Eyes closed during sex
Hey all. I have a question I thought some (esp the ladies) might be able to answer. When we are having sex my girlfriend often has her eyes closed. Is this normal? I am a fairly attractive guy and I don't understand why she would want to limit her sensory impressions by closing her eyes. For me, seeing her body and what we are doing is a huge turn-on. Am I being paranoid wondering if she is not all that attracted to me or, even worse, may be fantasizing about another?

she could be fantasizing about you... or someone else. Dont worry about it. Some girls have their eyes open, some closed. I've known some women who think it's wierd to look at each other during sex.
If I were you, I'd just enjoy the moment and don't over-analyze things. Let your women do the over-analyzing. |

You are being paranoid.
Men are much more visual than women are, hence all the skin magazines and porn sites. If more women were visual, there'd actually be decent porn sites for women. The mind is the greatest sexual organ. She may or may not be fantasizing about others, but really getting into what you are doing, and by keeping her eyes closed, she's enjoying it even more. Blindfolds are extremely erotic because you can get into your own head, without knowing what's coming next. Get her to blindfold you -- our ask if you can blindfold her, that way you can control it a little more. Ask her to talk to you, to tell you what she's thinking about. If she is having a fantasy, shared fantasies can be very erotic. I'll bet the shiney Florida quarter sitting here on my desk, it's nothing you are doing at all, and she is thinking about you.

Have you ever closed your eyes when concentrating really hard on a physical activity, be it a swimming stroke, getting the technique of lifting something right, or any other situation where you want to concentrate on certain sensations to the exclusion of others?
(and the long, paragraph-shaped, leading question award goes to...)

Would you rather her open her eyes and close her legs?
Seriously you are worrying about nothing. As was said before girls aren't as visual as guys ans she's probably just imagining something to help her get off.

I usually close mine, too. And it is all about imagination for me. I think of all kinds of elaborate fantasies during sex. If I didn't do that, sex wouldn't be very enjoyable for me. So don't worry about it. She's still aware of you and knows that it's your dick she's riding.

I would not worry about it all. As long as you can tell that both you and her are enjoying the experience, that's what it's all about.
I'd say my wife has her eyes closed about half the time during sex. There are times when I can tell she's just about to go over the edge and we both stare into each others eyes as we both do, that's what it's all about. As Maleficent said earlier, guys need a more visual stimulation, where as for the ladies, it is a more of a mental thing. If you're both enjoying it.....enjoy it!

She could just be relishing the moment.
This sounds like the question about whether her being silent during sex is normal. Trust me, if you guys are open with each other (which you should be if you're having trusting sex), you'd know if she wasn't pleased. |

Women are not visual people. We need to feel physical touching to get us going. Don't worry, I'm sure she isn't fantasizing about anyone else. Her eyes are probably closed because she is concentrating completely on what you two are doing and the sensations she is feeling.
I think I usually have my eyes closed because it allows me to concentrate on everything I am feeling at the moment. I'm not wishing it were someone else.

how long have you been together for? maybe it makes her more comfortable to have her eyes closed. just ask her what the deal is. BUT if you ask her if she is thinking about someone else dont sound like a dick about it1, she might get insulted......been there done that

Something you might consider... play blindfold sex.
If she likes to tease, you'll love it because you cant see everything thats going on every other sensation takes over. If she likes closing her eyes you could try it on her, low kink factor and she already likes it so try it out. |

thanks everyone. I feel better. I kinda had a suspicion that she was maybe just concentrating as orgasms are more difficult for many women than for men. And even if she is fantasizing, as they say, "whatever gets you off." It just kind of (I think) takes away from the intimacy of the act.
But I know I am being a baby, at least I get to fuck a beautiful and amazing person. btw, our sex life is fine, I just wanted to vent my insecurities here rather than with her. |

Who knows, maybe she'll keep her eyes open for you next time. Or she'll blind fold you so you can see what the fuss is all about, or she'll vocalize what she's thinking about.

My eyes are almost always closed because I need to concentrate in order to really feel much of anything. If I'm not paying attention, I feel nothing, or worse, feel pain--plus I can't orgasm. I really like feeling my man's orgasm and I missed it once because I had my eyes open and I was SO mad! :P
