I decided I'm going to wallow in self pity.

This fucking sucks. A few years back I failed to notice a wart at the joint of my middle finger, right hand, palm side. I'm a male. I naturally went on masturbating (waking it as some of you like to say). Come back to present day. I didn't 1) notice it or 2) know they were contagious through skin-to-skin. I now have HPV. You're always taught all your life that abstinence give youa 100% chance of not getting an STD. I'm a virgin. I've never even gone farther than kissing. I don't know if I'll ever have sex, but if I do, it certainly won't be until I'm married (I don't have a problem with that part). This is so gay. I'm not old enough for this shit.

Sorry, I just had to get it out.

ain't it some shit? i picked up a rather nasty virus unexpectedly too... i completely understand. in the future, i'd suggest getting warts removed. i have one that will occasionally pop up on my middle finger's first joint... let it grow, then sanitize an exacto and remove, then bandage it to stop the bleeding... or have a doctor do it... that's prolly a much smart plan than my method.

man, that is messed up.
It's one of those things in life you don't have control over, but still hurts you.
The only thing people can do then is deal with it the best they can.
I feel for you, man

Have you seen a doctor? There are different kinds of warts and some of them once removed do not come back. I know that going to a doctor and talking about this may be hard but its better to get a professional to tell you how to treat/remove them.

Have you seen a doctor?

Planned Parenthood is a great, confidential place to visit. They are use to dealing with all kinds of situations and will be very supportive. Whatever you do, don't ignore this! Good luck!

I haven't talked to a doctor, but I've researched it online. There's treatment, but no cure.

Human Papillomavirus (HPV)

A lot of people carry HPV and never even know that they have it. It can have no side effects at all or it can cause cell dysplasia in women. Which can lead to cancer if left untreated. I don't know a lot about the effect on men though.

HPV, (Human Papillomavirus ) is considered an STD and does cause external warts.

I've never heard of it being spread by a hand wart though. Talk to your doc, you may have just gotten a regular old wart on your genitals.

Doctor! Verify this before you go any further! It may well be... and it may not. Find out for sure. Doctors don't care one way or the other and you won't be the first or last person they see regarding an STD and you might just find out it's nothing to worry about at all.

Even if it is HPV, it's not a death sentence. People blow this stuff up far worse than it needs to be. Did you know 4 out of every 10 people you know has HSV? There's just such a big stigma about it, nobody will talk about the topic. Most STDs, even if the virus can't be eradicated, can be controlled very well with suppersiev drugs and don't need to interfere with your everyday life, or even your sex life, very much at all. It's a minor annoyance, at best, for most.

Relax a bit. Find out what it is for sure and act accordingly. There are some good online resources for supoprt regardnig this stuff should you need it.

But yeah...I completely understand why you feel like you do.

1. Go to a Dr.
2. Carefully observe the growth and compare it to illustrations and pictures of what you suspect it is online.
3. Go to a Dr.
4. Don't leave out the possibility of molluscum contagiosom. Much more benign than HPV and sometimes presents itself similarly.

Good luck!

I don't know a lot about the effect on men though.
Other than cervical cancer, HPV does and doesn't single out a gender. It is most common for a woman in a heterosexual couple to show symptoms of HPV. But, if you have it and you have sex with someone regardless of gender, they can get it. Strains of HPV that typically attack females in the cervix/vagina can also attack the rectum in anyone who has anal sex. This affects gay and straight couples.
Usually though, men are carriers of HPV and show no signs depending on the strain. Strains that cause warts don't cause cancer and vice versa. However, you can carry multiple strains of HPV and there are quite a few different strains.

Also, most warts (skin foot genital etc) are typically caused by HPV.

If you ever use the words, "attack," and, "rectum," in the same sentence again... we're gonna have a problem.

Well, it really is the best way to describe it. When you start to notice HPV symptoms they can be quite malicious.

I had a few warts on my foot. After getting sick of the two-month treatment the doctor gave me, I attacked all but one with a soldering iron (also works for excruciating mosquito bites.) The last one (as a control for the experiment) took two months and a few days to come off with medication. Two years later, no signs of recurrance.

Of course, no one in their right mind would take this as solid advice.

Ah man wtf you doing looking at one of the medical.com sites? Ask any sane doctor and they will tell you never to look at that because it'll totally make you paranoid! They diagnose(sp?) you with all this BS on the sites.
