Look up the run vs. pass stats from Warner and Bulger's starts last season and you will see what I am talking about. Bulger played with a trimmed down playbook, meaning more runs and short passes. Warner had the whole playbook and spent far more time in the pocket, leading to more sacks. Also, when you never run the ball, defenses drop 8 or 9 guys back against the pass, leading to more picks: see the Rams/Pats Superbowl. Warner's biggest problem is his stubborness and refusal to tell anyone that he is hurt. But in his situation, wouldn't you try to stay in the game as much as possible so you don't lose your job?
If Martz hadn't started to run the ball more, Bulger would have been sacked more and had more fumbles. Running the ball opens up the passing game, it keeps people honest.
Also, I don't think even Warner knew what he was doing in the end zone before he fumbled. See my above comment about stubbornly playing hurt.
