Need Help! Powerpoint Pros Come On In!
ok. three basic problems. i'd really appreciate the help
![]() i'm not sure about comp stats, but nothing so obsolete that it cant handle powerpoint. heh. -how can you make it so that manual advance to the next slide during a slideshow by clicking anywhere on the slide is disabled and the only way to change slides is via pushing buttons? -when i password protect; both to make it read-only as well as the opening of the program, everything get's so slow. any way to lessen stress on ram? actually, even when i disabled both passwords, it starts slowing down like CRAZY. And the file itself is no larger than 200kb and all the sound files associated are external. Any tips? I've restarted, and so far i haven't touched the security options, and everything's running smoothly. Yet, i would prefer to use passwords. so any ideas? -ok. so in this presentation, the background is an imported picture of my desktop which has a few icons on it. I wan't to make it so that when you click on one of the icons, the button that is behind it (not visible) will be activated and the in document hyperlink will become activated. if this is not possible, how can I make it so that just a mouseover itself will activate the button? because i've tried this but it won't work because i think that the button has to be on the uppermost layer. I even tried to look for an option that makes the button transparent, but no luck. any ideas? thanks again for all the help! |

1 - I would still like to hear the comp stats. Slow usually = not enough Ram or Processor. Get OS and everything involved whenever asking this type of information. Even if you think it is not relevant
2 - Yes you can manually advance slides and it is the default setting when you make a new slide show. Did you start out with an existing slide show and modify it? You have to clear any presaved timings and clear out the animation effects to reflect only mouse click. 3 - the file that you are using for a background is likly at fault. Can you drag it into an art program and resave it as a smaller file size? I bet it is a BMP and if you made it a jpg you may be btter off? 4 - I would try creating a transparent .gif in your favorite art program and use that for your desired effects. Maybe use borders at first so you can see where they are and then remove them as a final step when you are all done. if you have addition problems, PM me and I will give you my email address. I can look at the file and see what I can do. BTW, I am the Golden God of Powerpoint.
