Other than cervical cancer, HPV does and doesn't single out a gender. It is most common for a woman in a heterosexual couple to show symptoms of HPV. But, if you have it and you have sex with someone regardless of gender, they can get it. Strains of HPV that typically attack females in the cervix/vagina can also attack the rectum in anyone who has anal sex. This affects gay and straight couples.
Usually though, men are carriers of HPV and show no signs depending on the strain. Strains that cause warts don't cause cancer and vice versa. However, you can carry multiple strains of HPV and there are quite a few different strains.
Also, most warts (skin foot genital etc) are typically caused by HPV.
