Tears on TV: Dixie Chicks Explain Bush Bashing
LINKY
I hate when liberal Hollywood celebs open their mouths and say something that is not popular and then bitch that they have free speech. After that doesn't work they try to explain their dumb thoughts which never helps the situation out. When you work in an industry where your income depends on how many people like you it may just be best if you keep your mouth shut. I don't want to know what entertainers think. Just fucking entertain me and keep politics out of it. There are actors that I liked, but after I realized how dumb they were I stopped supporting them. Many people are the same way. That's my freedom of choice in action. Quote:

Yup,
Foot in mouth disease is a terrible thing. It's even worse when you can't stand behind your comments. At this point, I have more respect for Martin Sheen and Susan Sarandon (which is not much) than I do for the Dixie Chix

Jesus, just stand by what you said. No regrets.
No "heartfelt this" or "wrong wording" that, just make a statement using the right wording and stick to it. You don't see Michael Moore going around and apologising for everything he says. |

well, they have to say they're sorry or they won't make any more money and will be out on the street. Michael Moore has fans who like it when he says these things. The Dixie Chicks have fans who...well, I think the last line said it well:

They are so inconsequential. I'm amazed that anyone really cares what she said. She fucked up, oh well, she's feeling the pain of her mistake. She needs to deal with the fact that she'll probably be spending the rest of her life as a waitress at Bob's Pig Hut.

Typical example of what happens when you don't think before you speak. Also country radio advocating boycotting their music, concerts and cd sales will bring crocodile tears to anyone when they see their careers going down the tube.If you want to be a politician, run for office. If you want to be a musician, shut up and play music.

I love how they insinuate we don't have the right to not buy their shit, myself. You want us to shut up and fork the cash over? Go to hell fatties. Also, the pregnant chick looks weird.

I liked this picture better...
oops, they won't let me directly link, so see the pic here: http://www.imagedump.com/index.cgi?pick=get&tp=6627 But you guys are completely right. They didn't care wht they said until it hit them in the bank account. It amazes me that they didn't take into consideration that most country music fans support war for freedom and soforth. I thought that was universally known.

Actually, last I heard, they had sold out almost their entire tour with the last tickets going fast. Thing is, most of their fans aren't the typical redneck country fans. Those people are protesting because they hear them on the radio. I doubt many of them are real fans. So I wouldn't say their careers are fading.

It's all about the bottom line.
If their comments hadn't destroyed their record sales, then they wouldn't be appologizing for anything. These overpaid brats can rot in hell for disgracing my country in a time of war.

I'd have to agree that I'm more irritated with their spinelessness than I am with the content.
These gals have already made their millions of dollars and they're pandering to the people because they buy their albums and are unhappy???? Give me a break, If you're gonna make the comment then stand up and say, "yeah, you know what...?!? I did fucking say that!" Instead of mish-mash mouthing of imaginary sentiment.

Heh. I think there should be more nude protestors, personally.
![]() Unfortunately, if you're famous you think you have the right to shoot your mouth off, even when you have no clue what you're talking about. This is the way it always has been, and always will be as long as people listen to actors and musicians instead of those in positions of politics and education-- ie, the people that -do- know what the hell they're talking about.

They should have stuck by what they originally said, now with their apology people that already hated them still hate them, and supporters think its a cop out. All this issue shows is just how psycho a lot of country music fans are, death threats and cd stompin' ? I grow weary. I think all but like 7 of their upcoming shows are sold out, and like 90% of the tickets are sold for those 7, I don't think they are feeling the money loss too much. Their cd only dropped from #1 to 3 in the country music charts... #1 now is some guy singing a sad song about daddy going off to war etc, etc..which would probably be #1 anyway during this war time with or without Natalie's comments.

i'd take the opposite stance and say i respect them more because they're willing to give up all that popularity and success because of their beliefs.

I hate country music PERIOD. It's ALL shit.
Would not have bought their stuff before, would not buy their stuff now. But from a purely political point of view, they are free to speak their minds, and i admire that, but their fans are free not to buy or buy their music. It kind of reminds me of john lennon's infamous "we are now more popular than christ" statement which caused a lot of beatle records to go up in smoke and a lot of protest by rednecks. In the end, as far as the beatles and their contribution to pop music it proved to be only a minor foot note. The dixie chicks would be smart to switch to a more mainstream music and get away from the country rednecks. Last edited by james t kirk; 04-27-2003 at 04:19 AM.. |
