Being a 49ers fan, I would honestly love to see there be a Robert Gallery or a Tony Boselli FRANCHISE type O-Lineman around to grab to anchor the piece of crap they have and call an offensive line.

Benson would be fine with me, if not for the fact all the money the put into Barlow who just really needs some sort of a line in front of him. and as for your #2 Mike Williams, I think they could afford to pass with Rashaun Woods and Brandon Lloyd being so young, I however, do not think (as of right now) neither one of them deserves or has the ability to play as a #1 WR.

I don't think Mike Williams will go #2, maybe middle of the first or early second.

Agreed on Mike Williams, with him missing the time and the early entry getting blocked last year you have to think/feel his stock has slipped and I do not see him going any earlier than late first round. Now let's talk Clarett, I live in Columbus and personally HATE the Buckeyes due to all the bandwagon fair weather fans. I do not know what other states/areas are like but the fans hoop and holler about they should be undefeated and win a national championship every year and if they should lose to Michigan no matter how the rest of the seaon turns out, lookout someone's head will roll.

Where do you guys see Clarett going? If at all?

I have this site bookmarked. Lists various mock draft sites.

Mike Williams won't last past the Ravens at #22, that's absolutely sure.

Maurice Clarett will be signed as an UDFA by someone like Oakland, who could use a running back no matter the background.

San Francisco probably goes with Aaron Rogers or Alex Smith, but we'll see.

I think SF need a running back first of all, Kevan Barlow had the lowest yards per carry in the NFL for a starting tailback. Their QBs are young and therefore can only get better (right?!!), with their salary cap room they can get some help at guard and tackle, which will help the QBs get settled.

If they do get Alex Smith, or that other fellow it will be the same type of situation as with Eli in New York, a crappy o-line and a rookie QB do not mix. But at least NY had some sort of stable running game.

I think SF should get Benson, and keep Barlow as a power/short yardage guy, meanwhile next season they can draft a QB, because they will still be rebuilding. And if they trade up (or lose lots of games) they can get Matt Leinart after all.

I think Mike Williams looked great in the BCS game, but it really does not matter what order a player is chosen when you are in the top 10. Because every one of them will make at least 1 to 2 million dollars in their first year if not more than 5 million dollars. We'll see the order when it happens until then Williams will be playing in the NFL next year.

I see clarett going deep in the draft, he won't be Undrafted just because of all the fuss he made in college and how much hype there was around him, someone will get stuck with him.

As for the rest of the draft, i'm not sure San Francisco has the brainpower to make the right move. The ideal move for them is to trade down in the draft and get a good solid veteran lineman.

The only team I can really feel comfortable saying what they should do is the lions. They need help in the secondary, a TE, o-line. Given the creative ways the front office has handled things recently, I look for the lions to move down, and pick up and extra second rounder and get a nice O-lineman and hopefully nab a safety in the second round. There are a lot of good DBs in the draft this year and while Mel Kiper sees the Lions drafting the TE out of virginia this year, I can't say they'll do that. They have alexander and fitzpatrick who are serviceable for now, they don't need to go wasting a high draft pick on a TE. I haven't seen the kid play but I can't imagine him being worth a top 10 pick.

one other thing about the draft is Chicago will probalby jump at the chance of having a Braylon Edwards available at their draft spot. They need a big play wideout and they don't have that. David Terrell is not a #1, 2 or even 3 wideout on any other team in the league.

The latter as opposed to the former

I just can't believe how an NFC Championship caliber team got dismantled so quickly

Something tells me that Miami will shy away from Cedric Benson. He's nothing more than Ricky Williams-lite. Same school, same type of player, good friends. Too much for the Dolphins to deal with.

I was thinking that same thing. A lot of people have him pinned as the dolphins guy but look at him. The only difference is the obvious name and ricky is a bit better pass catcher. They even have the same hair style for god's sake. The entire state of Florida would cringe if they picked him.

Mark Clayton and cadillac williams are the most interesting to me in the draft. I think both of these players have the potential to do alot for an NFL team. The only problem, of course, is size.

Mike Williams will be a steal for anyone who gets him. I have seen him play in person and he is one of those guys who make everyone else on the field look like they are playing a different game. He is world class.

That being said - most WRs don't pan out until 2-3 years into the league. Don't expect him to light it up right away. The NFL is still full of guys at the top of their game as well.

As for the others? I am always a fan of building your lines and everything else will fall into place from there. The 'Skins are somewhere around 10 -11 or so I think. Unless a Williams falls to them, I say they go with the best lineman they have at that point.

Charlie Ward went undrafted after winning the Heisman and ended up never playing in the NFL, opting instead to go to the NBA.

eric crouch. Gino Torretta, I think Danny Wuerful. Either way its become more of a curse than a blessing. 5 since 1990 (not counting white or leinart) have made it big in the NFL and stayed....5 in 13 years. that's ridiculous.

From what I remember of charlie ward, he expressed his lack of interest in the NFL before the draft.

Absolutely agree with Big Mike Williams. The guy is all-world and is a true physical freak. I know that title is totally cliched by today's sports talking heads, but Mike Williams is as true to the phrase physical freak as anyone in a long time. He's enormous, freakishly strong and has soft hands, deceptive speed and the natural knack for getting open and using his huge frame to shield the ball from DBs. I can't imagine many CBs in the league will have the ability to jam him at the line, and it's only a matter of time before entire defensive gameplans are schemed around him.

I agree that his stock has definitely slipped after being out of football for a year and having some rust. However, the guy has been preparing for the combines for an entire year straight, and with the work ethic he's proven he has, he's more than likely just bigger, faster, stronger than the last time we saw him on a football field.

I still think he'll be a top 10 pick, and even then he's a steal. Had he played this past season, I don't think there'd be any doubt that he'd be the top pick, and USC would have been even more dominant.

I'm not going to get into it (unless someone asks me to), and plus it's off subject and I've already gotten into it in other sports forum topics, but this USC team wasn't even nearly at the full strength many thought it would be after the '03 season. So many key players did not play for so many different reasons, yet the team still rolled to a NC.

but back on the topic of the draft...two players that I am very familiar with that I feel aren't getting the love they deserve and will be steals for their respective teams are USC defensive linemen, Shaun Cody and Mike Patterson. The two formed the best DT tandem in the nation this past year and were the keys to a dominant USC defense the past 3 seasons. both are formidable in their own right and have been taught by the best D-line coach in the nation (Ed Orgeron, now head coach at Ole Miss, and former D-line coach at Miami coaching the likes of Warren Sapp, etc.).

Shaun has some of the best swim moves I've ever seen and can shed blocks and go around or through offensive linemen. He's also very versatile, as he played every spot on the D-line while at SC.

Mike "Baby Sapp" Patterson has the quickest move off the ball you will see out of any nose tackle on any level of the game. He's a relentless rusher and you'll see him in on every single play and harrassing quarterbacks all over the NFL.

I think Jason White will go in the draft, maybe in the second round to a team with a good offensive line... I'm thinking Green Bay, here's why:

Favre. As long as Favre is starting, Jason can keep his knees out of harm's way, when Favre retires (two years tops), he'll be schooled through osmosis of Brett Favre, and hopefully more healthy.

The offensive line. Whether it's coaching or personell GB have consistantly had a brilliant offensive line scheme, there's a reason why Favre hasn't had a serious injury in his career (and it's not his playing hurt lunacy either, I'm talking about a blown out knee or a broken spine). Note Oklahoma's offensive line.

The running game. If they keep Ahman Green around GB will have a solid running game for a long while, this protects Jason White and takes some pressure off him. Note Oklahoma's running game.

I think Clarett will go in the 7th... or at least he will get a trial by some teams. Hell, the Raiders took Bo in the 7th the season after he was "taken" #1 overall.

You make valid points but I can't agree with you. Green Bay is losing a lot of that offensive line in free agency. They can't afford to sign them all this year, i'm sure it will only get worse at time wears on. Their front office (in the past) hasn't shown the intelligence in the draft to cure this problem before it gets out of hand. Jason White's knees aren't going to get any healthier. With the injuries he suffered on them, they're always going to be like that. You have to be a John Elway kind of player with that ability and that kind of leadership to come back from huge knee surgeries and make an NFL career possible. Jason White simply isn't good enough. Its not hard to build an offensive line in college football when you're a school like Oklahoma, the pitch is something like: we'll give you a free ride and you'll compete for a national championship every year you're here. Again, if Jason White goes in the 7th round...I'll be surprised.
