I've noticed....every team in the NL seems to have a Met killer. Even the Mets have one...his name is Aaron Heilman.

Latest news out of Chicago - Ronny Cedano gets a big hit in the 8th last night against the Mets, predicts a World Series this morning and just hit a grand slam in the bottom of the eighth yesterday.
It's waaaaaay too early to start talking about playoffs, especially with this franchise, but damn... And kutulu, I hate your avatar. Which you probably already knew.

Do you see why I'm pulling my hair out?!?!?!? Granted, Figs didn't have a great outing, but every time Schoenweis, Sosa, or Heilman get on the mound, one of two things happen: The bases get loaded up, or somebody slaps one into the stands, and when the stars align like they did today, both happen. I can tolerate the sluggish offense because other players are stepping up, but when you take the game completely out of the batters' hands...

ok so Gange had a decent track record in Texas.. so fucking what. Look at what he did in a big market. He sucked so much donkey ass he turned into one. Then the Brewers (who have a closer mind you) give Gange an insane amount of money to be a closer in a division that will be tightly contested (probably). Not very smart. He wasn't attempting to salvage his career, he was attempting to find a stupid GM that would pay him a fat check and pretend he still had the stats. He found one that's for sure.
and I guess Pan can chill out now. C.C had a decent line last night. Dropped his ERA 3 points. oh.. yeah one more thing. Am I the only one sick of hearing all this goddamn Joba shit?? Baby Stein wants to call people an idiot for keeping a guy in the pen who has a 100mph fastball.. umm.. well.. let's see.. the kid doesn't really have the diversity of pitches to make it as a starter.. he has no arm strength built up.. and let's see him throw that 100mph heater after 4 innings. He should stay as a setup guy and replace Rivera when the time is right. oh fuck me.. and I really saying this?? nevermind.. make the kid a starter so Manny can bust his ass up. Gagne is done, I think the Brew Crew made a move to just appease the critics and he was the only one who would sign there. Once they start winning, I see them spending and getting some gus that will truly help. They have a great team there. CC it'll take more than just one game against a team that can't hit and is in a downslide. Now if he puts together 2 -3 more starts that strong I'll breathe easier. Joba???? The bugs are too thick Joba?????

Just remember that Phil Hughes and Ian Kennedy couldn't handle a Baltimore offense with Kevin Millar batting cleanup and a shortstop that hits like it's 1968 (not Carl Yaztremski, either; more like Hal Lanier).
Yeah, I'm worried about the Yankees

I don't know why you are all focused on Gagne as such a big bust when the Dodgers have got to be shitting their collective pants about Andruw Jones, his .156 average, 1 HR and the $15M he's due this year. I know it's almost impossible to compare hitters and pitchers in quantifiable terms, but I have to insist that Jones is having a much slower start than CC, pan, especially after last night.

Jazz.. you must have missed my earlier post where I dogged Andruw. That was a pretty obvious thing, but I think it's a little easier to get a swing back than a throwing arm.
I'm still pissed off that Gagne sucked it up in Boston so much last year.. just like I'll talk shit about Renteria .. Plus, if you want to look at hitters and talk about Andruw.. how about Ryan Howard?? wins arbitration and sucks it up. |

gucci, you know me well enough to know that if it didn't happen on this page, it might as well not exist for me. Even if I caught it, it didn't happen today, and it's filed next to what I had for lunch on Monday. But I did catch your "black cat" comment.
I thought about using Ryan Howard as my example but didn't because he's hitting .190 and "only" making $10M. His OBP and SLG are also a lot better than Jones, who's never seen a high fastball he didn't like. And he does have 4 HR's, which is marginally ok. On the plus side, he's being patient at the plate and has 15 walks this year. Edit: and did you have a good time at the game last night?

By the way, I met Sean Casey out at a bar on Monday and the guy is unbelievably classy and gracious. I knew his reputation, and he lived up to it. I was pleased to shake his hand. Some of these other guys, I couldn't care less about.

You don't win the division in April but a hot start sure makes it easier. The DBacks wrapped up a 22-game stretch against the NL West (what happened to the NL West so far?) going 17-5. They own a 6 game lead over the Dodgers and haven't lost a series since the first one of the year. Webb is 6-0 and the team is the tops in the NL both for runs scored and runs allowed. What a start.

Well the Dodgers are .. well they're being the Dodgers.. tons of expectations but no delivery.
Like I said before, the Dbacks are loaded with young talent, and while they may be playing over their heads.. they have the talent to sustain a good playoff run. Boston really needs to start putting a streak together. The AL East has been a pretty boring division (IMO) so far this year. Lots of underachieving that is pissing me off. I've been saying for a long time to look for the Rays to show something, and this year they are doing it so far, but they really shouldn't be competing with the likes of Boston just yet. I guess that's what cold offense gets you though. and Pan.. are you convinced C.C. is ok yet?? |

Shoot, two Sox pitchers just lost after pitching just about as well. It's the way things go sometimes. I always hate to see it though, you have the feeling that there are only a certain number of bullets in their guns in any given year.

I'm going to the Sox game tomorrow (Tues). I'm hoping Lester has one of his good games. Hoping more that the rain stops before game time.
I watched the Bucholtz game. That was a shame how that ended. He pitched a great game. I missed the Beckett game. |

The first half of the game, I was sitting behind a pole. Couldn't see the pitcher. Couldn't complain though, the tickets were free.
We did have a good time. I got a few pics before the battery died. Had a pair of fidgety couples in front of us. I don't think they sat still for an entire inning till the 7th. Constant beer runs. Idiots. |
