Here is a link which takes you to another link which takes you to a PDF file about someone's study on all this. I only skimmed through it because I need to get off the computer, but it looks pretty interesting...

Ok
I recieved an E-mail back from my senator! He and our secertary of state in Michigan has provided a secure, accurate, and recountable voting procedure in Michigan. So....what's the problem in so many other states!!!!??? Citizens need to speak up in areas where their representatives don't represent the citizens! elected officials respond to their constituents above and beyond all else they want to keep thier jobs too!! This isn't a partisan issue either while, it is odd so many of the errors benifited republicans I did find a few examples in which democrats gained from errors also millage proposals in which no votes were recorded among many others. It is possible the errors in republican favor are more higly publicized. certainly shouting about some while ignoring others in a michael moore "wrap a few truths in a bundle of lies, so nobody can tell between truth and lie" does not help the cause of democracy I'll post my senators response here: Quote:
even more, seeing as how he is one of the very few democrats i've crossed my usual party line to vote for

I have a question for you guys. Reguardless of whether this election contained massive fraud or not why not address the concerns that people have? If there is a minor chance that someone *could* steal an election via hacking of electronic machines shouldn't that be a concern for all parties? This isn't a partisin issue yet people are lineing up on partisin sides again. The election is over, Bush won. Now lets look into the way these machines work and make them better. If in the process it turns out there was voter fraud on either side is it really a bad thing that people know about it? I don't think so.

To an extent, this kind of thing is getting looked into - The Green and Libertarian parties have raised enough money for a recount in Ohio. ~4,000 extra votes for either candidate is wrong, and does need to be investigated. Does it imply wholesale fraud? Probably not. The electronic voting machines, regardless of who manufactures them need to be overhauled to provide a better level of accountability, and certain states are working on this, IIRC Nevada tested out a paper trail system for their machines.
I think that instead of hoping for long shot recount victories, Democrats need to realize that voting machines did not cost them this election - John Kerry did. His campaign didn't start to kick until late September, and then obviously didn't hold it's own. How did they lose to a President with job approval numbers below 50%? Maybe it's time to field better candidates. |
