Thank you for the consistency. Of course, it had to be dragged out of you a little bit after first pointing the finger at Bush and neglecting the Clinton part of Kean's remarks. Tophat, take them as personal attacks if you want, but I was criticizing the point of view and the obvious bias in the majority of your posts. In fact, there was a compliment in there if you bothered to notice. You make some good and valid points but they can not be taken very seriously when a post or two later you're throwing daggers at the administration with no justification. It's quite convenient to throw out accusations with prefacing statements so that when you are questioned about them, you can just say "Well, I said I only suspected it".

If Clinton had done his job! If the people would have supported it! If Bush had done! If Condi had acted! If CBC! If grasshoppers carried 45's birds wouldn't fuck with them. If this could have been prevented it would have been prevented - it makes no diffreence who is in office - or which party is in power. If it could have been prevented it would never have happened! Get over it!

I would like to agree entirely with you, but I also think that this would require a president who knows his ass from his elbow, so bitching about the resident is doing something about stopping the next time.

I don't blame you for wishing this would go away. Personally, I wish Clinton had had the cojones to say "Yeah, she blew me. Get over it," but flubbing national security on a scale that allows thousands to die is a so much more effective and justified club to beat a politician with that a blowjob or even perjury. I mean, we all know politicians are dishonest, but we tend to get bent out of joint when they start letting their constituents get dead. So whether or not this gets blown out of proportion doesn't depend on what actually hapens, but where you look at it from. Now honestly, had this come up on Clinton, don't you think we really would have seen President Gore on the job? Won't happen to Bush, not with a Republican congress, but realize that this is roughly the same medicine that was served to the resident's predecessor, for roughly the same reasons.

Thank you, MrSelfDestruct, for saying something constructive. I might add that this is precisely why an unfettered investigation into the intelligence failures and oversights that led to 9/11 is critical. There is simply no other way to ensure that we won't make the same mistakes another time--and I'd rather have our gov't make new mistakes than fail to learn from the old ones.
