the oakland A's...a bunch of winey babies?
its starting to look that way, bitching about every thing
http://www.tsn.ca/mlb/news_story.asp?id=56370 for those who dont like clicking links <hr> OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Some of the Oakland Athletics were furious with Derek Lowe, accusing the Red Sox pitcher of making obscene gestures toward them after he struck out Terrence Long to finish Boston's 4-3 victory in the AL division series Monday night. ``It's a situation where if you did anything where you offended anyone, I'm sorry,'' Lowe said. ``I was swinging my arms around. I don't know what I did. I did the same crazy thing I do every game.'' The A's thought Lowe simulated a sexual act with his arms and made a gesture toward his crotch following the final out, sending Oakland shortstop Miguel Tejada into a rage in the clubhouse moments later. ``Derek Lowe is going to be paid back for that sign,'' Tejada screamed hysterically through the clubhouse, shouting expletives. ``My kid is in the stands. He's going to pay.'' Oakland general manager Billy Beane escorted the crying Tejada away. Tejada was later told that Lowe apologized. ``I feel better now that I hear he apologizes,'' Tejada said after calming down. ``He was jumping around and making a scene. They have families up there, we have families up there.'' Tejada is one of the most emotional players on the A's, and this was probably his final game with them because he can become a free agent. ``He takes everything personally, wins and losses, and plays with his heart on his sleeve,'' first baseman Scott Hatteberg said of Tejada. ``He plays with everything he's got.'' Other A's players were offended. ``That's extremely unprofessional,'' centre fielder Chris Singleton said. ``That's a shame that's the type of person he is. He was the only one who showed less than professionalism.'' Hatteberg spent seven seasons with the Red Sox and 11 in their organization. He and Lowe were teammates. ``To have that done is absolutely classless and unprofessional,'' Hatteberg said. ``I'm disappointed having known him. I don't think it was aimed at (Tejada), it was aimed at us. I know we show emotion, but I can't think of anything we've done to show them up.'' <hr> and after i saw highlights of game three (i think) when Tejada stopped rounding third (when he saw that he had no play at the plate) turned around and started to bitch to the Ump saying that he was interfered with....you never stop running in baseball, you learn that in little league.

Oakland will be back next year - their pitching is too good not to make the playoffs. As for Tejada, he won't be back unless Oakland uncharacteristically shells out some money. So I can see why he was a little upset.
However, the retalitation mentality in baseball has gotten ridiculous. We live in a sports world where a second-string NFL wideout makes a five yard first down catch with his team down by three touchdowns and jumps up and gesticulates as if he just saw Jesus reincarnated in front of his very eyes. If MLB players can't stand to have a little celebration at hitting a homerun or getting a series winning stikeout then they should retalitate - by actually winning the game the next time out. |

Bonds is the worst with regards to this. He whines when a pitcher pumps his fist after getting him out. A pitcher who has just gotten one of the toughest outs in baseball, who most pitchers won't even pitch to. Striking Bonds out is a great achievement. But it's perfectly okay for him to hit a home run and stand there like a jackass, watch it sail over the wall, flip his bat at the catcher and trot around the bases.

I dunno. I guess I'd be imagining things too if I were the A's; like the second round of the playoffs. I'm surprised Tejada didn't claim that Lowe had a gun and was pointing it at his kid or something.
A's, you had your chance, now go home, play your golf, and watch the Red Sox dismantle the Yankees. Perhaps you can learn something from the Sox. Cheers! |

And if one more person bitches about Manny walking to first, who cares. Guy just hit the biggest home run of his life.
The only people bitching are the Red Sox haters, and the A's lovers. No one else gives to shits. I thought it was awsome, I hate Manny. =/ |

I saw a replay of the last at bat and Lowe took his fist and like fake punched his nuts. If anyone has ever seen wrestling and remembers Degeneration X then you'll now what I mean. The only thing is I don't remember what side that A's dugout is if the pithcer faces the plate. But Lowe gestured to his right after the strikeout.
But fuck the A's they choked and are complaining and crying and are the Minnesota Vikings of baseball.

Lowe is like a little kid and gets excited easily. If he did anything near his crotch, it is purely a coincidence. He had every reason on earth to be excited.
I never knew how much of a gabber Tejada is until I saw him in this series. He never shuts up. Maybe someone should mention to him to keep running until the play is over. |

boo-fucking hoo.
To get riled up over this is stupid. I'm sure Miguel Tejada never says anything offensive or makes questionable gestures on the field. I'm sure Saint Miguel is as white as a dove's ass and has never let his emotions get the better of him..... Quote:
