14 runs allowed by the bullpen in three games. The Mets have resumed their losing ways, it's obvious they're not going to the playoffs. Premature? We'll see come September.

The same things that doomed them last season are cropping up, namely a horrible bullpen that wipes out a good effort by the starting rotation, and a lackluster offense that can't carry them through like you would expect them to.

I'll take the Braves in that division. I'm just not sure about how many good quality starts the mets can get other than Santana.
Speaking of quality starts.. lester sure didn't have one last night.. let the tigers blast away maybe the minnesota gm isn't so stupid after all heh. |

My INDIANS are off to a horrendous start offensively....thank god the pitching is at least winning us a few games. But the offense has to get better. 6 runs in the first 4 innings combined in all games after the opener. Not a good stat. Especially as the opposition has scored 27 runs in that same category.
It's early, I guess I'd rather watch them come alive as the season grows and peak at the end. But, can the pitching win enough games to keep us in it? Or will the pitching staff start to fall apart because of the pressure? Westbrook and Lee are so far untouchable, Carmona is tough and shows why we signed him for 7 yrs. CC has a history of doing poorly against the A's and Angels so his start is deceiving.... but how much is the contract year and his pushing to get the most out of free agency on his mind? Lots of questions on the TRIBE not man answers yet. The REDS though are staying alive, and young. They are going to be a surprise team this year. Still missing something but I think they could end up in the hunt and if they make the right move come trade time in July.... they may take the NL Central. GOD SAVE THE OHIO TEAMS.

Cleveland will be fine.. Red Sox will be fine..
the Reds will fall off. They have a good farm club, but it will take a few years to get back in contention. There's alot of "surprise" teams right now but it should even out shortly. Most of the surprise teams are merely the benefactors of other teams having poor starts. like llow said.. once the big hitters (i.e. David Ortiz) and pitchers get going on all cylinders.. it's gravy. |

Dodgers still limping along. A couple blowout wins and a few hard losses. James Loney is as good as advertised, now we just need Russel Martin to break out of his slump.

I know it's early but my TRIBE truly is sucking sewer water.
They are a the end of 4 vs Detroit.... Indians 1 hit a 1st inning homer y David Dellucci and 0/12 against someone Detroit just called up.... Hey Zues Freaking Crisps.... I should know better than to draft Indians on the fantasy teams.... they always suck when I have them and flourish when I get rid of them.....Anyone want V Mart, Hafner, Peralta and Sabathia? Speaking of Sabathia.... another great game for him.... final stats for the night ......................IP ....H.....R....ER....BB.....K....HR C.C. Sabathia ... 4.0 ....8 ....9 ....9 .... 5 .... 1.... 2 He's thrown 93 pitches 59 for strikes / the new kid..... 41 thrown and 28 for strikes. He's an ace alright..... he's going to get Santana money alright..... I hope they trade that fat slob.... I knew he was a bum last year, he cannot win BIG games for the life of him. Go to NY/LA/Chi.... see how well they treat bums that can't pitch pressure games.... fat slob..... (course by the end of the year I'll be bragging how great he pitched down the stretch and how cheap Dolan will be for not signing him.....) God how I hate baseball..... for the same reason I love it........ the roller coaster of daily emotions and the fun of shit talking when things go great and bitching when shit goes bad......... They are watching these balls for called third strikes and little league grund balls....... ooo but this is a fearsome team..... yeah right this is a Cleveland team that the 86 Indians could beat and they've all been retired for at least 15 years (except Julio Franco, who could beat this team by himself). Top of the 5th he walks Polonco then Balks him to 2nd???????? WTF??????? Now he walks Sheffield AND Ordonez with no outs in the top of the 5th??????? Cabrera singles in 2...... Guillen singles bases loaded AGAIN..... No OUTS??????? GET HIM THE FUCK OFF THE MOUND WEDGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe he's smoking some of what Joe Blow was. Too late.....Renteria hits the grand fucking slam...... FUCK YOU SABATHIA GET YOUR ASS OUTTA CLEVELAND YOU FAT FUCKING SLOB WITH YOUR 13.50 ERA AND TAKE JOE BLOW WITH YA. Now ya put Mastny in ..... when the score is 9-1...... great smart intelligent move by the manager of the fucking year there.

Only in fucking Cleveland can a guy go from a Cy Young year to starting 0-3 with a 13.5 ERA in his contract year. Wow...... never thought I'd say this but thank God for Lee and Westbrook.

Sabathia will be fine. This is sort of like a hitters slump. My take on Sabathia is simple.. he was overworked last season and is just having a bit of trouble getting the hammer back. We know he sucks in big games but he's still a good pitcher. He'll be fine. That's a difficult thing for me to admit because I still think Beckett should have received the CY and I'd hate to go through another ALCS like last year, but c'mon... Detroit has arguably the best lineup in baseball and C.C.'s other losses came at Oakland..he never wins there. He has some distractions with his contract and all, but Cleveland has a great GM and C.C. is just too good to stay in this slump. on another note.. fuck the yankees. |

Quasi, yes it was a great offensive game.. too bad Boston was on the wrong end..
Pan.. I get what you're saying.. and I almost thing you could be right.. but look at Wang last night.. 4 walks, 5 consecutive hits.. pitchers have bad nights. I would over look the Oakland starts.. he probably just has a mechanical issue just like Giambi and Ortiz are having mechanical issues at the plate right now. now if he's still doing this at 100 innings.. then I'll agree with you 100%. |

Miguel Tejada's 33, not 31!!
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...x.html?cnn=yes It's not riveting as the whole Danny Almonte saga, but it is odd that he even did that. In other news... http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200....ap/index.html ESPN said Tuesday that a settlement has been reached in the lawsuit filed by former baseball analyst Harold Reynolds over his firing. Reynolds sued the sports network for at least $5 million in October 2006, three months after he was fired. He claimed he was wrongly fired after a female intern complained about what he called a "brief and innocuous" hug.

This might be the thing that gets the Rockies over the hump.. granted I don't really care...
I'm actually impressed with the D-backs.. damn they have alot of good young talent, with the exception of Randy Johnson of course on another note.. I think Manny took my advice and did fuck the yankees Then again.. Mussina sucks monkey balls. |

I hope not. I have really grown to hate the Rockies over the last few months. They have been virually nothing for 15 years and they have some insane streak that took them from average to the WS and since then they have been acting like they've been there from the start.
As for the DBacks, obviously they are playing over their heads right now. Within time they will regress to their true talent level, which is somewhere between the second half 2007 and 2008. There are still plenty of variables. Last edited by kutulu; 04-18-2008 at 10:26 AM.. |

Check this out, Rays' rookie Evan Longoria just got a 9 year deal!!! He has 20 MLB ABs.
The deal is guaranteed through his arbitration years. The first potential FA year is a team option and the next two are mutual options. All in all it is worth up to over $44M with $17.5M guaranteed. |

I totally agree it's too early, but I'm sure there's an exit clause somewhere in that contract.. they'll still lose a bit of money but if he turns out like they think he will..they scored a huge deal.
It's a shame what happened to Baldelli. I hope he can make it back. |

Look at it this way, it's only an average of $3M/yr spread out over 6 years that is guaranteed. Obviously it is heavily back loaded but that's all it amounts to.
Look at it this way: Ryan Howard was a super 2 in the last offseason, meaning he will have seasons where he is arbitration eligible. He won his arbitration hearing for $10M. They will pay him more each year so he could realistically make close to $60M in his first 6 years of service time. I'd say that Longoria stands to lose the most if he is as good as promised. However, Longoria could end up with shit if he ends up sucking. He's set for life no matter what now. Good for him. |

Lots of respect to Maddox tonight. He gave up 7 in the first two innings but stuck it through 7 to give his team some much needed rest.
