Have you ever been mushroom stamped, or mushroom stamped somebody else?

For those of you unfamiliar with this bizarre male ritual (often (hopefully) involving a lot of beer before hand), it is the process of taking ones penis and slapping a (generally) sleeping person's forehead with it until there is a red penis-shaped (similar in nature to the shape of a mushroom, hence the name) mark on them.

I don't think I could ever bring myself to commit this atrocity, as humorous as it sounds. Questions I have though:
1. Is it better to be limp or erect?
2. Is it better to just use your hand to swing it, or get some sort of full-body twist?
3. If you are hitting the person hard enough to make a red mark, wouldn't that hurt? Is this hazardous?

To clarify question 3, would this be bad for the penis? (I'm sure the sleeping person would be fine, aside from the shock of being woken up by a penis slapping their forehead)

Have you ever slapped someone so hard it left a red mark? I have and I know it takes a lot of force to leave a mark. I can't imagine that as healthy or safe for the penis! It seems like you could pop it or rip some tissue.
This kind of leads into your first question, limp or erect? Well, you can't get the kind of leverage with a limp dick, so I'd imagine erect.
As for the second question, you would probably need to use some sort of stabilizing aid to cockslap someone, but this goes back to my first point about possibly injuring yourself. (That sort of answers the last question as well.)

Of course though, it should be a complete surprise to the other person: not only is not a sex thing, but it is generally done (bear in mind i have only heard about this from two people, yet they are two complete strangers who live many hundreds of miles apart) between two heterosexual guys, as a practical joke.
