Kurt Warner is getting Hosed
Am I the only person who thinks Kurt Warner is getting a raw deal? Bulger had 2 first half fumbles, losing both of them. Warner passed for more than 100 yards more than Bulger. Plus, after the two fumbles, Martz changed his gameplan and ran the ball more. In fact, Faulk had twice as many carries as last week. Bulger also threw the ball half as many times as Warner, meaning he spent far less time dropping back, which would mean getting hit and fumbling. Last week, at halftime, the commentators were questioning whether Martz should pull Warner, but not this week with Bulger. In the game wrap-up, Bulger got all of the credit for the victory, and his fumbles were glossed over. No one was calling for Manning, McNabb, Brady or Favre to be benched after week 1. Why Warner? I know he has been hurt, and Bulger did well when filling in, but Martz changes his whole gameplan when Bulger goes in the game. If Martz would make a committment to run the ball more when Warner is in the game, he would do just fine. If Martz doesn't get fired, I hope for Warner's sake that he gets traded to a team with a decent coach.

if u remember, bulger went 6-1 last yr, while warner had a dismal record.
as for the bulger fumbles, he sure didnt fumble as many times as warner. warner lost the ball everytime that the D touched him. that fumble in the endzone just really pissed me off. i was like WTF was he trying to do?

Look up the run vs. pass stats from Warner and Bulger's starts last season and you will see what I am talking about. Bulger played with a trimmed down playbook, meaning more runs and short passes. Warner had the whole playbook and spent far more time in the pocket, leading to more sacks. Also, when you never run the ball, defenses drop 8 or 9 guys back against the pass, leading to more picks: see the Rams/Pats Superbowl. Warner's biggest problem is his stubborness and refusal to tell anyone that he is hurt. But in his situation, wouldn't you try to stay in the game as much as possible so you don't lose your job?
If Martz hadn't started to run the ball more, Bulger would have been sacked more and had more fumbles. Running the ball opens up the passing game, it keeps people honest. Also, I don't think even Warner knew what he was doing in the end zone before he fumbled. See my above comment about stubbornly playing hurt.

Sorry, but every time I've seen Warner in the pocket since the Super Bowl loss, he's looked like a deer in headlights. Bulger has been getting the job done. I think Martz has given him a lot of chances and he hasn't produced. More running from Marshall would help, but on every passing down, it looks like Warner is waiting to toss an INT or get sacked.

Martz is an idiot.
Dick in KC was the "real" genius in St. Louis and people better start paying attention. He put 41 up on the #1 rush D in the NFL. Warner may be getting hosed in the sense of the playbook but he is not getting hosed in the way he has played. Bulger is playing much better and if the only way to get Martz to use Faulk more is to play Bulger then by all means keep Bulger in. Art |

Based on what I saw on ESPN today - it should be a no brainer. I don't cared if the playbook is trimmed, if the game plan is more conservative, I think Al Davis said it best: "Just win baby". And that is what Bulger has done. I like Warner, but if he isn't producing and Bulger is, I think you have your answer.

Bulger is 7-1 and Warner is 0-7 so the numbers clearly favor Bulger. Warner doesn't seem himself out on the field and I felt that he should have left St. Louis in the off season to get a change of scenario and maybe a second wind with a new team. If Warner keeps going at this rate he will go from grocery bagger to MVP back to grocery bagger.
I also agree though that Martz is an overrrated idiot.

I agree with Grayman - Bulger is not running the same offense as Warner. Still, Bulger is a very good QB, and I think he has a better chance of succeeding while running the full offense than Warner does.
Of course, they SHOULD just give it to Marshall 30+ times a game and go from there! Look at what KC is doing, especially what they did to the Steelers, winning when Green had an off game because their stud RB went nuts.

As Herm Edwards said "HELLO!!! YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME!!!!" The Quarterback that wins the most, gets the starts the most, so I agree with the starting of Bulger, I've been a big supporter of Bulger since last year, (tho I'm not a Rams fan, I just think he deserved a better shot). In truth and reality, it doesn't matter how you play the game, it just matters if you win the game.
