side, though, so I might simply replace the fan on it. |

I can't really tell you much about price because the exchange rate from the canadian dollar escapes me.
If you can afford it, go for the 3200+. But make sure you can still get other good hardware (RAM, HD, GFX) to compliment that. And with some good RAM, you can even OC a bit. I would suggest a Zalman fan, but I am not sure if that would come into contact with the NB cooler on your MB. If you know how to replace a NB cooler, I'd suggest you get a slimline one and then get a Zalman. Other than that, there are loads of wonderful HS companies: Swiftech, Thermalright, Coolermaster, Alpha, etc. |
